I got almost 2.5 k wins, golden shaman and golden priest, and I reached legend last month. I play about 2 years, got like 70% collection. I felt the same pushing from rank 5 to legend, a bit stressful, just like getting rank 5 for the first time. This month I play for fun and I am at rank 5 already, without stress. Just imagine, that 60% win ratio is high, and can bring you to legend, but for every 6 games won, you lose 4, which is okay. I don't think reaching legend means you are better that those that stay at rank 5, but legend card back means a lot to me :)
I'm exactly the same person as you - 2 years, lot of cards.
All my legendary runs ends after 30 minutes.
I prefer to prepare for my local tournaments, experiment new decks, play Arena or just learn my buddies how to succes hearthstone without big collection.
hitting legendary seems to be very boring and frustrating expierence.
I've never pushed for legend and in fact never gotten past rank 10. I play in local tournaments (Denver, CO) and generally place 1st or second except once. So it's not that I'm a bad player per say... I just rarely play more than a couple ranked games a day.
When I was a few months in, still new and built my own decks I went ranked and got up to 12. That's the only time as I find there's too much pressure and in casual its fine as your not losing anything. Been a year since that only get to level 20 now just for the card back and golden common
Dont think i wanna offend you .... My 'card' experience started when i was a child with magic and i stopped at 16 couse i thought it was too nerdy and expensive (but i always loved it so much) .
Then i found hearthstone 2 years ago..im a free 2 play player , i started by playng cheap decks, always wondering how funny could be playng a control warrior or expensive decks like that and now after 2 years i can play what i want . I always tried to improve my my skills , every season tryed to reach higer ranks, after some months i started to reach rank 5 every season (with the old midrange hunter) , and always getting new cards and tryng new decks, and last season it was my first time i tried pushing legend and in just 2 hours from rank 5 i got it ..
When i saw mostly of my hearthstone 'friends' having a very good collection (someone with ALL GOLDEN cards ....) stuckin at rank 10 i just get mad , you have the opportunity of playng what you want (i can understeand if you dont have the time and you just play few games in a month ) and you cant even reach rank 5 ..
So what i recommed to you is to find a deck that is fun and cool for you(and efficent) , for example a tempo warrior , a pirate aggro warrior, nzoth paladin , aggro totem shaman, control warrior (depends what you like to play:aggro tempo midrange combo or control, and how long you wanna play a game).... there are a ton of efficent decks that can give you at least 70 % winrate , you just need to know how to play them (and the most important thing in this game is knowing what you play against for having always an answer) . just chose one and keep playng it , you can look on youtube , for example kolento is an excellent player to learn to , or you can just play a lot of game on your own and understeand how to play it after 10-15 games you should master it .
So just improve your skill man , reaching rank 5 should be very easy for you , and yeah maybe i got a bit too much into hearthstone , i should quit it for some months hahahaah
Hey there, I am extremely into HS, I watch streams daily, I watch almost all the championships and fireside gatherings, and surprisingly enough one of my favorite pro players are Kolento, as well as Strifecro and Thijs. It's not that I lack the skill or knowledge, its just I've never felt the need to push for legend as I find it "Not so much fun and more stressful".
But I feel the need to do it now just to prove to myself I am somewhat of a good player, but thanks a lot for the advise man, appreciate it.

I would love to get that card back, the ultimate validation...

I feel exactly like that, I'm not a bad player but there's no proof of that LUL, as I haven't really taken on the good players. Next month will see how it goes.
two reasons it takes a lot of time and effort second I'm not planning to become a "pro player"
I'll probably try it ones or twice but not anytime soon I don't enjoy playing aggro decks or which people call them nowdays "tempo" or "midrange" so I think I'll wait for a control meta which probably will never happen but you can be so sure

Hahah ok i misunderstood you .. if you wanna reach legend i recommed to you a very aggressive deck so game will be shorter and problably your winrate better than playng for example a priest

BUT you see that's where the problem lies, I hate aggro decks. I'm by nature a control player. That's why it always seems as though I will never get there using a control deck but will try anyways.
I hit legend every season I choose to play. It doesn't really took long if you're good really. Last month it took me 6.5 hours from rank 5. I prefer the legend environment. The lower ladder is boring. Rank 5 is an aggro fest. 6-20 are filled with trash players. Even at 1000+ legend, the players are bad. In legend, you actually get to see unique decks as it is where all the experimenting goes on. The players who make those net decks are the legend players after all. Also, it allows me to test my decks in a competitive environment. You can get to rank 5 with any deck. To determine whether your deck is actually good or not., you obviously have to throw it against good players.
Also, for the players who say they only play control, there were so many unique control decks that hit legend this and last season. Limiting yourself to control decks is not an excuse.
I've been playing the game since launch also. I've gotten every expansion (by saving up my coins and not buying them). I also have not reached Legend. My main reason is I play more than JUST Hearthstone. I play lots of other video games and watch a lot of tv shows and movies. Oh yeah there's also that pesky working 9 hour days! I'm happy just getting in the top 10 every season (depending on how much I play). I'll make pushes if I'm a star or two off to try to get up one rank from where I'm at but that's about it.
The Legendary card back isn't cool enough or distinctive enough to "show off" that your a legend player either. Would kind of be nice if you had SOME way of displaying to your opponents that your legendary, maybe a tabbard that hangs by your portrait or something. But without that incentive I don't personally have the need to get past rank 5.
I didn't read most of the other responses, so I'm hoping that there's not a flame war happening in these last few posts before mine.
I've been playing HS for 2 years and I've never even made it to rank 5. I just don't have the time to play that much. I have all the cards except for a few legendaries I consider useless (Millhouse, Nat, Cho, Tinkmaster) and I have a consistently high winrate on the ladder.
But I played competitive MTG for years and even placed top 8 in a few national tournaments. I have the skill, knowledge, and collection to make legend if I wanted to. And maybe if I sat down and ground out games for a few hours a night I could do it, but to be honest, legend doesn't seem special or exclusive at all. If you have a 51% winrate, then all it comes down to is number of games played.
If legend represented playskill, strategy and game knowledge then I'd be more interested in trying for it. But as it stands, it represents playing cancer to get as many games under your belt as possible since sheer number of games played is more important than how good you are.
I have tried to go for legend a few times, but I always give up, its not worth it. I always get r5 in the first few days, and when im feeling like playing more i usually reach r3 or 2. But I just cant get to legend, I get bored really fast. There are a lot of games that I want to play as well, cant really focus solely on hs.
I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with playing the game how you want to and feeling like the time investment to Legend (even if you have a quick run of <10 hours it's a time investment) isn't something you feel is worth your time. I love the game, know more than the average player does, and probably have a skillset to get to Legend; but at the end of the day I enjoy variety too much to stick to one deck, and only really log maybe 150 games a season because I have other things I like to do.
The merit of your achievement is defined by you, people who are excited to hit rank 15 are no more or less deserving of that excitement than someone who hits #1 Legend. If you feel like what you're doing now is accomplishing the goals you set for yourself (having fun is a perfectly legitimate goal), I think you're doing exactly what you need to be doing.

I totally skip ranked, my friends are pretty angry for that. So I thought I'd share this:
2747 Total Wins: 0 Golden heroes....
You do the math! (okay you don't have all the numbers to do math, but you get it)

Played for 1,5 years, never pushed for rank 10. Only regularly reached rank 15 after the ranked rewards were introduced.

Just my two cents.
