warsong commander and starving buzzard will be there FOREVER.
They can easily return warsong back as it was, as 2 very needed cards for the patron deck will be gone
Not this year tho.. Next years first expansion will throw away patron and emperor. Plus Wild would be broken and one of the reasons they nerfed it was future design space.

It will be much harder for warrior to spam the board without deathbite and unstable ghoul deathrattles even this year. Also, I read some comments on the news and some people had the idea, that Blizz won't be concerned if new added cards will make broken combinations with expired cards. Hope that won't happen, but, maybe, it will, as Wild mode wouldn't be called Wild if it really wouldn't be.. em.. wild.
To people who are crying about some of the most beloved control-oriented cards going away: They are also removing quite a many cancer-educing aggro cards from standard format.
Standard seems like it will be very boring, there really isn't enough cards in HS yet for this. I mean, the card total of HS is like half MTG standard.
It seems mostly like an excuse not to balance content or design it properly, tbh. Which will of course also lead to wild mode being useless.

The difference is that MTG standard contains 90% filler while only about 60% of Hearthstone cards are filler. The cardpool up until TgT was almost the exact same size as standard will be anyway and that meta was fine (outside of patron warrior).

Actually the pool will be similar in size to after TgT at the start of a year and even larger than now at the end of it (expecting 3 releases in a year).
When the new expansion comes out we'll have 2 expansions (TgT and new) and 2 adventures (BRM and LOE).
Furthermore since TgT hit a low in the number of playble cards the pool will probably feel more diverse than pre-LOE. We should get two more releases during 2016 if Blizzards keeps the same pace which would mean that by the end of 2016 we should have a larger pool of cards in standard than the one we have now!
People seriously need to chill about the pool size.

Although they haven't mentioned it, I'm really hoping they do "reprints" - where they include some cards from GVG/Naxx in with packs from the new set - and allow players who already have those cards to use them in Standard. So instead of the next expansion having ~120 cards - it has ~160 cards, with 120 being new and 40 being some GVG/Naxx cards, keeping them in circulation. This would help keep the card pool saturated while not adding any extra development time.
Obviously I don't think Dr. Boom or Piloted Shredder should ever get back into Standard circulation, but tech cards like Antique Healbot and Kezan Mystic are not OP cards but fill roles that will leave a hole if they're just outright removed from the new dominant play mode. Of course the other option would be to give them the Ice Rager/Evil Heckler treatment - and essentially just make a slightly modified version of the same card again. If the new expansion has a similar number of cards to GVG/TGT - it'd really suck for any of those cards to be retreads when we're about to lose so much of our existing cardpool.
We realy need some cards to stick around like belcher, chow, healbot, loathep those cards fill roles and would just stupid to have them releasing reprints with slightly changes over and over just to get more money.

No we don't. The reason you think we do is because you imagine how it was before they were there.
They were answer to the meta back day.
The meta will change drastically. We know nothing about what is needed.
Really not sure how I feel about these changes. On the one hand I am glad to see some of these op cards, like dr. 7 "gone" but on the other I will miss some of them. I really hope the do a good job rebalancing the classic cards.
Also I really fear that the wild format will go extinct over time. Blizzard will most likely only focus on keeping the standard format somewhat balanced. With new cards coming out sooner or later there will be some OP-uber-deck that will just ruin the fun for everyone, kind of like secret-pali only worse. Either that or new people to HS will never be able optain all the old cards, hence only play standard and with old people quiting/leaving the game it might go extinct that way ... of course this is somewhat longterm and speculative ... but who knows.

I'm sorry to be self-repeater, but this is part of the problem, not a solution. I mentioned this in previous post, but since you are thinking in those terms (and that is a positive thing, despite it looking like I'm bashing on the principle of the post), I will say it again with adjustment:
It's already apparent to us players, that many of the established mechanics, answers, tools are removed by Blizzard. So the natural need for those will be there. It won't matter, whether it is just playerbase wanting such tools because they already know it is doable, or just Blizzard agreeing on some of them to be essential to the balanced meta. Reprints basically are saying (in my opinion):
"Yes, it is stupid to remove everything, because some things are essential, and also a process of long build-up to make classes, deck types and playstyles diverse, appealing to many different kinds of players, and balanced. So we basically took the stupid way out, not balancing our ONLINE game, which unlike the often compared MtG can be balanced for everyone at the same time with a release of a patch ( = technically simple).
For Standard, you will be strongly incentivised to buy new releases quickly, won't have time to f2p collecting / farming them, and that includes cashing $$ for the reprints, instead of balancing the wrong cards of old releases. If the Wild becomes inevitably a joke mode (similar to Brawl in sense, you can't really expect any balance, and therefore versatility), if it becomes zombie (because it will become hugely expensive for new players, or those who haven't completed collection of old releases, aka f2p), we don't really care, you're on your own.
With all the love (just kidding), your Blizzard".
There goes my "hope" for reprints, and what this move means in broader way.
There is also a different argument, which I fully understand - in order for newer cards to make it into meta, it will have to be power creep.
Well, if you don't expect to do any thinking, it would have to be. But there could be so many other ways to limit competitive deckbuilding, than taking the stupid easy way out and do what everyone did in the past (formats). Except, they actually had to do it for games which were physical, unlike HS.
God forbid we think of something new for Hearthstone, it's not like Blizzard had a reputation for being the best in business, having the most popular card game, appealing to masses also because the casuals were at the heart of our design philosophy, it's not like we owe anyone for any reason (like expectations, reputation, our self-drive for being better then anyone before) anything, so just take it as we tell you, and prepare to buy as we release, no matter if you're f2p, new player or already paid for originals in the past (which we just reprinted).
If I don't manage to get Kel'Thuzad by the time this roles out imma get rekt on Wild mode T_T
RIP me
Why? O.o Also, if you've played any of Nax then you don't need to finish it before formats.
Someone made a cost comparison on the battle.net page saying that if you get around 93 dust per pack, you would need about 40 packs to craft the higher end cards of Naxx. The total cost for only some of the cards would be around 4000 gold in total (Assuming you get e target amount of dust). The entire adventure costs 3500 gold (and thats with all the cards), so by unlocking each wing and getting Kelthuzad, i'll be able to not only have all the staple cards for Naxx, but also be able to get a better grip on Wild mode sooner than saving dust.
That and the fact that we won't get any interactions with Bosses like we did with Kelthuzad T_T, his emotes were the best.
In all honesty, my opinion won't matter much, because this change really only affects those of us who are in too deep to not already be collecting Naxx and GvG cards, and don't have a collection large enough to have already completed the Naxx set. This giant change is really for those who are on the extreme sides of the spectrum, from newbies to vets
This is some next level bullshit. Now they won't even have to *think* new cards, just release Sludge Belcher2, Sludge Belcher3, Antique Healbot3, Deathlord4 every subsequent year. For f2p (and good luck getting everything within the year) or straight out of your wallet!

No, as long as you have at least 1 wing before the format change, you'll be able to unlock the rest of the wings of Naxx and play through them as usual.

I disagree. There are some really good cards in basic and classic, it just requires the player to use their brains a lot more and not rely on broken cards (Boom, Shredder, etc). I don't understand yet if it will be exclusively Basic and Classic and not allow paid content to sneak in standard. If it does, then there is no point in the format.
The real solution would be to have it similar to MtG and have Standard, Modern, and Banned Cards for certain formats/tournaments. If Blizz really wants full participation then tournaments will have both formats and not just one.
my 2 pennies.

I guess there will be Annoy-o-Tron2 and Madder Scientist in the new card set! Ready to buy!
