I just played against a player who refused to hit end turn until it was right at the end of the rope. It got so annoying I eventually left the game. By turn 7 I had spent around 20 minutes on the game.
Personally I think there needs to be a policy who abuse that system. something like a count on how often the rope pops up to slowly reduce the players turn.
The game gives each player 90 seconds to act out their turns. What they do with that time is irrelevant. You might be annoyed, but it's perfectly legal to do absolutely nothing with your turn. Deal with it.
Exactly, I completely agree as it wastes players time and is highly frustrating. He was going warrior so it was going to go to fatigue, at that rate it would have been about a 45 minute game which is completely unreasonable. We were at around rank 12.
None the less, that game would have lasted nearly 45 minutes at that rate which just is so unreasonable. No matter if I won, it would have been a total waste of time. I'd rather take the loss and play 4-5 games in that time span.
It isn't the case if they don't do anything and the rope finally hits and their turn becomes about 10 seconds. Using all your mana and then just sitting for 90 seconds is trolling. Next time try not to be so rude in a reply.

It still doesn't detract from the point that they can do it if they so feel like it. You can just tab out and do something else. It doesn't even have to bothersome. I just tend to go look up some more music or something when my opponent takes too long. I don't really see how it's rude to simply state that the rule exists and that players are allowed to use it. I'm telling you to deal with the problem because they're not going to do anything about it, so that's all you can do. Call it rude if you want, I just prefer to be direct.

Just go on Hearthpwn to kill the time and do the same back...he will either concede or at least stop abusing, very often pleading you to stop as well...used to be by spamming "Sorry" hehe idk what they'd do to beg you to stop now :P

What is Hearthstone to you? A fun and semi-competitive game with wacky effects and crazy RNG outcomes or just a card game you wanna grind as many wins you can get as fast as possible in?

I usually don't notice. With a tempo deck you have to calculate a lot of things - how much damage you can do next turn, how you can clear their board, then factor in the, if I draw this, then factor in the if they draw that. Go ahead and rope, I could use the time to figure it all out.
I'll be totally honest, I'm incredibly unlucky and sometimes I get so frustrated that I do this. What people are saying is mostly correct, but leaving the game was a bad move. I've never had someone quit because I roped them, I don't do it much but if someone quit I would be tempted to do it more. Roping them back is also a terrible move, I usually tab out or watch tv when I'm letting the timer go and if you take your time too, I don't really care and you're wasting your own time.

If you quit because they are roping you, then they are only going to do it more.
It is hillarious, and very sad at the same time, how OP complains about this, but with his attitude he only encouraged his opponent to do this same thing to other people after that match. I really don't know who is worse, OP or the guy who roped him. Terrible attitude from both sides. :(
No you dont need to wait for your opponent to burn the rope every single turn, you know people who genuinely taking the time to think or just being mean. Blizz should take some action on this behavior if there is a possible way.

Is there any way to report that kind of abuse?

Those people are very rare but yea there should be a way to report someone who ropes every turn for no reason.
Btw what rank were you playing at and what deck was <snipped name> using?

i e 2 bits of advice. Do it back and win. iif you lose its a waste of time, if you win its just an inefficient use of time.
That's true but it still is very abusive to the system.

Unfortunately I primarily play on my phone so I can't tab out. So that unfortunately isn't a good solution to the issue.
It really isn't that long. If anything, use that time to better plan your own turn play order.
I typically have a video or a song playlist running in the background, and I suggest you do the same.
Tech in Nozdormu. Handy, that.

Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
