I think most people that are complaining about C'Thun, don't have enough C'Thun cards to make a good deck (f2p).
While f2p will eventually get the cards needed... at the start this expansion definitely favors those you opened a lot of packs. Either with gold, prepurchase, or pack bundles.
I love my Secret C'Thun deck with Reno... but I also understand f2p frustrations, as these cards are kinda ridiculous.
WotOG Hasn't been out for a full day in EU yet but I'm really happy so far. People are just trying to shove all their new cards into decks so it's a bit of a fun mess on the ladder right now!
I know some people are saying that the new meta is stale already and I can honestly see their point. There's a ton of C'Thun decks around and it's not going to be very long before Shaman becomes public enemy number 1. But I'm happy because the game seems more balanced now. Yes, some games you lose by turn five because you draw like crap and your opponent has a dream start but in general the meta seems more competitive and most games feel like anyone has a chance of winning.
Also need to add that I think Blizzard did a great job on the nerfs. Some cards are more powerful than others, sure but there doesn't seem to be that level of ridiculousness anymore.
In any case, it's only been a day. Things will normalise once people find out which decks are the crotch stompers and which decks are the crotches.
The future of HS looks very bright indeed... 50 million registered players!

I like the attitude!
I'll add that this is the most fun I've had playing HS. I started just before TGT release and only had a vague idea what I was doing when it hit. Too, that set was so underpowered relative to the rest of the pool that it had much less impact.
It's great to be able to actually build decks from the ground up rather than tinkering in the margins of an established meta.
I've only tried out Trump's C'thun Druid so far but it's been pretty amazing. In my second game I faced off against a C'thun Warrior; C'thun got executed but I brought him back with a Doomcaller that i teched in, and won the game from the second time I played him!
People are still whining about aggro just like every other time new stuff comes out. The meta always adapts. In fact, notice the contradiction here, apparently everyone is bitching about the aggro shamans while the other half are saying Cthun decks are destroying. Literally the extremes of both aggro and control decks, so make up your mind!
That's not a contradiction at all -- Control decks spawn aggro decks and aggro decks spawn control decks. The aggro shaman wants to win before control, well, controls, or before cthun vomits all over the board. Control wants to shut down the zerg so they can build up cthun. People SHOULD be whining about both. If they weren't, it would be "Cthun is too powerful, because I didn't get to play my cthun first!" Or "Aggro is too fast, I couldn't aggro faster!"
The fact that the two facilitate each other isn't the contradiction, that wasn't what I saying. The fact that people cannot decide on what side of the meta the Day-1 expansion is; that's the contradiction. There cannot be two meta, one of them is incorrect about the saturation..
I don't even understand what you're trying to say with your second point. Whining does not change anything. Showing the reason why this is a problem and how it should be adressed, that isn't whining. Not that it needs to be said anyway, the meta always adapts.

I feel that the C'thun decks are mostly because of it being a cheap standard deck. Same with shaman (which IS insane by the way)
We don't know which decks are going to dominate the meta yet, since nobody is playing the refined decks with niche cards that cost a lot of dust. For example, I've been playing midrange enrage warrior and it was decent, but with blood warriors it might be a lot better still, but nobody is going to CRAFT blood warriors right now.
I tested so far Midrange Hunter, Face Shaman, N'Zoth Rouge and C'Thun Druid. Druid was mediocre to be honest. Not shure how viable it really is. Midrange Hunter needs to Curve out/ take the board. N'Zoth Rouge and Zoo are so far the strongest Decks in my Testgames.
I played once against N'Zoth Rouge and the deck looked extremely strong and fun. Sylvana into Raptor into Shadowcaster into N'Zoth turned the C'Thun in my hand into a liability throughout the entire game. I'm really close to crafting Sylvana and Xaril but I should probably wait a couple of days.
Besides that I've found that Druid and Warrior aren't as strong as I initially thought they would be. I've had more success with a tempo oriented minion based C'Thun Warrior build with stuff like Blood to Ichor, Acolyte, Whirlwind, Bash and Battle Rage over the more heavy control cards like Brawl, Justicar and Shield Block. And Freeze Mage is still pretty strong if you can dodge Face Shaman and C'Thun Warrior. Losing Mad Scientist wasn't the biggest loss. You usually do find and develop your 2 Ice Blocks in time. Though Ice Barrier has become significantly worse.
I was super excited but that quickly turned to huge disappointment after a few matches. I face tons of decks that I have no chance of beating. I got virtually nothing good out of the free packs I got and being a relatively new f2p, I don't have enough dust or gold to have enough cards from the expansion to be able to build a deck with it. The decks I used to enjoy playing don't work agaist anything I meet in either mode now and Standard is a nightmare.
I'll wait till the meta stabilizes a bit but right now it looks like I will be uninstalling the game soon because I can't play it anymore.
I'm not a new player, but I rarely try to go higher than 15 on ranked, and didn't pre-order packs. I was excited going into yesterday, but now I feel similar to you, in that I got nothing good in my WoG packs and have thus been struggling to win games in Standard without my GvG and Naxx cards...it was very frustrating to drop from rank 14 to 18 before winning a measley two games (with priest, granted - maybe I would've been better off with a different class). I'll probably switch back to Wild so I can keep using GvG cards, after I finish winning seven more Standard mode games. Once I've gotten a larger pool of cards from WoG, I'll try this again.
First impressions? Sure it was a few fun hours, but is that all? We're stuck with these cards for another 1/3 of a year? It somehow feels so empty and like you already know all cards.
I kinda like the new meta its a lit bil Slower and people are finally inovating in deck creations, that's awesome . Of course C'thun is powerfull but i think u can handle it with the existent control cards.
Shaman - seems strong and potentially has multiple build outlets
Warrior - control lost some steam from what I have seen. The C'Thun game doesnt seem to quit match Warrior's tactics and they are really just down tools for their control game. I have seen some interesting takes on a more aggressive warrior which I am hopeful takes off.
Priest - seems to be the best C'Thun build from what I have seen so far. In my mind they just have great removal and sustain.
Druid - I have no idea what these guys are doing right now. I have seen one C'Thun deck do decently but he hit really good ramp game and draw off Nourish on a good curve with I think a turn 8 14/14 C'Thun. Honestly I dont know if they are that consistant right now.
Hunter - Midrange seems to be doing well. Face hunter is nowhere in sight.
Pally - looks.... a little rough right now and might take some fine tuning to really find its place. I hear that aggro pally might still be good but I am finding it hard to replicate with regular results.
Rogue - I am hopeful but honestly I have not played against much rogue so far. I saw one C'Thun deck do decently against me an probably 4 other rogues that I just questioned what the class was doing right now.
Warloc - I thought Zoo was dead. I was proven wrong. I have no idea how any other loc builds are doing but Darkshire Councilman completely cought me by surprise in the one game I have played against zooloc.
Mage - It seems like there are good tools but most of what I have seen have been people branching only slightly from tempo or freeze mage. It sort of feels like people are oddly mixing the two decks together right now. I honestly dont know what to make of Mage right now.
Overall, I am seeing a lot of C'Thun decks right now. After C'Thun the thing I am seeing the most is Shaman decks.

Twin Emps into Tirion, what?!? Lmao.
Your right, this is the correct answer... being F2P is always going to be behind the curve. And people dont like feeling like they dont have a chance.
Sure building a cheapish aggro deck isnt too difficult, but it wont always compete.
Secondly if someone just started in the last 6 months, theyre still probably missing an Adventure or 2, AND are still trying to build up theyre Classic set which is very important.
I feel the people that are enjoying it are people that have a near complete Classic Set, and both Adventures, important TGT cards (Pretty much "caught up" to the current expac), because they can build anything they want.
For example, Ive been playing for 2 years, have a near complete classic set, and i was able to just save gold/dust for months for just this expac, and now that I have most of the ones I want... Im starting to save for the next Adventure, and so on, and so on... once your caught up the game DOES get cheaper in a sense.
TLDR - The hardest part for new f2p players will be catching up. Classic will be a bitch to do now tho with arena awards being current expac only
This is why you MIGHT play Renounce Darkness. My packs gave me two, so I had to test it. Divine shields are from another steward of darkshire to the left of the field. My opponent played something just as I pressed print screen :S Turns out, the steward is really good with Possessed Villager and Imp Gang Boss.
I (barely) won the game. But I did win. RENOUNCE DARKNESS BETTER THAN C'THUN DRUID!!!!!!

Aggro, control, I think the real complaint is that people don't win every game. Boo hoo.
is witched back to wild. way more fun than the old gods imo

Missing lethal since June 2015.
wow. people complain about everything.
3 months ago "Stale meta... ooo new stuff coming out... in 3 months (crying/wah wah emote here)
1 month ago "meta still stale and all these cards are either bad or OP"
Day after expansion is out "Meta is stale.. all druid Cthun or aggro shaman"
how about play for a full month and let new decks and ideas settle before you complain about everything. -.-

Damn you snowboarders!
I like how people are crying about Sham's 7/7 and the BGH nerf...when BGH still counters that card PERFECTLY.

Standard > Wild

I thinks shamans got buffed a little too much but the only C'thun decks I've encountered are C'thun Druids which my dragon pally stomps on.
