I play this game competitively and realistically, myself and every other competitive player are NOT going to be playing Wild mode. I think it's fucked up that I just spent over 3000 dust on a card that as of, I don't know, 3 hours ago that I can longer fucking use in the "new format".
Anyone think players that recently crafted any cards from GVG or recently purchased Naxxramas should receive some form of reimbursement since they're literally phasing out half of the current expansions in the game?
Not really. I crafted Dr. Boom yesterday. I really couldn't care less that I won't be able to use it in Standard in March, or April, or whenever "Spring 2016" is.
Wild is the same game as Standard, the cards are still the same cards.

But you just wasted 1600 dust that could have been put towards the new set's best legendary.

So? I managed to play this game for 18 months without Dr. Boom, I can handle 18 months without the new best Legendary.
Seems fair, but then the crafting of a goldlegendary seems to be not at all about competition and instead about some combination of collecting/completionism/vanity.

I crafted Dr. Boom golden because he is used in just about every competitive deck. I also put faith in that if Dr. Boom was ever going to be nerfed, I'd get my dust back. But with this change, players don't get reimbursed for removing cards from the game.
To cry about an extra 1600 dust or save the future of this game is a little petty. Without formats this game would not survive with out power creep. Every expansion they would fight cards like Haunted Creepy, Piloted Shredder, Loatheb, Dr. Boom, and Mysterious Challenger. Card games that don't do formats die. The only card game to survive the test of time has been MTG and they do formats. This is a big change, but in the long run it is a change that needed to happen very soon.
P.S. your golden Dr. Boom will still be playable in the Wild format, also think about the people will full golden collections, that soon will be pointless unless they play wild. Games change over time, accept that and move on, soon my Golden Emperor will have the same treatment, my golden Naxx cards are gone, my golden GvG cards are gone. I think you'll survive this little hit.

Other words....Blizzard will just re-release the same cards, but with new names and paint job?
People, why be so rude? It's completely understandable to be frustrated when you lose something you've spent alot of time (or money) acquiring. I say lost because with the competitive scene being exclusive to Standard, that format that will probably be the most popular from now on, especially within the competitive playerbase.
Essentially, if you are a competitive player, standard will be what you play. Since boom can no longer be played in standard, he becomes rather meaningless to a competitive player. Anyone who crafted anything from GVG/golden naxx has all the right to feel frustrated.

Theyre not being taken away. Golden cards are crafted purely for vanity. You cant cry when your vanity toy is not longer cool. Times change. If you spend all your money on one flashy trendy toy then you're a retard.
Yes, it's being taken away from the format that may matter to him. The competitive format. If he plans to play the format that's competitive, then he will have no use for the gvg-golden that he crafted. Yes, playing flashy cards may not matter to you, but it may matter to him. Doesn't make him a retard.
HA HA. You gold crafting tryhards just got screwed and I couldnt be happier. Mommy mommy they are taking my wittle gold deck how will i impress all the internet kids. mommy its not fair i want my goldie toys.
You're happy because of someone else's misfortune? Sounds like someone's a bit of a douchebag to me...

Both formats are competitive. Yes, players who don't want to play Wild because they want to stay competitive, are retards, with huge ego issues.
Define competitive. When I say competitive I mean what has the potential to award world championship points. That includes sanctioned tournaments and what will soon be the Standard Format. Sure, not alot of players are going to get enough, if any points. For some players though, the prospect of getting into the ''pro'' scene may bring excitement and act as a motivational force. No, it doesn't have to make them retards or egomaniacs..

So, Dr. Boom finally got nerfed, in a Blizzard way :D

"Golden cards are crafted purely for vanity." <------ sooooo true
Just fuck off, man... you enjoy vanity, I enjoy divine (Blizzard) justice
