Personally I feel as if standard was a great thing within the game, keeps the game fresh and limits the players in what they can use in order to make cooler and fresh decks.
Wild is good too, you can make amazing combo decks or interactions with cards that were released within different time frames, like playing a better yogg deck with better mage spells (flame cannon, duplicate, unstable portal)
Overall I think they bring a new experience to Hearthstone that couldn't have been brought with keeping the old mode
Very much so. I disagree with the people who say Standard is still as cancerous. Aggro Shaman might be a top tier deck, but the other top tier decks keep them in check. The nerfing of cards like Big Game Hunter made it possible for more janky decks that actually win. Also Shredder is gone. Fuck Shredder. Made the game so boring. With standard, no neutral 4-drop is king.
I believe the introduction of Standard was great. I was kind of hesitant to keep playing the game, because I was still missing so so many cards, but with the introduction of Standard I feel like I still had a chance. I don't think it can be a bad thing - standard that is - since you can still play the same way as before with the same kind of rewards - aka Wild.
I wholeheartedly disagree with the assertion that Standard is a good thing. As a matter of fact, it's even more cancerous than ever, with you only being remotely able to rank up in the Standard rank if you use the same two Zoolock or Face Shaman decks that currently are making the Standard meta currently unplayable. I have been playing more Overwatch than Hearthstone now - at least there your not subject to bullshit RNG or godly topdecks whilst the innovative decks you want to make get thrashed by bullshit RNG and topdecks.
You shouldn't miss Piloted Shredder KillaKupcake, that card alone was literally warping the meta, that was a great and healthy riddance. Though I miss Loatheb too, was such a good card. Also RIP Vol'jin.
Edit: Oh and Lightbombs, I don't even want to talk about that...
Standard is great, a lot of viable decks. I was worried at first because zoo and aggro shaman were everywhere, but the meta has settled into a pretty fun and diverse place. Now you can play pretty much anything because there are a healthy number of good and bad matchups out there for every deck.

Typical case of mad cuz bad.
If you truly believe you can only rank up with Aggro Shaman and Zoo, Hearthstone might just be too difficult of a game for you.
When announced, I was positive I'd be playing nothing but Wild games and built my decks accordingly. But then I started playing around with standard decks and found I enjoyed the challenge of winning without the access to certain cards. I might play more wild next season, but this month it's been all standard all the time.
To answer the OP's question, I think having more choices are a positive for the game in the long run, so IMHO standard Vs. Wild is a success.

Better to be the hammer than the anvil or the metal shaped between.
Standard is good and necessary for the future of the game. I like that the standard meta is back to a more "board centric" interactive game where you need to own the board if you want to win. Combo decks are still working but not that strong anymore.
However, to be honest, I'm a little disappointed how stale the standard meta is already, I thought new decks will arise but it seems that it won't happen. We need ma new expansion !
In my opinion, the game is the best it's ever been and the formats are to thank for that. I honestly thought I would play a lot more Wild but I haven't even had one game yet - really enjoying Standard.
I'm actually finding it hard to ladder up since the formats were introduced. Previous high rank was 6 (yeah, I rule all!) but now I'm hovering around 11 & 12...
I've played only standard and I don't regret the auto-include cards that existed before it: Piloted Shredder, Dr. Boom. I'm just worried that Blizzard is still not able to balance the classes. In standard, Warlock Zoo, Face shaman, midrange hunter and lots of archetypes of warriors rule the meta. Paladin, Rogue and more specifically priest really struggle right now. Warrior has 4 excellent archetypes: he can play both aggro, tempo, control.
My hope is to have 2 or 3 valid archetypes per class. For now, Blizzard is not able to provide it and I really regret that.
Standard is great and the only way to keep the game healthy at the moment. Sure there's annoying decks like shaman aggro but there will always be no matter the format.
Dunno really... for standard we got a lot less priests, druids and paladins, and gained a shitton of shamans and slightly more rogues. Also there is too few cards to make it very varied.
I'm on the fence about it, I don't think it added much to the game - but with the existence of wild it didn't really detract much either. The exception is perhaps the tournament meta which is even more stale than it used to be.
I agree that maybe in a year the introduction of Standard would have been necessary, but at the moment I just don't like it. As long as Blizz isn't willing to balance cards promptly there will always be superior decks that are played by the majority of the community, thanks to the reward system. And there will always be "auto-includes."
Instead of shitty substitutes, Blizzard should have transfered some cards into Standard, like Healbot, Sludge Belcher and Loatheb, even the never played Nerub'ar Weblord would have been interesting now. But nooo, all they can do are exaggerated nerfs and throwing expansions at you. Shut up and buy...
I don't care about an ugly cardback or rewards, I just want really fun and interactive games, not a predictable, bullshit, one-sided face-smashing-fiesta. There are seriously people playing Aggro-Shaman in Wild Casual, besides tons of Secret Paladins. U wanna do some quests or try something that is not exactly tailored to those decks? Too bad, now get matched against them five times in a row.
tl; dr: It didn't change anything in my HS-experience and it was executed badly.

I've been wanting to make this post for a while now, but first I wanted to make sure everyone's opinion was final.
Are glad that standard exists and do you think it was good for the game in the long run?
Or do you think it was a bad idea and shouldn't have been implemented?
RIP yogg-saron good things don't last forever :(
standart lowered the cancers rate but i mostly miss loatheb like unique cards

If you got the coin, the Mercenaries get going. Vote for The Mercenary for CCC #3.

I'm glad it exists for the longevity of Hearthstone, but I enjoy Wild more.

Anyway, yeah - it's been awesome.
Missing lethal since June 2015.
Standard is pretty cool, I'm excited to see whats in the next adventure.
No one plays wild like really...no one. I'd like some official numbers but in essence wild is dead.
