The only viable Control decks now really are Warrior and Paladin. Warriors got a replacement minion to activate Patron and Paladins got Forbidden Healing and Ragnaros, Lightlord as if Lay on Hands weren't enough. In addition nearly every class got early game minions that pose a threat, with the exception of Priest. You're competing with Control Warriors who can armor up to Infinity and Paladins who can heal for 20 2x a game, plus Lay on Hands plus make you play with 1 damage minions.
The main decks in play right now are: Agro Shaman, Control Paladin, Control Warrior and Miracle Rogue. There is a sprinkling of Tempo Mage and Warlocks, but that's pretty much it. Druids and Paladin's can't compete. If you disagree, look at the published deck lists from last weekends pro tournament from the America's Spring Prelims.
The Priest class has a hand full of defensive cards trying to not get hit in the face and has to rely on RNG or mid to late game taking cards from the other player. Long-term, the class isn't competitive. Blizzard needs to re-work the class or just kill it off.
Blizzard is definitely coming to hearthpwn to read your whiny duplicative bullshit.
Nzoth priest is good against paladin, warrior and aggro shaman, which are the top 3 must common decks. I don't get it.
N'Zoth Priest is good against Paladin because he can steal Tirion but other than that, the Agro and Mid-Range decks eat Priest before he can even get a minion in play.

Then tech in Doomsayers to answer faster decks. Are you still running Northshire Cleric? Decent number of pros have removed the 1 drop because it's too situational against a meta with 3 or more power.

Naw I gave up on Northshire Cleric early on. So many responses to the contrary and I doubt if anyone looked at the tournament decks that I posted. Not one Pro-player is playing a Priest deck in competition. I'm not arguing that you'll go 0-100 playing Priest, but it's long term simply not competitive.
why does every class have to be 100% competitive all of the time? Before Standard Dragon and Elise Priest were both usable decks, and to an extent they still are.
Besides, why would you want the most frustrating class to play against to be overly present in the meta. When Priest is actually reliable he becomes very frustrating very fast

Really? Played this annoying #istealeverything priest myself, he's very viable if you don't kill him fast enough.
Some days ago i played 2 matches in a row as dragon nzoth pally vs the same priest (thanks blizz for that "perfect" RNG).
Match1: he steal everything, i died from fatigue. Match 2: managed to get him down to 3 hp or so while not giving any "tasty" targets, then ran out of SMOrc.

Usable is not competitive. Dragon and Elise Priest were never better than a Tier 2 deck AND Priest has never been a Tier 1 deck. My question to you is why does Priest have to be non-competitive 100% of the time?
Im playing Dragon and Monkey Priest and they are both pretty strong man. Not to even mention NZoth Priest which is pretty good and it can beat a lot of decks.
Priest still has SW pain, death, entomb, museum curator, shifting shade... they are pretty competitive.
Priest's removal are only useful when you draw them in time. Your "draw them in time" has to compete with an opponent's "a minion on curve every turn." You can see why Priest is not as viable as it once was.

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.
The vast number of OP but situational cards is made up for by lack of burst and power. It is the very nature of the priest class, IMO, it should never be the defining deck, but rather a counteractive one.
Aye, I get the point of tournaments stuff. Even then, it's just one tournament, 32 decks, so even if you can argue something from that, it's not statistically significant even as a tournament thing.
However, TBH I care little for tournaments. Tournaments are important for HS as they give it a pro aura. But HS is not built around pro tournaments.
Give us statistics of ladder and then we can reason about how priest is viable or competitive.
Stop using the same old "Look at what the pros are using in tournaments" argument.
Malachi, you're looking at this wrong. You're looking at tournament decks, and asking why Priest isn't competitive. You must consider a few things: 1) Tournament decks are not ladder decks. 2) Many people in that tournament have a favorite, and Priest probably isn't one of them.
So yes, the pros have analyzed that Warriors, Rogues, Shamans and Warlocks are better in that specific tournament than a Priest is. But if you take a look at Reynad or Kibler's streams or youtube, they are winning with Priest, in ladder.
A ladder deck always needs to change to adapt to the most common fight on ladder, and Priest does that easily. But a Tournament deck is static, doesn't change, so it's better to have an all around consistent deck instead. Priest is competitive in ladder because it has great specific cards to counterplay specific decks, while Warriors, Rogues, and Paladins don't counter a specific deck, but play their own control game.
So the tournament has less Priests because the player can't prepare the Priest deck against what the opponent is play, therefore making it better to play other classes who don't need as much preparation.
You must be aware, Malachi, that Priest is competitive in ladder, just not in a tournament (compared to other classes).
Thank the RNG gods priest is not tier 1 or 2. It's the most obnoxious, boring and reactive class in HS, making it very annoying to play against. I hope they never become good enough to become popular in ladder because that will be the day I probably stop playing this game.
Turn 4 death to all Priests out there. : )

Again proof from tempostorm.com that the class is not competitive. The top Priest deck is Rank 8 and there are 8 classes, what does that tell you?

I tried having fun once. It was awful.

I use Dragon Priest with great success even I am a newbie to Dragon Priest. Up to rank 5 it is totally working.
Not tried C'Thun Priest and Control Priest yet, but surely they are not weak at all. Not to mention N'Zoth Priest which can be monster.

Priest is my favorite class, Priest can be fun, Priest can be competitive, But I agree with the OP that it's never been top tier.
Here is a breakdown of the 32 decks used by the finalists in the Hearthstone Americas Spring Preliminaries, by class:
Shaman 8
Warrior 7
Warlock 6
Rogue 4
Mage 3
Hunter 2
Druid 1
Paladin 1
Priest 0
I think is a far more telling stat than any opinion cited in this thread so far. Every finalist had a Shaman deck. None had a Priest deck.
