Listen I know we all like to win but recently I decided to do some casual mode hearthstone and have a few stiff drinks. I have done this before and it's usually a blast to laugh at my drunken mistakes but the last time I did it was ridiculous the decks I was playing against. Now if your trying out a new theory crafted deck and wanna see how it does then casual is certainly the place to do it. However if your playing the current meta and have all the cards please just play ranked mode. In my course of about 8 games I played Zoo, Handlock, Midrange Shaman, Rush mage and Control warrior all with their respective legendary's. Now c'mon people its called casual for a reason you dont play the super awesome meta decks against poor otk random priest fun decks there just no sport in it.

What's the point of testing your homebrew's against crappy decks? that's basically what you're asking for.
IMO it's fun using my homebrew's VS good decks. More awesome when you win with them :)
Supposedly Casual has a match making ranking that'll match you against players near your rank (or sometimes better if you haven't played rank a lot, but have a high win-rate overall). You may just be hitting people learning new decks, tired of the Rank climb, etc. I basically assume the decks I see in rank are the decks I'll see in casual.
Well I wish my casual is the same as yours so I could actually test my own deck. People I meet in casual are horrible. I can win 10 times in a row in casual then think that my deck is actually good, only to get stomped in ranked.
This is an interesting topic because, myself, I tend to lean towards playing casual more so than on the ladder just because, well... I am a headcase and it's less stress? I have a little bit better win ratio in casual vs. ranked (granted I am only a baby r15). Nevertheless, I do play MUCH better, more experienced players in casual. I still maintain a winning %, I just find that playing ranked, is stressful for me because I am a headcase. To each their own. The only reason I even make the assumption that I am playing more experienced/possible top 10 players in casual is for a couple of reason. One veryobvious reason right off the bat is that in the past week alone I have went up against 8 different players with golden heros (I do not even have 100 wins in ranked on a single hero). The second obvious reason being these players have very well constructed decks, they understand card value and the value of trading, which I am still honing my skills in on (so I welcome the more experienced players because I learn a lot from them). Of course I see the lulz decks that I just steam roll through but I get more good matches than piss poor ones. Have fun mate, it's a game (maybe I should take my own advice, eh?)
*I have defeated 6 of the 8 goldies I have recently played against... just a toot of my own horn if I may.
I am playing also more casual than rank. Mainly because i like testing new deck and switching hero every couple of games and i can affirm that my MMR is way higher in casual than rank. First off, it doesn't reset after each season, meaning that if you have +50% win rate your casual MMR keep growing. Second is that probably 1/3 of the opponent i am facing have legendary card back. So my casual MMR is way higher that my rank would say. I have a f2p EU account and the same thing happen, i am facing legendary player maybe 25% of the time with my crappy f2p deck, so i use rank to do my quest because it is a lot easier than casual.
anyone having "troubles" like this should search the primary issue in him/herself. You have a Fear of Loss. Nothing else. Stop taking your losses as important factor. Learn to loose games. This is the only reason you might have "troubles" like this. Especially when you are new player, you need to realize that you will be loosing (a lot). If you are playing for some time then there is nothing you can complain about, just your own attitude.
Learn to loose, adjust your attitude and you will be "free" and fine again.
The only difference between Casual and Ranked is that you can see a "number" and "stars". It is totally irrelevant if you are Rank 25 or Rank 4. You still suck (just as I do) in this game. Once you are in Legendary - and below 100, only then come back complainig about some issues in match making system... untill then, learn to play the game and stop complaining on forums.
Instead of crying on forums, go and watch stream, test decks, watch videos, read articles. LEARN THE GAME before you cry out publically. Then, you will not need to cry anymore.

Good Luck & Have Fun!
Agreed mostly though I do take issue with the statement that you are not qualified to comment on matchmaking until you're in the top 100 players - That's an awfully high ceiling that in truth doesn't make a lot of sense.
Getting back to casual vs ranked I know that casual is much harder than ranked for myself simply because I play casual a lot more.
yeah, I was intentionally "elitist" here to "highlight" my point. Feel free to cry from Legendary "101" rank :D
I didn't say elitist - just a bit excessive. It begs the question - at what point does your opinion become valid? Is it when you're placing in tournaments? Is it when you're ranked above a point in the season? What if you don't rank the next season - are you still allowed to have an opinion? Maybe it's when one of your decks gets picked up by popular twitch/youtube channels?
I agree that it's on the player to improve and you should expect to lose - a lot. You shouldn't complain just because you're losing if you aren't also actively taking steps to get better. I don't agree though that you have a certain ranking for your opinions to matter.
Actually, Milk_monk, what you meant to say is go buy some freaking packs so you can even complete your quests against all of these legendaries.
Do you even remember what it is like to have only basics and a few random expert cards?
Sure, I watch and learn. I learn what I can't have without real money. I can't grow, can't move forward by gaining cards. so somebody wanting to jerk off at his own pwnage can have his jollies.
Have some empathy and stop stroking yourself at how suuperior you are in both mind and cardage.
Yo guyes (and womans :-)) I am only pleyed casual rank when I got some questes with another class then my primery. Always I pley super-agro for qvick games so when u see me plice just concede coz u will never win oke?
I don't think it's a Lrn 2 Play issue. It's that the game gives you quests for 40 Gold winning with a specific class, maybe you're rank 3+ with a Miracle, Freeze Mage, etc deck that had you spending a lot of dust on class cards, then you have to go find somewhere to win 2 games as Hunter when you don't even have UTH or Explosive Trap. The casual room will "invisibly" matchmake you against stuff like ramp Druid w/ full Legendaries, and you've got no way to complete your 40 Gold quest for your next F2P Arena.
I actually got to a point where I would ask friends to come in and throw games for me to complete these quests.
"Casual" is the place to play when you don't want to play ranked or against bots. It's not a place just to play bad decks and make up excuses for when people with better decks beat you. play against bots if you want to win.
If you want to test a deck that you're unfamiliar with, or want to play a deck that isn't good in the current meta, or do your dailies, it should be in ranked where you're penalized for losing, unless it's a completely basic deck, or Alarm-o-bot.dec, or your drunk. Casual is specifically for bad players to intentionally make mistakes and laugh at themselves, without having to worry about losing due to said mistakes.
Casual is horribly named. The meta is exactly the same as ranked. Its a place where people who are afraid of losing ranks go and play the exact same decks.

Looks like you don't fit in anywhere mate. Hopefully everyone will soon cater to your needs to make you happy.

For a lot of people, Casual is the place to practice piloting a new deck before they risk their hard-earned Ranked position with it.
I've played random decks in Casual but I've also played what you would call standard decks from the current meta. I'm not ashamed of that.
It's probably people trying to finish daily quests and don't want to lose their ranking.
Well I wish my casual is the same as yours so I could actually test my own deck. People I meet in casual are horrible. I can win 10 times in a row in casual then think that my deck is actually good, only to get stomped in ranked.
I take my all gold pirate deck into casual for giggles.
