Before you read I'd just like to clarify that I'm referring the content of this thread to a specific yet large group of people, not everyone. You should know if this IS or is not meant for you.
Over the years of using this site I've seen countless threads about self righteous people who claim that "net decking is ruining the game", that "people who play face hunter or secret pally are ruining the game or are just stupid", and countless threads of this nature. Inevitably these threads get many pro arguments to them and gain much support, but here's my opinion: anyone who ever said such things is stupid.
For the simple reason that everyone should enjoy the game based on how THEY'RE playing it, and not how others play it. "Oh, someone just played a secret paladin against me, this deck is cancer, this game is cancer, this game sucks, I hate this game, they're ruining the game for me". Just... Why? If you care about deck building and playing decks you enjoy more than winning then why do you get salty when you play against someone who chooses to play a different style of playing than yours? It's like if a team of football chooses to play one strategy then hate everyone else who's not playing the same strategy as them, and to add insult to injury, they're also being self righteous, claiming that the others' strategy is overused and "cancerous".
To everyone who complain about other people's play style (such as face decks, secret pally, etc), get off your high horse and enjoy the game from the way you play it, don't ruin your experience based on how others play it and countlessly complain about it, because then you're being a hypocrite and a baby.
And to everyone who enjoys the game playing face decks, secret pally, etc, and never complain about the mistreatment you receive from self righteous people such as those described above, and just enjoy the game from they're own perspective without calling anyone not doing the same "cancerous", I give you a cookie.
Not because of different styles, but because Secret paly is ridiculously powerful, making building or playing other deck against it much more difficult.
it's not about game's situation, it's about world system on nowadays. People don't want to enjoy, they want to win. They want things to be quick. They are living for some ridiculous things. They don't want to think about things. They are not living for living and guess what? You can't change them by saying " I want you to change yourself". If you want an excellent hearthstone experience, firstly you have to change world. At this point it looks impossible to me.
Everyone lives with another person's brain, If it is going to be like that, that game will keep this situation. And One more thing is that The World and The Life aren't balanced so it is normal that the games are not balanced.
OP obviously does not know how to respect how other players enjoy HS. Whine all you want, it would not change a thing. Netdecking is here to stay.
I think so. I'm not criticising how other players enjoy HS, I respect that they can enjoy wining. Everyone enjoys wining. I'm criticising here about their human-being abilities. People is running away from their abilities like thinking. They always chose to easy way to win. it's like that the stealing is also wrong way to earn money. You can't say that is ethically true. Like cheating in the exam, it is also ethically wrong. They must realise that it is only harming themselves, not me or not anyone. I don't have any problem with players who is netdecking and being my opponent with netdecking. My problem is that there is netdecking. I can enjoy on even rank 20 and even if my whole opponents use netdecking and popular decks but they must realise that it harms theirselves.
But you re true, there is always netdecking. Because world is simple, find the easiest way to win. It's the rule.
Ugh. Anyone that complains about netdecking simply doesn't understand how deck building at a high level works.
First, you need to develop an idea for the shell. There are a finite number of cards in this game, and some of them are clearly better than others. Therefore, even if we all wanted to be pretty little unique snowflakes, there would be a lot of similar decks out there.
Once you have the shell worked out, the next step is optimizing the deck to improve your winrate against the current meta. This requires a lengthy trial and error process. We don't have perfect information about the meta, best we can do is swap cards in and out based on the decks we see most often. But it's impossible for one player to play enough games to get a large enough sample size to test whether their changes are actually effective, or whether they were just lucky/unlucky with matchups.
The only way to know for sure, is to see what other players have had success with. If several players reach high legend ranks with a certain deck, then that's a large enough sample to know that deck is effective. No one player could play enough games to fine tune a top level deck. It requires many players working together (indirectly) to do this. That's why even pros netdeck.
Let me tell you why even "Pros" are netdecking. They are streamers, they are the faces which blizzard have. Count it as a tv show. They must do that because they need that. If they don't win, how can they find a follower on their stream? or how can blizzard find new players on game ? They all (Blizzard and pro players and streamers) are earning money from these. Netdeckings, streaming, more players etc.
The whole scenario is for money, not for winning or for theorycrafting or something like that. The issue is they could make you believe to what they said. "I am a pro player and i'm netdecking because of bla bla".
It's a game. You are not earning money from that. You are not saving kids or the world by playing this. So Why the excessive ambition?
Play the game casually, enjoy it, try things, tinker decks even if you can't reach the rank 15. It's not the end of the world. You won't lose money or you won't cause a death of a kid or something more important than a game.
Ah, I forgot it. Before doing them, firstly you must tinker your brain.
If you want you can netdeck, I can't blame you for that. It's your gaming style. You can decide whatever you want. I'm just trying to make people think and in my opinion if you netdeck, you make your brain lazy. That's all.
Edit: I have added more quotes above. (first and second quotes)
Memedeck-seeker. Always tries to build new decks. Hates tournements, streamers, netdecks and poor-o players. ah, but a tournement mode could be great !!!
I agree to a point. I think net decking is unoriginal, but its certainly not ruining the game.
A lot of players don't have the card resources to experiment with different decks, so by pulling an effective deck from the internet, they can focus their dust to building one decent, competitive deck, and go from there.
I do think that net decking tavern brawl is stupid though. The whole point of brawl is to come up with something original, given the particular set of rules for the week.
Not because different style, but because Secret paly is ridiculously powerful, making building or playing other deck against it much more difficult.
So you're saying that all those complain threads were because the game is difficult?
Actually yes.
I agree with your post, just want to clarify (or at least saying what I think) that they are not complaining about facing different styles, but complaining about losing against "easy, powerful" decks, which also appear too much on ladder.

I somewhat agree with you, but there's another element to it, which I referred to in the OP that you didn't give attention to: that people who lose against such decks are constantly complaining and claiming that people who use such decks are "brainless". That means that the people who don't net deck do care about winning just as much as the people who do, except that they claim that they don't, and also they're complaining and making the net deckers look bad when losing...

out of all card games i've played (pokemon tcg, wow tcg, mtg tcg) only in hs i encountered crying about netdecking so bad... like why? thats how card games works, there are deck builders and deck users, get over it... or do you cry because you *think* you're an amazing deck constructor while in reality those decks are garbage?
Then that clearly means that you're playing to win just as much as the net deckers, only you won't admit it and call the net deckers "brainless" because they're not being as original as you. That's hypocrisy AND hurting other people for doing nothing to hurt you but playing differently than you.

Because Secret Paladin is a deck that mostly plays itself. We are mad because people are hitting high ranks without much thought, while us that put a lot of thought into card choices, mulligans, and turn by turn plays are getting crushed by decks like Secret Pally.

Your post is pretty good, yet your title "Opinion: How anyone else plays the game is none of your business." is quite misleading.
The way other people play is entirely your business, because the way the "majority" play is what defines the meta. As a player your goal is in essence to beat or at the very least compete with the current meta. In that sense how everyone plays in fact your business.
The fact that decks like secret paladin are running all over the ladder is your business because the decks you put together need to take that fact into account. You can;t go playing a deck that is bad against secret paladin and still expect good results. While there is no reason to complain about what people are playing, it is still more or less required to take note of what people are playing.
Because Secret Paladin is a deck that mostly plays itself. We are mad because people are hitting high ranks without much thought, while us that put a lot of thought into card choices, mulligans, and turn by turn plays are getting crushed by decks like Secret Pally.

Of course I'm playing to win. I am an advocate of a fair game however.
