From Many of the Streamers/Youtubers I watch, There is a rumor being spread that silence will be either removed from the game or Nerfed. There is no confirmation about this from Blizzard and I'm sure there are Forums on HearthPwn that tackle this same issue. My Question is to you Wonderful people on Hearthpwn, "Do you think that the Silence Mechanic in Hearthstone should be removed from the game/ Nerfed? and If so how do you think it should be Nerfed. how would you as a player change the Silence mechanic to make it "balanced" assuming that Silence is OP to begin with. To me The idea that Silence might be removed/changed in the game worries me just a little bit. Please Express your opinions, criticisms, or theories in this Forum Below, I am interested to see what all of you think of this topic.
I wouldn't nerf the mechanic itself. I would add cards that could "Unsilence other cards". For example, a 2 Mana 2/2 card with "Battlecry: Unsilence a Minion". Since Unsilencing isn't nearly as versatile as silencing, the card gets an extra Health over the Ironbeak Owl. Another example: 4 mana 4/4 "Battlecry: Unsilence a minion" as a stand in for Spellbreaker.
maybe they will make owl and maybe keeper only able to target friendly minions and keep Spellbreaker as a more punishing tech card if you want a classic silence in your deck?
I think the problem is not that silence exists/is powerful. The real problem is with Owl. A 2 mana silence with a body is just too damn powerful and versatile.

I think that would be a really cool Mechanic to see in the Hearthstone platform "Unsilence a minion" would be pretty cool to see but I'm not sure if that would discourage people from using silence.
Or maybe make silence a temporary debuff, like only lasting until the end of your turn, forcing you to deal the with the silenced minion that turn. Could also increase the stats on cards with silence battlecry to make up for the nerf

I do believe you are right Ironbeak Owl is too powerful especially since you can put this card in any deck with only minor punishments affecting the deck

They act similarly to Kezan Mystic and Eater of Secrets, they would act as counter/tech cards if you get tired of having your minions silenced.

It's not. You pay 1.5 mana worth of stats for the effect and in most cases rob a minion taunt or a deathrattle that is actually worth less. The cases where the silence generate value are very rare (Twilight Drake, Egg etc). It's not versatile at all since it only affects certain cards and is very bad in every other case. Silence isn't weak or powerful, it's simply NECESSARY. How else can you kill a 40 health buffed priest minion? How else can you actually play around that 4/10 turn 4 Twilight drake? What else can you do against deathrattle minions? It is simply needed to keep these things in check and make playing these type of stuff having a counter play.
Silence isn't being removed I'm pretty sure. Blizzard said that Nzoth would revive silenced death rattle minions if there was, meaning that silence would still be in the game. Also I'm pretty sure silence is one of those things that can't really be nerfed, either it would need the boot or it would stay as it is. And there aren't really any op silence cards so it's an okay mechanic.
If you let a priest minion get to 40 health, you've likely screwed up pretty seriously somewhere, and undoing that with 2 mana while putting another body in play is too powerful, and if your opponent has gimped their early game enough to have a 4/10 drake, you probably have a developed board, and could either just ignore the drake, or invest 4 mana into removing it with a more appropriately priced card than owl.
It's meta shaping, cards that aren't ridiculously OP, but skirt the line of playable without an immediate effect don't get played because any deck can (and will) run a 2 mana answer to it. Even cards that are just too good to not include (Shredder, Belcher, Tirion) get absolutely destroyed by it. It also restricts future cards from being made with similar effects.
It's NOT a "2 mana answer", because you ONLY remove the effect.
Belcher pays 1 mana for his effect compared to Senjin (pluse it loses taunt). You pay 1.5 mana for the silence effect. You are actually making a net tempo trade.
Tirion loses 2-3 stats for his insane value effect and you pay 1.5 mana for silence and it leaves him still with a 6/6. Silence Sylvannas and he still has a 5/5.
Silence in general seems fine to me but in certain situation I do feel it is too strong. For example, I play Sludge against aggro deck and the opponent just owls it and now can attack me for free.
So a change I do like to see is that maybe Silence cannot remove taunt.
In other situation like control vs control, I think it is fine...e.g. I feel it's OK if opponent silence my Syl, Tiron, Mad scientist...I still have a body that they need to deal with.
It should just be more conditional, like Light's Champion. Give us more things like "Silence a minion with Taunt" or "Silence a minion with 5 or more health" so that owl's and Keepers aren't auto-includes.

Even in the Deathlord example, nullifying 4 mana worth of buff as well as being able to bypass taunt and getting a 2/1 is a lot value for a 2 mana card.
Thats another thing... all these cards are generally used (or can be used) as a stabilizing mechanic for slower decks. If you play a Tirion/Belcher/Deathlord against a board of 2 or 3 smaller minions, it gets owl'd, 1 or 2 more minions get played, and the existing ones hit your face... At this point, having a 6/6 or 3/5 or hell, an 8/8 isn't going to help you deal with the board and stabilize.
Most people and seemingly Blizzard want the game to slow down a bit... making silence more expensive makes some stabilizing mechanics more viable, which is part of achieving a slower meta.
Keeping Owls around to keep Tirions in check is pretty important. Please don't change it. It loses a little bit of value with Belcher leaving already. Much better to have a playable Ironbeak Owl than the next version of Kezan sitting in our collections.

I think it's stupid to remove or nerf silence , it's fine as it is right now

Silence is hardly game breaking stuff, no problems with it on my end.
When I looked up "Ninjas" in Thesaurus.com, it said "Ninja's can't be found" Well played Ninjas, well played.

Because he can't possible just play Deathlord and 2x Divine Spirit in a turn? Right...

Silence is fine but owl needs a nerf.
2 mana 2/1 with silence is too good.
3 mana 2/1 with silence might be too harsh
2 mana 1/1 with silence is a good compromise

An easy solution?
Silence a minion for x turns.
(2 (owl),3, 4 ,5... depending of the mana cost)
So silenced minion does't become completely useless, he can awake, and also opponent has to get rid of it when silenced loosing tempo.
