Has blizzard given any good explanation about why introducing standard format, instead of balancing cards like Boom, Shredder, Secrets e.t.c.? I have not played the format much yet, but doesn't it feel like Wild will be extremely unbalanced with the new cards? And standard, even tho I like it and it feels pretty balanced, is kinda missing the other cards :/.. I really liked some of them, like shredder and healbot and so on. But imo Wild is just.. Wild right now. Unbalanced, unpolished.. i dunno.
I just don't like it, I guess. I want to use all cards, but I don't want balance issues. And I don't want to choose between two formats. I want eveyone to play in the same, with all cards. Mh..
And another question. How will competative look in the future? Will it be both wild and standard tournaments, or only standard? Or maybe noone knows yet..
Don't bm please, I know I'm late, but i just want some opinions and information :)
One more thing. What I really like about standard, is that some old cards are now viable again! But.. couldn't they have done the same with just some nerfs of other cards?
Nerfing cards creates bad taste for everyone involved. Would it really be better if they kept nerfing old cards just so they can introduce competetive new ones? Or powercreeped new sets so old ones become irrelevant ?
Anyway iirc one of the main reasons was so new players don't have to catch up with every single set in the future just to be able to play
Standard is used in many different card games and is used to shift metas ;however, wild is still around if you don't want to be limited to the newest sets.
It's not only because of the balance, the formats' purpose is to shake up the meta. For example Freeze Mage, Zoolock or Conrol Warrior aren't op enough to be nerfed, but are too popular and with formats there will hopefully be some new deck archetypes.

Constant nerfs would create too much free dust. Too much salt too when popular and well liked cards got smashed to let the new stuff shine.
