Since expansion release nearly 50% of my games have all been against shaman, and I know you probably share the same sentiments if you arent playing shaman yourself. It was no surprise that they were going to be the strongest on paper going in to release, but now it is clear they are borderline if not insanely overpowered. From the best one drop in the game to huge tempo swings with free 5/5 taunt, to tuskar totemic summoning bullshit every game, and even having the best weapon in the game. Its time to unite and stop this madness.
Prior the release, it was said Secret paladin was the strongest deck in the game, and for many months it went unanswered among the community, but in the later months it was toppled and many of its weaknesses started to show (hence the rise of zoo again.) I believe the same can be said about Shaman, we can exploit its weaknesses if there are any.
What are some good tips, decks and classes that are good at curbing out this nonsense. I am at a loss at the moment because I have tried everything and am now looking for the community for some help!
While Shaman is finally the flavour of the month after how many years? This sounds like a L2P issue and some mega salt. It is fairly easy to play around face shaman.
That said if its over 50% of your matches then tech a deck for it. If you know after 4 totems you're going to see a ToTD with a flamewreath combo plan for it and win. Yes face can be aggravating but shaman isn't the only face deck out there, and it certainly isnt the fastest. Secret paladin was easy if you know how to play around secrets.
Go make the deck you're losing to and play it. You'll learn its weaknesses and strengths very quickly. To answer your last question token decks both druid and rogue seem to fair very well at controlling the board early while applying pressure on the opponent, I've also had lots of success playing zoolock when facing a face shaman. Controlling the board and getting taunts up to lock out DH as much as possible usually wins but you need to apply pressure, if the shaman player feels the need to trade the board to protect there own health you can tilt the board in your favour. A good player with face shaman will trade for the win though, not for the board.
I'm laddering with a midrange spell shaman this season and hit rank 5. That said I got beat numerous times and I was simply outplayed by my opponent in most cases.
Firstly, shaman is strong in this expansion indeed, but it doesn't mean that it is completely broken. In fact, many decks are adding some tech cards in order to counter shaman, and some classes ARE good against shaman. So I don't think there would be so much salt.
3. Any kind of mage running Flamestrike works as well. If you can make good trade with him, a Flamestrike on turn 7 is usually an auto-concede for him. As long as you can keep on adding pressure on him after that, it is impossible for him to recover.
4. Control/tempo warrior can counter shaman pretty efficiently. Warrior has cheap removals and has Brawl to deal with shaman's board. Warrior's armor also prevents a lot of burst damage.
Note: nowadays many decks are running Harrison Jones and Stampeding Kodo. These two cards are good tech cards against shaman.
I apologize that shaman is no longer free wins, however don't get so upset about it. Was thrall to be a pushover forever, while all the other classes were playable to godlike? You should be ashamed.
Yes, shaman got shit on for a while now, but going from mediocre to overpowered is silly. It almost feels like shaman is the kid who got bullied and now hes coming back with a weapon for revenge.
I think Tempo Warrior is the best deck right now. Shaman is the most enticing. It's never been this good or had its time in the sun, so a lot of people that care about things like gold portraits or just want to play something new are playing Shaman.
Its the best class in the game right now, and outside Flamewreathed Faceless the new cards are fun and unique.

Yes, it was his destiny
Also, just play Freeze mage if you're actually finding that many shamans. Freeze beats everything right now except Control Warrior and Patron Warrior (Patron is rare now). Even Tempo Warrior is an okay matchup and N'zoth Pally is fairly even (slightly unfavored if the Pally runs mad Rag and favored if he doesn't). TL;DR play freeze
Its not even remotely as bad as you claim anyway. You're just salty because you dont want to work out a strategy against it. Another one of the "instant gratification" generation.
I'm 7-0 against shamans with a midrange nzoth hunter, and its not even considered good because I don't pay2win. (No sylvanis, cairne, only one call of the wild).
Now we are complaining about mid-range shaman? At least I could kind of feel ya when people were complaining about rockbiter doomhammer and tunnel trogg into turn 4 7/7. Now I think people are just salty.
I confess I've contributed to this cancer. As a very casual (and very terrible!!) F2P player, I never reached anything above 17 (except that time I gave in and spent all my dust on Patron Warrior two days before the Warsong nerf, and hit 15). Now with a totem shaman deck, I'm level 10. Okay, it's nice to know I don't have to spend cash on a "free" game, but this seems a bit unreasonable. Unless I just suddenly learned to play, which seems unlikely.
Shaman is good, but there are multiple decks that counter it quite well (unlike secret pally which had to specifically be built against to counter).
Try out tempo warrior, priest, nzoth pally, or renolock for better chances.
First point: Secret Paladin was countered hard by Freeze mage (about 75-25 winrate, As a Freeze mage player myself, I was HAPPY to Face off against a Secret Pally, because it was an easy win with a side of sweet Justice), that's why there were so many Freeze mages pre-rotation. Zoolock (with a good draw) and Control priest also had about 60-40 matchups against Secret pally. So I don't know why you think you had to built a deck exclusively to counter Secret pally.
Second point: N'zoth Paladin is only strong against Aggro Shaman, Midrange Shaman Has Hex, which can safely deal with their deathrattles AND deny them being revived by N'Zoth, the Corruptor, since it doesn't technically kill them

Ehm no... I tried playing Freeze and it's plain awful... Half of the time it's either Warrior or Shaman and both Matchups suck pretty bad.... If that wasn't enough stupid Ragnaros is making it's comeback, and I think Freeze Players (or at least I do) hate him even more than Loatheb...... Freeze isn't in a good spot right now,if you want to play a Combo Deck you'll need to play Miracle Rogue or Combolock....

Seriously: which deck/class do you play? Why? Because we can't help if you don't post it.
As a shaman cancer myself, I can tell you that control priests will fair pretty well against shammy decks, unless the RNG gods smile upon the sham

1. Priest is extremely good against shaman. Auchenai Soulpriest + Circle of Healing, Holy Nova, Excavated Evil are great cards that can deal with those small creatures and totems. Shadow Word: Death is good against his Flamewreathed Faceless, and Harrison Jones for his Doomhammer. If you play these cards on the correct time, all you need to do is to watch him concede.
2. Paladin is also good against shaman. Wild Pyromancer + Equality is extremely powerful to deal with his board. Aldor Peacekeeper can shut up his Flamewreathed Faceless and Forbidden Healing can protect yourself from dying by his bursts.
3. Any kind of mage running Flamestrike works as well. If you can make good trade with him, a Flamestrike on turn 7 is usually an auto-concede for him. As long as you can keep on adding pressure on him after that, it is impossible for him to recover.

Shaman would be easily fixed with two nerfs:
1) The 5/5 taunt (Thing From Below) only gets its cost reduced when using the Hero Power to summon totems.
2) Tuskarr Totemic only summons the Hero Power totems.
Both those cards are broken currently. Tuskarr Totemic is a zero-risk-with-heavy-reward card that has synergy with the broken card Thing From Below.
Note: An alternative nerf for Thing From Below is to make it only count totems summoned while it is in your hand.
im just a turtle...on a boat.
TL;DR play freeze
Jesus, shut up. Open a window or something.

Moved to Deck Building. Also, Shaman is not OP. I feel this has been the most enjoyable expansion of Hearthstone, offering many varieties.
If you're happy and you know it... well that's good :)

Control Warriors rekt them and it s not even fair.. Always love it when I play against those shamans
