I read the new announcement made by Blizzard about the rotation today. While I totally can understand it (beeing a tcg veteran for over 20 years) I find it very hard that we are not allowed to disenchant our cards to full value. I do have golden Sludge Belchers, Kel, Webspinner, Mad Scientist, Loatheb, Duplicate, Voidcaller, Deathbite and probably more I can't remember.
This whole standard format was unannounced before. Usually, Blizzard allows a "full refund" on the dust invested when something changes. I basicly spend hundreds of Euros to get these cards golden. Yes, it was my decision, but it was made by the assumption (which was provided by blizzard) that I can play these cards in the decks I want. So I basicly bought booster packs to have enough dust for these cards to make em shiny. A mistake I will not make any more.
Adding a rotation will be very healthy for the game, but it will also result in the players moving forward to the standard format. New players don't need to worry about the old cards, meta will be fresh and more and more players will shift away from thge old sets. Especially as they can disenchant them for the new cards they need.
I humbly request a one time full dust disenchanting option. From now on, it will be clear, that the new expansion will rotate out. Otherwise I'm not sure if I can trust them any more, which will result in playing hearthstone full free. I know this probably still will be in their interest, but I hope it is not and they will show they community, that they will give in on this request. Many other players will feel the same.
Sincerely Maik
You can play Wild mode and keep all your gold cards.
To make this clear for everyone: "Wild" will become the new casual mode and will evolve to full-retard-trololol-mode over time:
- Let's be honest: A lot of ppl play HS also for Epeen (me included). If standard is being propagated in official tournament and your profile shows only your standard rank, it is THE (ONLY) way to play the game.
- Cards are going to be developed, balanced and revisioned with STANDARD mode in mind. They might (and at a certain point in time: WILL) be completely broken, if used with cards from older/banned expansions. While Wild might be also fun right after standard format starts, it will become utter BS after 2 additional expansions, in which no designer kept cards like Boom and Shredder in mind anymore.
So instead of treating HS as the digital game it is and keep it fresh with constant balance patches and revisions, they decided to go for full cash grab and going to treat it like a PHYSICAL CARD GAME, which it is OBVIOUSLY NOT. When we asked in the past for constant balance patches, they said: "NOOO! We can't do that! Players would be very sad, if their beloved cards in which they invested so much time and money, became worse!" And now THEY REMOVE THEM FROM THE FREAKIN GAME. And yeah, for me and a lot of other players, those cards will cease to exist. I haven't played a single match in casual mode for more than a year. So I will not play "Wild" in the future, esp. because it will be broken as sh1t.
This is even more infuriating, if you keep in mind that they released only 2 Adventures and 2 Expansions and already remove HALF of their additional content from the game,...
And guess what they will do? They'll sell us new Antique Healbots, new Sludge Belchers and at a certain point a new Dr. Boom. Esp. cards like Healbot are irreplaceable and HAVE to exist. So they'll just rerelease 'em with a new picture and a new name. And you have to buy new packs and more packs and more packs,...
Oh boy,...
Pretty much this.
I'm fine with the mode change; I'm even okay w.o a full refund on my goldens, of which I have a shitton, but if they start re-releasing cards in a new set w/ identical text (or just slightly different so as to make us buy them again), I am done.

i mean honestly whose fault is it that you decided to spend 600 euros on a game that you get no monetary value from? Also you DONT EVEN OWN the cards on your account. They are owned by Blizzard. If they give full refunds they will lose money. Blizzard <3s money.
i really dont see why anybody would spend so much on a f2p game where you cant sell your cards. I honestly dont think blizzard owes anybody anything, maybe you will learn from this.

Apologist. Ever bought music online on iTunes? Imagine if tomorrow they say your collection can no longer be played on any device except your local computer. No more streaming, cloud, etc... Just sitting in front of your computer and that's it. Let's see how you react then.
"Gee, I never should've bought music files... They're nothing more than 0s and 1s really! Silly me, I should've known better!!!" Yeah, no.
It depends. The experience is completely different from before. The experience and balancing in Wild mode WILL change over time, probably by decreasing. In this analogy, it's hard to translate, but my enjoyment of listening to the song would decrease, hence the idea of only being able to listen to it by sitting in front of a desktop instead of, say, jogging or any other enjoyable activity.
I really didn't get how people can be that dumb to say 'you can play wild with your shiny cards, it's the same as now' when it is obvious that wild won't be taken into account when it comes to balancing which is a big difference to now.
But then I realized there are people thinking Trump should become president and it suddenly made sense.

Tide: There are two things which are infinite...
It's not like there have been a ton of balance changes anyway, you act like they drop weekly balance patches. If anything they can afford to be a bit more heavy handed with Wild since it isn't their main focus for tournaments and what not.
I have 7k MTG cards from 3rd edition on up sitting behind in boxes as I type, you don't see me writing hate letters to WotC because I can't play with them any more. You know why? Because I can still play with them, I just don't.
Any preconceived notions people have about wasting their money or not being able to use their cards, is in their heads.

At least you can sell those MTG cards for money! Some even increase in value with time.

It's not about balance patches, it's about taking wild mode into account when releasing new cards.
What comes now is just a possible example and of course I can't be sure that this one will happen.
Darkbomb cycles out, so sooner or later WL will get another cheap removal. -->Malylock gets op in wild
There are more examples, but I guess the point is clear.
Now what I think would be fair is a one time full dust disenchant option because you can't use the cards in a mode which will stay balanced anymore. Only one time because from now on we know that cards week cycle out.
I have not even crafted a single golden naxx card, I just think it would be fair fit for those who have.

What this guy said. ^ And just curious how often do you play vintage with your 7k mtg collection?
Another way to look at it, is since wild cheapens our golden collection, maybe golden cards should be cheaper in the first place. What the f is the point of collecting golden cards anymore ? It costs a bloody fortune, and it does not last more than a year, in the case of adventures. My prediction is, golden cards is going to become a lot more rare to see. And to me, that is sad. I enjoy the animated cards, and i like playing with them. I do not enjoy paying enough to support a small country to get them, and then having them only "last" a year.
For once, i think Blizzard SHOULD ABSOLUTELY take the road that doesnt generate the most cash to set things right by
a) Letting us disenchant ALL our golden cards for full dust value. b) Letting us re-craft those goldens, for a significantly lower dust cost c) Gain a lot of good will and retain customers who now percieve them less as a money grabbing scam.
People who has spent a shit ton of cash on this game, would then have a lot of excessive dust and could maintain a full golden collection for a few years or simply craft full expansions without spending a dime. But you know what, we payed for that dust.

What was the point of collecting golden cards in the first place?
They don;t give a competitive advantage, you can't sell them, you can't trade them. They're there purely for 'shiney e-peen'.
The fault was yours for assigning 'value' to something which never had value in the first place outside your own head. The fact that some people saw it as a 'investment' is frankly deluded.
You spend money on your e-peen, and on a cosmetic, nothing more, nothing less, and it was money which was spend, not invested, not something which give you a return. Thats it.
I have spent/spend money on Hearthstone, becuase i have fun doing it, but I never nver for a second thing it's something which I'll get back, or anything other than fun.

Instead of saying "I dont see a point in collecting golden cards" which is obvious by your post, why not accept that others DO see a point in collecting golden cards, and that THEIR experience has been cheapened ? Just because YOU dont have a problem with devaluing a golden collection, does not mean other peoples point of view must be exactly the same as yours.
And, i'll dare to say, your point of view is less important than that of those who have invested huge money into the game. You dont stand to lose anything either way. I, and many with me, do.

Wrong. The moment i clicked purchase, i exchanged my currency for a commodity that i valued exactly to the amount of currency i payed for it. I was completely OK with exchanging my currency for the commodity, because, to me they were equally valuable.
Now though, Blizzard tells me that the currency i spent, actually bought me much less than i expected them to - and when the amount i spent is quite substantial, that becomes a serious problem to me. I do no longer value the commodity equal to the amount i have spent, because the commodity has changed - I was not informed that it would change, it just did change. In essence, this change has left me feeling scammed. I did not feel scammed before, i spent the currency with eyes open - knowing full well that others dont see the same value in it that i do.

I like shineys as much as the next guy, When i bought 40 classic parks, and got a golden Ysara, I dumped my normal one, although the logical option would have been DEing the golden one for another legendary.
But golden cards, and spending money on them is utter vainity. There's nothing wrong with that, but don't expect that it makes them or you anything special. You spent your money on nothing of value, I've done that plenty of times, but don't expect a return on it.
I humbly request a one time full dust disenchanting option. From now on, it will be clear, that the new expansion will rotate out.
I played MTG for a while . What this spring will happend with HS is exaclty the same whats happenend wit MTG cards when a new Blocks come out in Standard. The old one is out.
What's happenened then with rare cards that fall out from Standard and have no chance to be played in a other format. The value just drop from 20$ or more to 4-5$ or worst. So actually HS copy the systeme from MTG in a lot of ways.
Did you ask Wizard a refound for your Foil cards that you don't can't play anymore in Standard?
