Still, there might be some renewed interest when people get bored of Standard as the expansion drags on.
Honestly, "competitive" wild is less diverse than Standard. In the lower ranks you have these quirky decks; but, as I laddered to Rank 5 today 90%+ of the decks were Secret Paladin. There were a higher concentration of Secret Paladin than I've ever seen before. Even more than Secret Paladin's heyday before formats. The other 10% of decks weren't super creative either. They were just Zoo, Freeze Mage, Midrange Hunter, etc.
The only thing that makes Wild more "fun" than Standard is that all the players there are awful; which, I admit, makes it pretty fun.
I have been playing wild and standard this season. Was having fun playing lots of different decks in wild until i ran into a wall of N'zoth priests at rank 13. Most unfun games ever. No more otk patron or combo druid to keep them in check, so i will probably leave wild alone.
Wild is a place where people test out fun and innovative decks. But at the moment there are not enough cards to make the 2 modes a completely different experience. Maybe in the future there will be completely different meta's in each format.

I do my dailies over there for ranked wins, it's all just secret paladins and tempo/mech mages, nothing new or experimental. kinda sad tbh seeing golden portraits with op decks struggling at rank 15/16 Lil
I play for fun and Wild is oodles more fun than Standard. I have seen more C'thuns and N'zoth's in Standard than I ever want to see again. At least in my own experience I have almost never see the loathed cards such as Dr. Balanced. So many more varied and entertaining matches in Wild. And I've also noticed that players are generally more courteous and friendly in Wild. Like it's an exclusive club where the kewl players go.

Dependable loan sharks since 1960. We sink our teeth into every deal we make.
Why no one plays wild mode?Because is pointless!Only standard mode gives Championship points and almost all the tournaments use standard mode..If you want to play wild and go for it but it's a waste of time.
Uh, most players don't care about the points or the tournaments. For me it's a game that I enjoy playing and Wild is far more fun and diverse than Standard.

I've played exactly 3 games in Wild mode, and even though I won them all with a Volajz + N'zoth Control Priest it's infuriating to see scientists, shredders, lightbombs, voidwalkers, etc everywhere.
There were just too many OP cards in gvg and naxx, and it's not fun to play against now that we have Standard.

Building Quirky Decks Every Week, Loving Life at Rank 15!
After reaching Rank 5 in standard, I wanted to play some wild. Well, I can't even get beyond Rank 11 since I'm literally facing like 75% secret Paladins. Don't know man, that deck does not allow any counterplay :/
I don't understand why no one plays wild mode, I reached rank 3 recently and I had fun playing that mode. I went to the main page on hearthpwn and searched for wild decks, the most popular one has only 9 upvotes! Why is it so unpopular?
I just searched myself and the most popular one has 3600 upvotes.

I had a fairly good winrate against Secret Paladin using Tempo Mage. Keep Frostbolt in opening hand versus Secretkeeper or Knife Juggler.

As much as I am not fond of the idea of nerfing cards being the solution, I'm at a loss as to what would be a better idea...
When a card is so painfully obviously broken like Dr. Boom, an adjustment is the only clear thing. Simply banishing the card to a different format doesn't solve the problem, it just sweeps it under the rug.

The cards you named are "borderline broken" rather than flat out "broken". The actual/true "broken" cards were nerfed like Warsong Commander and Undertaker. There are some players that would prefer to play borderline broken cards and others that would prefer not to.
The idea behind formats is that there is one format for players who want to play borderline broken cards and one for those who do not. Formats aren't simply about sweeping problems "under the rug" but about giving the player more choices.
2) Some GvG and Naxx cards were horribly broken and unfun to play with or around. These will always be a part of wild.
3) Because those GvG and Naxx cards will never be altered, if you play wild you yourself, you will eventually have to play with or around horribly broken cards. They will always stay just the way they are and they will always be a part of wild.
4) Not as many streamers or players are embracing the format compared to standard. And most if not all tournaments will be in the standard format.
5) To fix wild, the devs would have to fix GvG and Naxx, and then wild would be a more interesting format. They have decided to focus on standard instead and so has most of the community.

I dusted all my wild cards because standard feels like a new game simple as that.

Sludge Belcher, Piloted Shredder, Mad Scientist, Dr. Boom, Shielded Minibot and Muster for Battle, that's what's wrong with Wild mode.
I don't like playing with or against those cards and thankfully I no longer have to, good riddance.

People are just exausted of playing agains shredders, scientist and Boom. Probably in a few expansions, say, in 2017, Wild will be more exciting.

The big issues with wild:
1) The devs have no intention of balancing wild.
2) Some GvG and Naxx cards were horribly broken and unfun to play with or around. These will always be a part of wild.
