So my brother and I were having an argument, he has a very strong sense of "honor" and "dishonor" and plays a bunch more hearthstone than me. But anyway, the big thing is, I netdeck, and he would never dream of it, he says it's "dishonorable" because you are just playing for somebody else if you use their deck. What do you guys think?
No. Honor is not even a meaningful concept. It's like masculine pride or patriotism. It's just an idea which people use to justify telling others how to live their life.
I haven't really played Hearthstone a lot in several months, but I'm surprised this is still an issue that's brought up haha. Just play the game however you want, and stop caring about what other people do with their decks. If you're having fun deckbuilding, great. If you have more fun netdecking and "mastering" some archetype, that's fine too. People worry too much about things that are out of their control haha.

I think the game is more fun with a well-established meta where you know what to expect, even if what you are expecting is decks like Secret Pally and Aggro Shaman.
What I find horribly un-fun is losing to some random bullshit that isn't good in general, but is good specifically against what I'm playing.

Its fangs are in your flesh before its hiss leaves your ears.
When someone puts their deck online, they want people to play it. If anything, netdecking is honoring the deck. Hearthstone does not reward originality. Original decks aren't good because they are original, they are good because they are good. Netdeck or no, the player still needs an understanding of why each card is in their deck.
Making your own decks is great, it's a big part of Hearthstone, but don't let honor limit you from playing good cards; if Edison hadn't "netdecked" from Tesla, where would we be now?

I have the exact opposite opinion haha. I love that feeling of surprise when someone plays a card I haven't seen in a long time.
HS is a game and, as such, the purpose of playing is to have fun.
It can be fun to build your own deck and win with it, but if you come up with a deck that just doesn't win... the fun factor is gone. If you like to build your deck no matter what, and even at the cost of losing, go with that and have fun.
What i usually do when i approach a new kind of deck is to fix the core cards, maybe starting with a list i found online, and then make the small tweaks myself. If you take a competive deck, the cards that can be changed without massive disfunctions are not that many...
Bro, I just have to know. From what manga/comic is your avatar? :)

It is far more honorable getting legend with your own deck because it is more honest about your deck-building and playing skills. But it is impossible to not "netdeck" since you can't possibly prove to yourself that your ideas are not actually things you already have seen in game and became unconsciously knowing of them.
Example of a dishonorable thing to do: getting high legend with Secret Paladin when you couldn't come even close with any other decks.
Netdecking isn't dishonarable by any means. Some people simply don't feel like putting in the effort of designing something that's already out there. "No need to re-invent the wheel" so to speak. I personally prefer to express my creativity through making my own lists, but sometimes I do netdeck when I feel like going on ladder. Most of the times when I do that though, I tend to add my own twist to them or throw in an unexpected card.
I suspect that the people who complain about netdecking are just hating on people for being "uncreative" and "making the meta stale" when really some people just want to get right into the game.

To me honorable or not isn't my problem with it. If you want to netdeck go nuts. Find the deck with the most upvotes, read that detailed guide and set out on your way. However, I think you should also be honest with yourself and know that if you get to Legendary or where ever that you didn't do so by your own merit but rather through that of someone else. You should get right around the same sense of accomplishment getting to Legendary with a copied deck and guide as you do putting together an IKEA computer desk because in both cases you are just following the provided instructions absent any actual independent thought.
In my opinion, net decking is nothing to be ashamed of. But neither is it really something to be proud of.
My assumption is players will naturally want to try building their own deck for fun, everyone likes building decks.
Now, if a player is too unsuccessful, I can understand that they will look to netdeck so they can get some wins and therefore get more cards.
What I dislike about netdecking is the fact that the decks being netdecked lack a coherent theme (Many Paladin decks running Evil Zombies, Robots, the Doctor, Shredders, Gnome Jugglers, the only thing they have in common is their strength), and instead are just mix/max abominations and a clear example of "Cards win you the game". But of course, decisions inside the match also matter, just not as much as the quality of your cards.
I appreciate players who build their own decks. No reason to bash on players who don't.
I really don't get the general disdain on this forum for netdecking, especially when a crucial part of hearthpwn is to share decks that others have created. That seems back-asswards to me.
I can understand the ire against some of the current meta-defining decks and against "mindless" decks that take little thought to win with (naming no names), but I really don't understand why learning new deck types and styles from other players is perceived as a bad thing or "dishonorable".

T2- Deathwing
T3- GG
Seems Legit
Well it is kind of screwing yourself. You miss out on the whole deckbuilding aspect, which is the most enjoyable aspect of card games.

It's not, but half the fun of the game is in the deckbuilding and testing phase.
As long as you're willing to change up the decklist thru teching for matchups or meta, there's nothing wrong w/ netdecking.

It can be really annoying to go against but it certainly is not "dishonorable" lol.

Yes, it violates the code of honor of hearthstone. You should bow your head in shame if you do it.

Scientists don't start from scratch, why should you? After all, deck building is just experimentation.
You're talking about being honorable in a card game? Really?
