Literally only past reason was to try fun decks without losing stars but now with wild and standard there seems literally no reason to play casual. Just wondering if theres any reason to keep it or could they just remove it?
Mainly what people above said. Although one thing - casual is mainly people testing their new decks, so you don't really face what you'll face on ladder. There's a lot less aggro and a lot more control (cause who needs to test an aggro deck?), so its basically got it's own meta.

On the other hand, it's also filled with people who just want to do quests, often with a class they don't have many cards with, which means they are more likely to play aggro.

People who refuses to play aggro out of principle are even worse than people who play exclusively aggro.
One should seek to become a complete player and play all archetypes, including ones that he despises for whatever irrational reasons.
Second of all, casuals original purpose was to be a place where you can have some unserious fun and just have fun games where you don't give a shit. Until people started playing cancer in it to grind for gold. Pathetic nolifes.
This thread pops up again from time to time and it always really just boils down to the fact that some people want Casual to be something it isn't, and never really was. It's a place where you can play fun decks with no consequences, not a place where everyone has to do that. Casual is less of a "fun" mode and more of a "do whatever you want because it won't affect anyone's rank" mode.
People go there to practice decks, play weird decks, grind gold, finish quests quickly with a class they don't want to ladder with, or play games when they have a shit connection or may need to bail in the middle. The problem is that different people want it to be only one or two of those things, and you're not going to get that from a game mode where everyone who plays gets to decide what they're going to bring.
You have the exact same tryhards and netdecks in casual as you do in ranked. 1 our of 50 games you might play someone with an original creation or gimmick deck. So if you want to test how your deck fares against current meta without losing ranks, casual is the place to go.
Casual is awesome. I will play competitive decks there to test them for eventual use on ladder, or just to learn them so I can play against them more effectively. I'll also do dailies there with wacky decks that I know are bad but can grab a win now and then. It's a great mode, and I feel like I encounter fewer tryhards and farmers there than I used to.
People complaining about face hunters and other horrible netdecks in casual is always amusing. It has a seperate MMR. You'll notice that too if you stop playing ladder decks in casual mode, like the douches you are complaining about. You're being matched with other people who play high winrate decks in casual.
Casual is for testing decks or completing quests with classes you don't have a good deck for. Where the hell would we do those things without casual? In wild? Yeah not a fucking chance.
Casual is where you go with really good netdecks so that you can crush n00bs playing home-brew unique snowflake decks and get your daily quests done as fast as possible.

And how would you test a new deck without casual ? In wild mode? No thanks...
If you are test-driving decks before throwing them in ranked you want to have a ranked-like environment. You can't have that in wild.
If you say LUL in Twitch chat you are a moron. If you do it outside of Twitch - even more so!

I am the matrix.
I disagree. I feel like casual is people try harding with net decks or playing face hunter/zoo
Casual was supposed to be fun…
Sadly it's pure cancer with only Net Decks and Facetards :/

Well, first of all, wild is still ranked.

Fuck cubelock
I use Casual to play fun decks like Yogg Mage that have low winrates so that I don't have to worry about losing stars.

Nothing doing, traveler.
It's also a place to go when
* you're on a shitty mobile connection
* you're too tired but you just want to grind that last win
* you're tilted and don't give a fuck
Play casual so that no lose star when lose a lot with try decks.

I play Casual mode for when I need to complete quests and it's with a class I don't main.
