The issue is not about paid cards, it's about experience.
So yes, ladded should be split, but it should be split in the way experienced players can stay out of the way of noobs.
So, maybe the ladder should have different ranks? And as you win, you could gain ranks, whilst if you lose, you would lose ranks? And it would match players up against players of the same rank, or at least a very similar rank to keep queue times manageable?
Maybe Blizzard can alter the starting point of MMR so that new players will not face more experienced players. Say a player has been playing for 3 months, but never touched casual, then decides to start it with a decent deck. He would be at the same starting point as a new player that jumps into casual from the start, right?

I remember when I first started in casual I versed people who had cards like me (basic, few commons maybe some rares even). I don't really see a big problem but I mean if this does occur to the majority of players when starting maybe then blizzard can implement this idea.
As someone who started playing recently and didn't spend RL money on the game I can say that this "card disadvantage" can be really frustrating. Playing with a deck mainly built of soulbound cards, having to face more experienced players with well tuned full budget decks and getting completely obliterated is NOT very encouraging.
Now, I know new players can't expect to win a lot and that you have to endure being crushed from time to time but one-sided matches are not fun at all (specially if you are losing), so if they happen very often it must mean something is wrong.
I think blizzard should adress that issue in order to make the game more enjoyable to beginners.
Maybe divide casual mode somehow (I don't think I've played enough to suggest how it should be divided);
Maybe create a "limited" mode of some sort, perhaps soulbound cards only;
Maybe expanding a little bit more the AI practice/single player modes so new players won't get into online play so "fresh";
Maybe create a "noob mode" where you could only play a hero if your hero level is under 20.
What's the purpose of this? Bad players will still loose to better players with good decks like zoo, the only difference will be they won't even have the excuse of their opponent having legendaries to make them feel better.

I'm so glad there is prejudice against playing hunter/zoo/[insert FotM deck here]. People like that make the life so much easier for those of us who play to win.
I created an account sometime ago on EU and kept playing casual for a while. I've hardly seen any Legendary from my opponents like you guys said, they mostly use basic commons and rares. My opponents were quite bad, making very basic mistakes such as T1 coin Heroic Strike face ,etc. so I assume they really are new players. Haven't try NA yet but I think the MMR is fine as it is.
Maybe they could add a basic decks only room so that new players at least have a place to try to complete quests without getting facerolled by the guys farming gold with decks they cant compete with. Brand new players shouldn't have to spend hours trying to get a couple wins just to complete a quest. In a game they advertise a "free to play" there should be an easier way to get the ball rolling for the newest players. I don't see how anyone with only the basic decks can make any progress the way it is.

You mean guys farming Golden Hero? But that's for ranked. In casual mode 99% gold farmers play rush decks, so Leeroy is the only Legend they will use. The people who use other Legendaries are casual players.
I'm not really talking about just legendary cards. When you are first starting out and don't have a collection, it's hard to compete with everyone who already has most of even just the commons and rares.
I use casual for dailies and use my off-heroes getting to know how far they are from being competetive, making decent but not full-tuned decks with the cards I have. When I get one a winstreak, I pretty fast face only complete decks, otherways not. Works fine like it is IMO.
Maybe make a noobmode for new players or limited collections only, but buying packs must be encouraged as well...
Just play the waiting game - you'd be surprised how many impatient people are out there. Just fought a shaman who was technically rocking my world, so I did full fledged "AFK Plays". He ended up conceding and had he waited it out, he would've won.
I had such a terrible draw that game there was nothing I could do but "wait" it out. Closing in on 2k gold.

Not sure if trolling or not lol.
Lol no not trolling - it's a strat that has worked on few occasions - wait them out. Only a handful of peeps went for it, but 95% of the time they wait it out as well and just line up a massive overkill, thus I usually have my concede ready to click as they begin buffing a minion over 9000.

I'd concede as well. Shit like that is unacceptable.

That is such bad manors. Seriously your intentional aiming at destroying the play fun of another player just for the sake of winning a single match. Instead you could have faced your imminent defeat like a real man and in the same time probably played a second match too. Who knows you might have won that second match and not been that guy we all hate to play against so much.
Hate all you want but I refuse to be on the receiving end of a 4 round beat down. Its a strat - dirty strats are used in all aspects of any form of gaming or sports period. Win is a win - period!

Well you just can't accept the fact that this strat CAN work sometimes. Key word is sometimes...

Yeah sarcasm doesn't work so well on the internets. :)

Casual matchmaking is absolutely awful. Any change is welcome.
