Okay so we all know that once Blizzard updates the client and implements Standard / Wild formats we will be unable to purchase content that has cycled out of Standard which will start with the Curse of Naxxramas Adventure Mode and the Goblins vs. Gnomes expansion booster pack. Anyone who starts playing Hearthstone after the implementation of Standard will NEVER be able to buy this content and will only be able to get those cards through crafting them with arcane dust.
So here's my idea for everyone to get a nice memento from all of the good times of playing with the cards from these aging expansions. Some time between now and the implementation of Standard simply spend 100 gold on a Goblins vs. Gnomes pack and never open it! Since packs you purchase will never be removed from your account it will simply sit there forever as a little token to show that you were there for all of the fun and wacky times of Piloted Shredder, Dr. Boom and the like that people who started playing afterwards will never be able to have. Think of it like a card back you collect at the end of a season, just a little something to let people know you were a part of the fun of Hearthstone.
While I like the idea of a memento I'd prefer that Blizz just gives us a card back for this so we can not waste gold on it. I already have my Heroic Naxx Card Back so a GvG one would be nice too but it probably won't happen.

GvG already has two card backs (goblin and gnome) to show you were there. It has already happened.
We got two cardbacks for GvG a Goblins one and a Gnomes one.
Those aren't for GvG, they're GvG themed. There's a difference. That just shows you played during that Season, however, I did not. There was also a Naxx themed Seasonal card back for one of the Ranked Play Seasons but that just means you hit Rank 20 during that season, not that you actually played Naxx at all. Just saying a new card back for buying a GvG pack before it leaves would be cool.

There's no difference, if you have the GvG themed card backs, it means you were there at some point during GvG.
I mean, yeah why not a card back for the vanilla, pre-formats game, because that's a big, permanent change. But a card back to remind you that you bought some stuff in GvG ? I guess you would like that too for TGT and every other expansion when they're removed from standard ? Come on guys, keep your ego quiet, this is getting a bit ridiculous.
No I'd actually prefer a card back for the concept in bold above rather than a GvG card back.
There actually is a difference though, simply being present for GvG and buying GvG packs are two different things although I don't think anyone didn't buy GvG packs. No need to get angry and start resorting to insults though, if you choose to infer that I have a large ego (which is untrue), that is your problem, not mine.
That's a good idea until I remember I typically open up Hearthstone at 4 in the morning, finish a few Arena runs and smash the space bar in a tired haze.
Dunno if Blizzard doesnt change Interface for like 5 different boosters in the future this might cause some problems in like 3sets or something. No thx
There's no way I wouldn't accidentally open the pack at some future point. Besides, it would annoy me sitting there. I'm happy enough displaying an old card back instead.
Because your idea of sadness seems fine right. Come on, accept my opinion, don't make it personnal, sorry I hurted your ego. I will no change my point of view, I suggest you stop derailing the thread.
This got me thinking. Blizzard intends to "remove" GvG packs from the UI (Since they can't be bought after spring), don't they also plan on removing the option to open it, or are they really going to design pack opening UI to have a huge slide bar? They are already removing it from the shop, I can easily see them removing the ability to open the pack to tidy up space in pack screen.
I'm assuming they are going to issue a gold refund for GvG packs or something.

Yeah, if I spend 100 gold on a pack, I'm opening it.

THIS MAN IS NOT MAD!!!. it's a good Idea, I don't know how many cards I will need to craft , But I will miss those options .
Maybe they will like this signature .. :o
I support Vultrae's idea.
I Would love it if, as a card set cycled out, you got that cards booster graphic as a card back.
I'm not sure on implementation, but it would be pretty cool.

Make the Card: The biggest thread on the site!
My mandibles which are capable of pressing down and tearing, my talons which are known to intercept and hold.

There might be. 5 golden legendaries in that pack.........
Thats quite the idea really I like it :D

Why not go next level and buy 60 packs for 70 real dollars and then never open them? Now that's pointless luxury.

Neat idea but there no way I could stop myself from opening it. I probably wouldn't even last a day.
