I'm getting really tired of the way that Blizzard has been nerfing cards/decks. They seem to deliberately nerf them in a way that negates refunding dust cost fully by changing an enabling card in the deck that needs nerfing or by creating a completely new card that negates the card that needs nerfing. Many people only craft certain cards knowing that it will get nerfed and they can have a bit of fun with them before that happens. maybe I'm being a pessimist but with the release of WOG, Mysterious Challenger will see little to no play due to Eater of Secrets which reminds me of how they nerfed the Grim Patron/Frothing Berserker by changing the enabling card Warsong Commander.

P.S: Sorry for dabbling in the cancer that is secret paladin I have learnt the error of my ways. After the initial fun it was boring because it plays itself.
I don't mind the nerf, I was expecting it but it's the way they do it that bothers me a little bit. Crafted challenger because I knew it needed a nerf at which point I could dust it for full dust price but that won't happen since they didn't change the actual card itself.

Next time you'll play around Blizzard's nerfing tactics.

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.
Eater of Secrets isn't even good. The only way it would ever be played over Kezan Mystic is if the meta is nothing but secret pala. Which it probably never will be again since they lose Avenge in standard.

Or maybe if Kezan Mystic will stop being available. I wonder wether that will ever happen.
Every mechanic need a counter and since kezan is going out they needed a new, and that put the deck on check if it get more powerfull then already is on the future, and the card dont have a great of a body for 4, its the usual tech card that when u get the value is great but it will sit dead against most classes, and i doubt people would stop playing challenger if is still powerfull on standart just because of one tech card people will never use, that is not a nerf is just a way to put some mechanic on check, is the same that saying that ooze or harrison make weapon based decks impossible to play, rogue dont see that much play is not because of that but because there is no strong deck out there

Oh right, it's a GvG card... FailFish
In any case, Eater of Secrets is worse than Kezan Mystic i m o and will be played even less than kezan has been.
If you think eater of secrets beats secret paladin you never played flare in hunter.
In my opinion there is a huge difference between Flare and Eater of Secrets . Flare costs two mana and you have 4 or 5 mana left to cope with the board. The Eater is 4 mana, but against a secret Paladin you normally get a minion with 6 mana stats (5/7 with 3 secrets). So you actually put something valuable on the board while having 2 or 3 man left for further use. Eater of secrets is much better than flare as a Response to MC.
But nonetheless, I am not convinced that the Eater will see a lot of play since his stats will be bad in most games and his effect useless.
You can play the wild ladder which allows all cards of your collection. Everything stays as it is with the exception that you cannot earn Blizzcon-Points (or however they are called). Rewards will be the same as in Standard.

Patron an Berzerker are only rare cards. Mysterious Challenger is epic, not THAT big a deal, has been on the top of the meta for last two expansions, and will be for the next month.
I think you just might survive to live another day...
I really hope Eater of Secrets sees enough play to stop the constant matches against secret paladin. Getting really tired of playing against that deck.
Yea eater is really only useful against paladins with a lot of secrets... without mad scientist, I don't think it will be as common to see 2+ secrets on the board which is really when he gets the most value (for 4, a 4/5 would be fairly normal so 4/6 with 2 secrets makes it worth 4 mana... 4 mana for 3/5 to take an ice block away for the win? yea worth it then but VERY situational). Again traps are only in 3 characters decks at the moment so not expecting it to be a gamebreaker in every game by any means.

It's not strictly worse, when you consider some decks that were secret heavy were running Kezan themselves just to steal their secrets back, but if they are destroyed it's not possible.

Yeah that is true, I didn't really play a lot of secret paladin but the way in which they have been nerfing cards is setting a precedent that may affect people much more in the future than just epics/rares. Just hoping that it doesn't get to that point.
The problem with Warsong and Mysterious Challenger are to different entirely. Challenger isn't really unfair, it's uncontested d because no other class or card is similar in strength, and that's how they could balance it out. The same thing applied to Boom. These cards are uncontested in their slots, but actually aren't that OP like everyone cries about. Challenger is a cool card that actually created something resembling to a properly designed deck instead of just randomly putting 30 cards into a deck which work a bit together but ultimately you have only one thing you are working to win with. Other decks should like that and Patron was like that but the OTK from hand was ridiculous. The current Patron isn't super great but still a well syngerizing deck (Grom is still and will always be 10 damage from hand, but a single card can be stopped and not 7 charging minion with two of them being 20+ damage).
Challenger itself is great, that it's the only option for a strong deck isn't. So a majority of all players play it, because it is fun to play and win with...
Nerfing cards is a shit method instead of balancing out the game with options, including Eater of Secrets. If the design is so broken that it has to be nerfed, es9pecially when it hinders he creation of new cards (thanks charge), then it's the way to go. Who the hell cares about the dusting refund?
Freeze Mage will always be relevant due to the classic set, so Eater will balance that out for 2 years to come (which will include more cards and secrets and cards that synergize with secrets). Also there's Wild.

Not sure why people are freaking out over Eater of Secrets. Secret Paly was given a death sentence when they announced Standard. Avenge was the true killer.

No it's not strictly worse, it's better in a lot of situations, but overall I'd say it's worse than Kezan.

If you want a game where nothing ever changes and every strategy is always as powerful as it ever was, card games are not for you

Time to face the music and realize that the secrets in secret paladin aren't as good as you think.
