"aggro shaman misplayed by going face instead of clearing the board"
lol ok, thread over.
I'm guessing this happens with any meta though - there will be a few decks that are strictly stronger than the others and that don't require a ton of skill to pilot well. How would you suggest it gets "fixed"?

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.
To reach legend, a person should have played enough games of Hearthstone to understand the game. To actually be good at it, and play like that. So why have Blizzard made cards since the beginning of hearthstone, that is extremely over powered? Why not try to make the game a little more balanced?
For example, I just met a Totem shaman that had a argent squire on the board, and I had Kings Elekk. The argent squire goes face, before he plays Tuskarr Totemic and gets Flametongue from it. He could have cleared the board, but misplays, and go face. Could I punish him? No because he played a 7/7 for 4 mana the turn after, followed up with a mana tide totem and 0 mana 5/5 taunt a couple of turns after that. After that it was GG. A noobish player can easily reach legend with a card draw like that, but why have Blizzard made it like that? So that everyone can reach legend? No, it shouldn't be like that.
Legend should be a reward for being good in the game, not something everyone can get by flooding the board.
And no, I'm not after Shaman. Other examples are Combo druid, the old Patron, Secret Paladin etc.
What do you think?
Discuss.
How come MR Shaman is easier to play than MR Hunter? Since when? Since you start losing against them?
Any flavour of Shaman is harder to play than any hunter, just for overload management and positioning alone.
As I wrote, I'm not after shaman as a classic. But there are 10 000 reaching legend at the end of the season. Do you think it's because that the overall skill level has increased? I don't think so. It's because blizzard has made it easier to reach legend. But it shouldn't be easy to reach legend... which I think it is now.

Everything that isn't about elephants is irrelephant.
If that were the case, I'm sure there's shouldn't be a reason why there are fewer than 10k people that hit legend every season.
What you described was the perfect opening for Totem Shamans, which to be fair is against MR Hunters to bounce back from (seeing that you played Elekk).
Getting to Legend is not just about skill - it's about time spent as well. From Ranks 5 to 1, no winstreaks means that you have to get >50% WR in order to progress, and the amount of skill you have reduces the amount of time spent to get there.
Try the ascent before attempting to talk about the ascent - From Ranks 5 to 1, the meta is quite anti-Shaman and the smart players would tech against them.
My point is, that the amount of players reaching Legend every month is now 10K. Which, in my opinion is far to many. A half a year ago, it was normal to have 2-3K legend players per season. Which is ok. 5 000 is also ok. But 10 000 players reaching legend a season just sums up, that it's not that difficult to reach legend. All you have to do, is to play an over powered class, and viola.. you reach it.
Take Savjz for example. He reaches legend each season with non-meta decks. Yesterday he was winning against facepaladin, hunters, zoo, and shamans with WOTOG-mill rogue. That requires skill. He deserves to reach legend for being good in the game, not for playing OP decks.
Luckily you are not in charge of who "deserves" Legend.
everyone knows that skill doesn't play a major role in HS, the best players have like what, 60% winrate in tournaments? The best player in a skill game could reach 100%, but that will never be the case in HS. The game winrate is then decided by a deck/RNG 80% of times, and 20% of times by players' skills
How come the top ranked chess player in the world only has a win rating of just over 60%?
Good example. If that's true then it means that he's about 60-to-40 times better than people he has played against, not clearly better than them. In Chess RNG is minimal (board side) and a master would nearly never lose to a random player, which happens in HS all the time. Also there can be something like "skill cap", like in HS.
In Hearthstone, just like in competitive chess, you usually face off against people of a similar skill level as you.

Yes, the overall skill level has increased greatly.
The best players that before had 5000 wins now have ~30000.
It only takes one great player with a deck to teach others and the rest will follow. Like hyped did with miracle rogue for example.
I used to have a 70+% winrate on my way to legend. Now it is closer to 55%

Kinda right though, last year I was 11th in the world with Fifa 15 with a 90% online win rate (losing only once in 20 matches on average), with card games combined with RNG there is always a certain amount of luck. But nonetheless there is still alot of skill involved to make the best out of situations regardless of your hand & RNG.
I don't know how the matchmaking works in Fifa, whether it's completely random, or if there's a ladder.

there are many more players now, percentages are the only valid statistics here

losing 1/20 matches would be a 95% winrate.
Still, really well done with that ranking. Congratz.
Yeah its obvius there will be cards/class/decks better than others but whats the problem? Why you amd all the community complaim about that ? You should use them or use deck that counter those decks (if your problem is the winrate and rank) , for example last month i went rank 5 with nzoth priest then having problems becouse EVERYBODY plays aggro from 5 to legend i decided to play it too ... and pirate/dragon warrior actually broke ass (easy destroy shaman) and i went in 2 hours from rank 5 to legend with over 70% winrate . So stop acting like pro players sayng you hate aggros and you play only control , actually control is out of the meta so you cant reach high winrate and thats the only truth , even kokento couldn t .
If you want to reach high winrate in ladder you have to play tempo/midrange or aggro stop talkin about it.
I can understeand if you prfear playng a fatigue game but also having 80 % winrate is so funny trust me...
And stop sayng that control decks are more skilled , the only thing to know in this game is the opponents deck, and all the cards so you can have always an answer for every play , skill can be only ''gained'' by playng many games with a deck and know how to play every matchup and not becouse you re smarter than other players ( this can only make you '' gaining skill'' faster)
SO READ THIS AND TELL ME IF YOU THINK THE SAME WAY AS ME AND YOU HAD ENOUGH ABOUT HOW MOST OF THE HEARTH COMMUNITY THINKS
there's no skills involved in this game anymore.. not like back in the days!... the most shitty people can win with cheap ass aggro decks these days.. i use to love playing the game, but now its another case.. i really can't stand playing for more in an hour atm.. it really pisses me off to see the same decks over and over again.. in standard as well as in casual play.. the cancer is real, but no one seems to have the cure.. i must admit that this game has turned into a big pile of shit of a game.. sadly :(((((((( Bring back the good old days, when it used to be fun..
But what do i know, i'm just a Leper Gnome with 14 post in total :)))

He s just ironically making fun of this fuckin community nd im curius whats the link between ancestral call and trolling ?
I agree with OP. Anyone who beats me is a cheap, no skill, talentless noob. If they haven't spent years and gallons of money (yes, gallons) acquiring large and varied collections, how dare they beat me with a shaman totem deck. Can you believe these noobs basing a shaman deck on totems? I mean, how lame is that right?
Lol this is cute. I'm actually the unluckiest player in the game and bitchy shit like this is just funny at this point. I don't complain about decks, how much money people put in even though I am f2p. All of those things you willingly sign up to face when you play this game. What kills me is just pure RNG. My opponent doesn't even draw perfectly every game they just draw a thousand times better than me. Having your opponents topdeck lethal 9 games out of 10 is worse than anything else. RNG is the killer you dumbfucks not "op" cards you bitch about.

Funny how ppl defend op cards cause they wont admit they're getting carried by them...
When your opponent went face instead trade, that wasn't a misplay.
Greetings, traveler.
Let's make Hunter great.
skill def takes a part in this game, but it is overtaken by RNG way too often
