why on earth someone would spend money on free to play game,i have collected literally all the cards that i need to play every single deck just by dusting gold cards and cards that are not needed, plus the daily quests, you never spend money on something that is free to play, money should be spent on PS4 games like Dark souls 3,DOOM etc. games that are getting out in the upcoming months AAA games. When i read the comments here and see people have spent over 600 euros on a free to play game...... i have no words,my mind is literally blown,Peace Out.
I humbly request a one time full dust disenchanting option. From now on, it will be clear, that the new expansion will rotate out.
I played MTG for a while . What this spring will happend with HS is exaclty the same whats happenend wit MTG cards when a new Blocks come out in Standard. The old one is out.
What's happenened then with rare cards that fall out from Standard and have no chance to be played in a other format. The value just drop from 20$ or more to 4-5$ or worst. So actually HS copy the systeme from MTG in a lot of ways.
Did you ask Wizard a refound for your Foil cards that you don't can't play anymore in Standard?
Exactly why i did not play the stupid ass standard format in magic. I played legacy and then modern. I made money when I sold my legacy cards and about to sell my modern cards and make money. Blizzard always talked about how they wanted to be so careful with nerfs so as to not mess with peoples collections, and they would give full dust refunds if they did. By throwing players cards into an unbalanced, unsupported, dying format they might as well have nerfed them into garbage. How often you play vintage these days bro? Also you failed to mention that vintage players can sell there cards for alot more than they payed for them when they first started playing. Only fools do not see that the rotating format scheme is how a business keeps milking the cows.
Wrong. The moment i clicked purchase, i exchanged my currency for a commodity that i valued exactly to the amount of currency i payed for it. I was completely OK with exchanging my currency for the commodity, because, to me they were equally valuable.
Now though, Blizzard tells me that the currency i spent, actually bought me much less than i expected them to - and when the amount i spent is quite substantial, that becomes a serious problem to me. I do no longer value the commodity equal to the amount i have spent, because the commodity has changed - I was not informed that it would change, it just did change. In essence, this change has left me feeling scammed. I did not feel scammed before, i spent the currency with eyes open - knowing full well that others dont see the same value in it that i do.
I absolutely agree to this. Nothing like this was mentioned before, now we know about it and can evaluate future purchases better. Until now I trusted Blizzard to be a fine company. Yes, they are a company, but I almost blindly bought any game the ymade (even multiple times) to support the company and the quality of the games. Blizzard in my book stands for a company that tunes a game until it is good. Take D3 for example. While the base game wasn't bad, it is way better now even now that free patches are released to the seasons. Their behaviour now lets me doubt all my future purchases.
Also, yes they do have my money, but aren't they interested in my future purchases as well? After all I pay for the game. I pay for it to support it. Customer types like me fund the game for the f2p players. Which is totally fine by me, but they shouldn't harm us. The lengthiness of the thread shows, that players like me care.
Again, I want to stress. I do welcome the new cycling. Cycling is good for a fresh and healthy meta. As said otherwise changing the cards would have been one way. They chose different. So its also not obvious that this would have happened.
I will edit the initial post later on to collect some great arguments and feedback. Keep up the work. If you have twitter. Why don't you comment with #goldennaxx to show blizzard we do not agree with their decision.

I humbly request a one time full dust disenchanting option. From now on, it will be clear, that the new expansion will rotate out. Otherwise I'm not sure if I can trust them any more, which will result in playing hearthstone full free. I know this probably still will be in their interest, but I hope it is not and they will show they community, that they will give in on this request. Many other players will feel the same.
So what would happen to the people that disenchanted cards a week ago? Completely screwed?
It's not really possible for Blizzard to make it "fair" when the whole game system is changing. Someone will always end up with the short end of the stick.

When I bought cards they had a premise that when cards are changed full dust refund is given. That's what I expect.
If someone disenchanted a week ago, yes they didnt do it when the card was changed. Just as if I disenchant today.
Blizard deceived us. Thus the disapointment
When cards are changed. The cards are not being changed.
Who's forcing you to play standard? Those cards are all legal in Wild.
Did you read even a single post in this thread? I doubt it.

Two whole expansion's worth of cards now have a tiny little label "Cannot be played on normal mode".
That's a big as fuck change if you ask me. Not even a nerf, it's outright unplayable.

Honestly, I don't see the point in not allowing you to dust cards as requested. I would even be okay with restricting it to players who spent money. But come on, why not?

Your cards arent going away, they'll be available in wild format.
For the game to remain healthy there was no other way to go about things, and people like you should accept this fact.
What you (and everyone) should be asking/pushing is for Blizzard to make wild format the best it can be.
I really dont care so much for people who cry for "investing" (lol) money in the game as much as for a new player who might be playing for a few months and soon see his first legendary not be playable in standard. The supreme majority of the people who invested money can easily have the cards to make good decks for Standard the exact momment when the format is released. For this reason maybe blizzard should give everyone free ~2k dust, just this one time.

Except they're still playable in another mode.
A mode that we dont want to play , a mode that is irrelevant. The mode we play today is standard
A mode that YOU don't want to play. I know hundreds of people personally that will be playing Wild.
It's not that difficult to follow me, there's no other viable way to keep the game fresh.
Just look at how in the past year people were mostly just looking at the existing archetypes and adding a couple of cards in them here and there. It would (and is) getting progressively boring, and the only other way to get rid of old cards and decks would excessive be powercreep.
If you've got another suggestion, and an example of another ccg that has done something else successfully, i'm all ears.
Logic is nowhere to be found in your answers Human_Guy, buffing and nerfing cards would still result in seeing the same cards with roughly the same effects. The main point of formats is to keep the game fresh not balanced.

Since all the people are constantly repeating the mantra of "there was no other way", "MTG does it so it must be gods will" and other bullshit over and over again without actually using their brain I am going to make a list now that I can copy paste all over, to save time:
This game is not MTG. Mtg does Standard mode, since it is a PHYSICAL CARDGAME. There you cant buff/nerf cards easily. So it makes sense to do this in MTG but not HS that is DIGITAL ONLY!
Instead of Standard mode we could have monthly buffs and nerfs. Since this is a DIGITAL card game, blizzard could have solved a lot of MTGs problems by simply BUFFING and NERFING cards. But instead they went the "basically ban" route from the beginning (I mean Warsong Commander might as well say: can not be played now) So we don't even know how this game might look like if there was someone in charge that can do slight stat adjustment on a regular basis.
ALL HS expansions so far are intertwined and cant be simply ripped out without leaving an unplayable mess. All I need to say is Gorillabot A-3. There is no point in getting rid of 2 expansions when EVERY SINGLE expansion has been made to synergize with the previous and next ones. Expansions would have needed to be made in a way so that they are enclosed in themselves so they don't invalidate the next expansion if they leave rotation.
There are plenty of ways Standard could have been implemented differently. They could only ban certain cards and not entire sets. Or ban sets but convert key cards that are important to basic set. Or they could throw all now important cards into a new "basic" set which then would be the set that stays for ever.
Wild mode will not be balanced, watched or played. It is basically a bigger brawl mode. Right after release people will still play wildmode but after a few expansions there will be more and more people that dont have ALL the cards, so wild will become a no go area. Just like Deck construction brawls are unplayable now for new players if they require some really aweful niche card that no one ever uses.
Standard will also be the only mode that is allowed for tournaments, gives points or is displayed to your friends etc. So much for "we care for both modes". No, Wild is clearly second typ citizen and will be treated as such.
If a new player wants to play Naxxramas encounters he can no longer buy them... and subsequently there is no guarantee that blizzard will allow players that already own Naxx to play them for ever or if shut it down to save server capacity.
People may refer to a "rotation" but infact your cards are GONE. Maybe in the future you will get a 3/3 mech that restores 8 to your hero again... doesn't mean that you can use healbot though. You will have to buy a SECOND healbot and play with that one instead. But in wild you now an have an ultra heal deck with 4 healbots. But I guess that is not a "1-2 turn kill combo" so blizzard doesn't give a shit about balancing something like that.
Balancing as a whole will probably cease to exist (even more than currently). Why would Blizzard bother to nerf cards now? Not only in wild but in standard? They just need to WAIT a year and they are gone anyway. That is about the time frame Blizzard takes to nerf stuff anyway, if ever. So did you enjoy waiting 8 months for Undertaker nerf? Have fun with stuff like that x10.
Arena is going to stay unbalanced as ever. They cant even be arsed to balance wild. So why would they ever bother with card rarities or class balance in this mode? Just Paladin and mage forever. Not to mention that broken combos that can occure in wild might even be worse in Arena (Murloc Knight and Kvaldir Raider are cards that on their own win games in arena for example).
Finally If you want to compare this game so badly with other games, then how about League of Legends instead? Both are F2p,in both you collect something (champions/cards), both are probably biggest of their genre and mostly they are both DIGITAL. So what would be if LoL were to ban all older champions form ranked solo Q? You cant play with all your champions you bought skins (golden cards) for competitively any more. But I guess you can play twisted treeline if you are a masochist. But even then you cant really play for long, since the new champions from the new set are not balanced to be beaten with your old ones, so you can't really play there either. Suddenly Standard does sound kinda like a scam doesn't it? Unlike HS, LoL does balance and update older champions, game mechanics, runes, talents, basically EVERYTHING in the game. Don't you think that blizzard could do some buffs end nerfs instead of just banning everything.
So if people please could give some actual good arguments for standards as opposed to copy pasting the same "but but MAGIC does it" over and over again, that would be nice.
1. Yes, that fact is a fact.
2. There's simply no way to keep balancing cards while printing more and more. After 2 more years, you'll be balancing 9 expansions worth of cards EVERY month. That's beyond unreasonable. And once the cardpool hits a certain point, design space just stalls, there aren't any cards you could print that isn't a repeat of an existing point.
3. Naxx = Deathrattles. GvG = Mechs. BRM = Dragons. TGT = Inspire Joust. LoE = Discover. None of them are "heavily" intertwined, there's only the single specific examples of "oh, Gorrilabot is now Garbagebot A-3"
4. Sure...? Things could be arbitrarily different for the sake of being arbitrary, I guess. That doesn't mean much.
5. Why does everyone say that? If you really believe that Wild mode can't be balanced, then that's admitting the current game can't be balanced if every card is allowed.
6. Exactly nobody making this complaint is going to be competing in the tournament level. And the Rank tag is the most trivial thing imaginable, yes it sucks you get a Rank 20 Image instead of your actual Rank 19. Whoop dee doo.
7. The first one is true, it sucks that I won't be able to do the Naxx adventure on EU server. The second one is the stupidest assumption ever.
8. That's the definition of cards rotating out.
9. Non-issue, if balancing is already so sparse, "less" balancing isn't any different than what we have now.
10. That's not becuase of Standard existing.
11. What? That's a completely different genre. Why don't we compare Hearthstone to Candy Crush then? That'd be just as relevant.
I humbly request a one time full dust disenchanting option. From now on, it will be clear, that the new expansion will rotate out. The cards aren't being changed.
A closer comparison would be to how players with full golden patron decks got screwed with 0 refund when warsong commander was nerfed. Zero refund was given because their cards themselves were not changed even though a core mechanic that directly impacted their deck was changed.
If Blizz was to give refunds, there is no reason Blizz should give you a full refund but not players that disenchanted their cards last week a full refund. Blizz probably can't even track who disenchanted cards last week.
