I’ve gotten legend with zoolock and midrange paladin, and I don’t use the card back because I feel ashamed that I get stuck at rank 5 with grim patron or miracle rogue and have to switch to a lower skilled deck.
I felt a lot better when I got 12 wins in arena with all 9 classes then when I made legend. It took a lot more effort to make that goal happen.
I don't have much respect for the legend card back or golden portraits. I think Blizzard should make some higher achievements.

i would say nothing, there are so many people having it after secret paladin became a thing. They should have a card back for top 100 at the end of the season
I was hoping someone would make this comment so I could just back it up, sit back and enjoy the view. Kappa
I agree, @blizz pls make a top 100 finisher card back. Ty
you guys can be as elitist as you want to but the card back is an individual achievement more than anything.
if you've actually gotten legend and pushed regularly for it you'll know that it's not easy. even if you're playing a strong deck it's still not as easy as people say it is.
so people can make up excuses for not getting legend etc. but yes it takes a lot of time but more than anything it actually takes skill too. trust me, even if you're playing a tier 1 deck you're going to go against other tier 1 decks so you actually need to know how to play well at the game.
i used to make a lot of excuses too, too much time, oh i got rank 5 already and legend doesn't mean anything any more, people faceroll to legend, no point to get legend, etc. blah blah blah but after I got it I realized it's actually hard to get and still an achievement
Imho the card back is a huge highlight, just as golden portraits.
I always think:"Okay this guy is good, I need to think every move carefully"
So yeah, it's fun for me since it gets more intersting.
That's how I used to think, but after endless misplays from people with Legend cardbacks, I now feel like it is fairly meaningless.... people using the Legend cardback are normally trying to intimidate other players with it, but I don't notice any difference in skill level anymore.
Someday, when I have more time on my hands, I'll push for legend. I feel confident I can get it, and I'll want to have the card back for the sake of collection. I probably won't use it much, assuming I ever get it. Kind of like the Galaxy Gifts promotion card back. I used the emulator to get it so I'd have it, but I practically never use it. For now, I'll be content with Rank 5 every season for the golden epic dust reward.

Unlike the Galaxy card back, this one is actually very good looking.
Well for me it was more proving to myself that I could get there, and from a collectors perspective I want as many cardbacks as possible. How much is it worth? Well I think it's mostly based on your perspective, how much time you have to play hearthstone, and how much winning really matters to you.
As for financial worth if someone were to hypothetically buy an account, I wouldn't value it that highly, I think Blizzard event cardbacks, Tespa and the gold one for going to certain Chinese tournaments are pretty highly sought after though.
You also have to remember while there are thousands of Legends in EU alone each season, it is still a very small percentage of the player base so I think it's still a decent accomplishment (as far as games accomplishments go).
The way I play now is rather than trying to hit X rank each season, I just try to make as few mistakes as possible with the deck I'm playing, I find it takes the frustration out of losing if I think this way, and makes the game more enjoyable overall.

True. But not as good looking as the Dalaran Flame card back, which I do have.
Unless you got to legend by botting (in which case Blizzard hopefully found out and you got your ass banned), legend is definitely a worthwhile achievement no matter what deck you used. Unless your win rate is really high (which, even with a top tier deck can be difficult at the higher ranks), you had to have grinded out a lot of games. Staying motivated to actually reach the goal of legend is an achievement itself. Because let's say you used Secret Paladin. Well, that means you also had to play against your fair share of Secret Paladins and probably Combo Druids too. That doesn't mean anything? Most people would probably quit after playing the 50th Combo Druid or 64th Secret Paladin that season. If you got to legend, I don't care what deck you used, it's worthwhile achievement. It doesn't automatically mean that they are a great player, but it is a worthwhile achievement nonetheless. They hit their goal while most other people would quit.
But why someone would actually question the worth of their own achievement after the fact, I don't really understand. Who cares what someone thinks and how you got something? You got it yourself, and if it means something to you, I would leave it at that. And trying to judge how someone else got their legend rank? I dunno, it just seems pointless to me. Everyone makes mistakes and misplays. And everyone will always get the short end of the stick on draws in some games. If they want to show off their legend card back, good for them. They earned it. And if some of you guys feel pressured or shamed to use it (because you feel you need to be "perfect" and never misplay), get over it. If you lose a game, you lost, no matter what card back you showed. Do you really care what your opponent (who you will probably never meet face to face in your life) thinks? I mean seriously, if you got to legend, just be glad you did something that most people who play this game will never do, and that will always be worth something.

"Men judge and men are afraid of judgment." Do you really need that many words to say this much? Let me add that some judgments are better than others. But if some judgments are better than others, then perhaps you should care what others think! Wow ....
I got the legend cardback and I don't use it. When I see someone with it I think "He may be good but also may have a shitton of time and could have used a very easy deck, like face huntard or secret retardin". Getting to legend is a waste of time imo. Did it once, probably never again
If you were a good player as pro players do u can get in legend with 200 wins it isnt so much for 1 month with 60% winrate it`s about 340 games and it`s 10-11 games per day.
Legend cardback is bragging rights, and this works very well in card games, when people want to show off their e-peen. There's nothing wrong with this, since it reminds the player and the opponent that the guy having them has SOMEHOW pushed to legend once. That's it.
People who don't have them are trying to make this achievement feel like you did something bad, and people that have them pop up in this thread and tell us a story about how they made it to legend with decks that weren't tier 1 back in the days.
So just like i said, bragging rights for the owners, hate-envy from the non-owners.
If you are a dedicated player, hitting legend once is something you probably wanna do IF you have the time for it. I've been legend 4 times and only pushed for it once. The other 3 times "it just happened" due to a combination of a fine tuned deck and luck. e.g. I once got a win streak from rank 4 something straight to legend. All done with mid-range warlock.
I don't actively push for legend anymore. The difference between rank 5 and legend is non-existent deck and skill-wise and solely lies in the dedication of time. That's why I usually stop at rank 5 and only play ranked for dailies afterwards, if I have a fitting quest (win 3 games, win with warlock, play 2 mana minions, deal 100 damage etc). Currently rank 4 close to rank 3 with my C'Thun mid-range warlock. That's as good as "legend" in my book.
I've hit legend 5 times now I think. The first two times were with the old aggro paladin (before secrets). 3rd time was with tempo flamewaker Mage, 4th was BrokeBack Druid and I hit legend on Sunday with Pirate Warrior, reaching rank 140 atm. Some people might say that they're easy decks but trust me no matter what deck you play it isn't easy.
I hide the legend cardback so people don't overthink vs me.
A ELO ranking system like we have it for Chess would be much better for hearthstone too.
Blizzard had a ELO like system for starcraft/broodwar. They should make it for hearthstone too:)
Nope. You need to think about the problems generated by such a system, when adopted by a game played by 40million players. Queue times will get horrible.

Are we to seriously believe that the only people who post on these forums are all legend ranked? What a load of nonsense.
Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.

Ibn Fahd.
I'm sure everyone here complaining hit Legend with a homebrew, sub par deck, oh cut the shit people please.
It doesn't matter how you reach Legend, winning is winning.

Sometimes I think about investing my time to hit legend... but ultimately I decide to have sex with my girlfriend.

it is still worth quite a bit. Even if you use a "broken" deck you have to play against that same deck when laddering.
