Ranked is no holds barred in terms of being matched with someone. It's all dependent on rank. You should try out some casual games and see if you are enjoying it more because you will be paired against people of the same level(skill wise not character), or very close of play. Also if you don't plan on doing any gimmicky pirate decks I suggest dusting that greenskin for a faceless manipulator.

Gorespine#1591 - Feel free to challenge me with your gimmick!
Most people have earned their cards or bought a 40 pack starter to get their collection going and support the game. Anyone who has bought multiple 40 pack sets is either making money playing hearthstone or bad/lazy - you can earn most of what you need for free. Sure you can't play every legendary you would want to play but you can make decks with the ones you pull and craft the most powerful just like everyone else by saving some dust. 9/10 these people aren't paying to win.
I suspect some of the really powerful and skilled decks are players trying to get 500 wins with a class. If you get matched up with them you're in for a tough match, but you're actually more likely (due to win streaks) to get a free concede if they're trying to drop ranks. At worst you get to see the power of a top tier deck in full glory - something you can aspire to rather than complain about.
What can you do? Firstly you have to build your decks in a way that can handle legends. They're in the game and they have to be beaten. Silence effects are powerful against a lot. There's also Faceless Manipulator to level the playing field, Big Game Hunter to cut them down to size. You probably haven't realized it but you're almost certainly being baited to waste your Hex and Polymorph cards on weaker targets and being left with nothing.
You may be running budget builds, but you're almost certainly running bad cards with immediately available substitutions. Your mana curve probably needs work. You've got to your rank by playing well with what you have but you've got to up your game now, improve your decks, improve the way you play, figure out which cards you need and work toward them. Every time someone wins a game, someone else loses - unless you're better than 50% of the players, getting 50% wins is what you should expect until you earn it.
Anyone who has bought multiple 40 pack sets is either making money playing hearthstone or bad/lazy
That's a bit of a silly over-generalization.
Yes it is. Some are also doing it to support the game. But the average Joe isn't going to spend more than 50 (tops 100 dollars) on a game.
Another point for the OP is it's not the people who have bought all their cards that you should fear, it's those that have earned all of them for free. Who would you rather face off against?!
Translation: "Boo-hoo, i just started playing a game, invested about 10 hours into it and i cannot play in high-end competitive level. UNFAIR, UNFAIR!" Blizzard is, as we all know, a charity organization that does not need any income and only creates games for the world's joy, right?
+1 for Unforgiven_Joker's comment. As he said, a win is something you earn. You need to invest either money or time. You just go on and watch a streamer and believe you can play at that level the very next day, you fail however to recognize that that streamer as well as anyone else playing at their level has invested hundreds if not thousands of hours into this game to get their collection and their 'skill'.
The moral of the story is this: Do not expect everything to be handed out to you, put in some effort and you may get there.
No they dont win games, but they help a freaking lot. If you just put a specific legendary in your deck (Rag/Ysera = your winrate goes +20% min), (Sylvanas/Baron/Cairne +~10-15%)
It's ignorant comments like this that help perpetuate the myth that Legs will win you games.

totally agree. first of all, if you just play a naked rag/ysera out there on turn 8/9 they will die instantly (2 turns max) against any half decent players
There is nothing ignorant about what Pragnienie said. A naked Ragnaros/Ysera will win you the game by itself when youve already forced your opponent to burn removal on Cairne and Sylvanas. Not to mention decks like control warrior with 5 threatening legendaries plus Grommash as the finisher.
I would say the real problem is that theres too much whining by control players about the all the aggro decks, despite how utterly expensive it is to play control. And if someone actually tries to play a piss-poor control deck, they will lose to both the aggro decks in the wild as well as to all the tricked-out control decks.

Sure but a 20% minimum win rate increase from 1 leg? That's a blanket statement that just isn't true.
Ranked play starts to become a joke at r18-16, Although I've only been playing a little over two weeks
did you really expect to climb a ranked ladder without having to overcome obstacles such as card pool, skill, and luck? If you have an issue with the opponents you have to face trying to climb to the higher echelons perhaps you should consider that in your two weeks of gameplay you still lack a bit of base understanding of the games inner workings, the strengths and weaknesses of the meta, and the goods and bads of your own card choices and plays. There is a reason the seasonal card backs are only a rank 20 requirement (up til which it is literally impossible to lose stars).
you shouldn't complain about a system you do not understand. (although i agree there is an inherent flaw but it is not involving card pool, hero levels or deck contents)

the only way you can ever say someone is netdecking... is if you've seen those decks yourself... on the net. which means you had to have been looking...

There is a lot of ignorance in his statements. I currently run 1 legendary, Leeroy. And 75% of the games are over before I even see him. The problem blizzard has created unintentionally is most of the new HS players are from WoW. And in WoW, you get stuff so easily since they want to keep their subs up, they have to make the game more casual. Now these players are trying HS and finding out it's not like WoW, in where you have to put in hundreds if not thousands of game hours getting better and getting cards, where as in WoW you can have 40 hours of game time and be in full SoO gear... That is my opinion, but it does have logic behind it. Now back to Pragnienie's statements. This is what is wrong with HS. He is just misinformed from being frustrated, it happens to the best of us. Legendaries don't win you games. Having them in your deck doesn't make your opponent start at a lower health or anything like that, so they require skill and good plays to be used effectively. Just like ANY card. This game isn't pay to win, far from it. Never seen someone drop 300 bucks and get legend that same day so how is it pay to win? Getting to legend from rank 10 usually takes anywhere from 300-500 wins. How does spending money on the game get you that? And streamers have proven that you can run ALL BASIC cards and get to legend, it requires skill, dedication and tons and TONS of practice. People need to change their mindset in this game. It's not like most. A 55% win ratio is great. That means you will most likely lose every game you win, win streaks being the difference. I used to get so mad at losses but once I got that 55% is great! it totally made my playing experience a million times better. You've played for two weeks and you expect to be legend? You really want to play a game that is that easy to essentially "beat"? I'm not trying to put anyone down here, but come on people.
TL,DR: This Game isnt pay to win. 55% win rate is great. Legendaries make you auto win, I run 1. The game takes skill, dedication, practice and a little help from RNGeezus doesn't help lol. Good luck, but with your mindset, I doubt you last more than another 2 weeks.
You should be proud of yourself actually that after 2 weeks you are around that rank. It always surprises me that a lot of noobs can't even get past rank 20.
And I agree with everyone that the game is about skill, not cards. Give a new player a top tier deck (for example miracle rogue) and he won't know what to do with it, I expect that he will lose at least 8/10 games if not 10/10 against a good player.
what a stupid discussion, legendaries are not the problem, op underpriced crap weenies are the problem of this game. Nothing is laddering anymore due to the stupid amount of all sort of zoo decks... that is the only problem of this game, RNG is a problem to but that is due to 2 ofs in a 30 card game, Blizzard will need to fix soon or this game will die...
Ranked is for the big boys. If you can't handle it go play Casual.
Can't agree with this statement. Really, either in Ranked or Casual, you should find your level (whether through Ranked ranking, or Casual hidden MMR), and get pretty good competition. Regardless of whether you're a "big boy" or not.

Actually the ignorance is on your part. The WOW players coming to Hearthstone arent the f2p crowd playing aggro and slowly grinding for cards. Theyre the control players who spent a lot of money on this game Day 1 they made their accounts. They build an expensive deck and obnoxiously feel entitled to win, just like they are in WOW. Then they go on forums and whine how they lost to f2p players running aggro decks. There is no more skill playing control against aggro decks then there is playing aggro itself. You stop your opponents rush and you win. You dont and you lose. You know the deal from turn 1.
Its not surprising at all to see the whining by players who run handlock, warrior control, ramp druid, etc. all complaining about losing to zoolock, face hunter, shockadin, etc. Thats the petulance you expect from people who think just because they spent money, they deserve to win and f2p players deserve to lose to them. Anything else is unacceptable in their eyes. Hence why they want cards like Divine Favor to be nerfed.
Ive been playing since Beta, done my quests every single day and probably put $80 into boosters and I am missing quite a few legendary still.
Sometimes i bought 7 packs and got 1 legend, sometimes i bought 15 packs and got 0 legends.
I lost an arena with a shaman 0-3 and got a golden leeroy in the free booster.
I lost another arena with a druid 1-3 and got ragnaros.
You just never know. But as long as you keep playing you will get what you want. The dust starts to pile up and if you are decent at arena you can usually make your money back and get a free pack.

It's ranked play. You ranked up to 16-18. They ranked up to 16-18. You thus got matched with each other. I don't know how more fair you want.
