Just hit rank 5 playing Control Hunter never been this high up the ladder before especially with this deck :) a new personal best really hope I can push to legend.
Dudes, what are you doing? why are you doing some sort of "intervention" - you know that the guy is talking nonsense and he knows it himself ... if three people do it, all he will say is that you "went lucky". His whole "theory" can already be dispatched easily by the overall structure of ladder. Winstreaks alone make you get out of the "black hole" easily, even at 50%. There is just one explanation, he knows it, you know it, so why bother: he just sucks at the game and he should focus on getting better instead of posting over and over again here, nuff said!
More elitist drivel from one of the biggest elitists on here. Hey man, when can I see you play in the hilarious tournaments on twitch?. You'd qualify instantly right, I mean, you're awesome eh?... no.. you're an absolute bozo who derives value in his life from taunting his supposed "ability" in an game of extreme chance to people who have no idea who he is and whether it's legit... bravo.... absolute idiot
Why do you have to do this? this is and was one of the very few places on this site where you just could be competitive without having to listen to claims like yours: "all luck, all rng" and whatnot ... Listen, once more, there is such an incredible amount of hard evidence out there that this game has its luck components but that on the long run various skills (playing, deck decision, playing good over a long period of time,...) do matter on ladder. And this thread above all others should not be the one where you have to "prove" this fact to people like you! If you don't like it, please, keep it in the other numerous threads where people are nothing but complaining!
And now to my elitism, no, contrary to you I am actually able to grasp that there is something more than luck involved in this game and my limits: Sure, I am probably strong enough to luckily win a best of 3 in a tournament against some of the pro players. But there is a reason why they are invited or qualified for those tourneys and I am not: It is the ability to consistently perform at a high level in this game. I am well aware that between the average legend durdler like me and the top ranks of ladder there is a sizable difference... as well as there is probably a sizable difference between my playlevel and yours, if you really can not get out of rank 15... if you call this elitism, ok, but then I am proud to be "elitist" (elitist pretty much equals the ability to grasp simple evidence in your definition and the absence of elitism would be, sorry, pretty much plain stupidity)
So, to sum it up: If you really want to discuss on a serious level here, accept the basic outlines of this game, if you renounce them, be my guest, but don not expect to be taken seriously. Because after all you are just argumenting against basic maths and statistics in a system that is based on (hint, I already stated it) basic maths ...
what is the best tdeck to rank up with this season?
I wrote this at the end of last month and it concerned my legend climb from ranks 3- legend. As the meta didn't change, at least according to my experience on EU (sitting at rank 6 right now and did it pretty quickly with Midrange Druid) it might still be helpful. At least there is nothing to add from my side, except a little disclaimer, my list is not exhaustive: I do think that Zoo might also be good right now, as well as Control priest and tempo mage (I never play the later two, though):
"Did it the other day (not for the first time, so no congratulations necessary ;) )... I wanted to share experiences though: EU ladder is relatively Secret Paladin centric in the high ranks but it is not dominant enough that an extreme counterpick seems a good idea to me. I did ranks 5-Legend with a fairly wide aray of decks - Patron Warrior (most played), Renolock, Secret Paladin and Midrange druid (the final push from 2 and 4 Stars to Legend)... Since I am Legend I am practising my freeze mage skills which results in some horrible missplays but also ( more and more) in Secret Paladin bullying (which is funny as a lot of them rage BM and I looove salty tears ;) )
Now to my detailed experiences:
Patron can be insane in this meta if you see a lot of Paladins (always the case) and a lot of druids (sometimes the case) but has its really horrendous matchups (basically anything that can clear a board of patrons - Renolock, Control Priest, Control Warrior) and thes matchups can suddenly become too frequent, rendering the deck unplayable...
Renolock: Is decent across the field but just not exceptional enough, especially the druid matchup hurt me too much and secret Paladin also is far from clearly favoured (rather 55-45 for you)
Secret Paladin: Contrary to popular advice I am usually against the idea of playing the "best deck", if the best deck acutally has strong counters. Unlike the old Patron Warrior, Secret Paladin can easily be countered and those counters are not that uncommon currently on the ladder. Additionally, I really loathe the mirror match that usually comes down to a coin flip of who plays MC first (hint, If possible, keep the coin on the draw to ramp into MC on turn 5...) Consequently I played secret paladin a bit and I even had a positive winrate between ranks 3 and 2 but I felt that I was really, really lucky (I won all the mirrors) and the counters grew more and more at rank 2 and 1.
Combo Druid: As usual, and this was the case from rank 2 to legend, Combo Druid is my go-to deck when I am not really sure what the meta looks like ... The deck has very few exceptional matchups but some good ones against common decks (renolock and freeze mage notably). However, more importantly is another fact: If piloted correctly, Midrange Druid has not a single "unwinnable" matchup. Even the bad matchups like Tempomage or Aggro Shamen are not worse than 40 % in my book. The secret paladin matchup is not favorable but better than many people give it credit for. I play a list with 2 living roots and 1 darnassus aspirant, with this configuration you are close to 50% ...
Freeze Mage: I only played it from Legend, because I suck at it... even i manage to win most of my secret paladin matchups with it though... Altogether I am not sure if this is enough rigth now. Secret Paladin is the most common matchup, sure, but there is ample of druids in high ranks (a bad matchup) and a lot of warriors (a horrible matchup, against Patron 30% at best, against Control around 15%...). In the end I only played freeze to practice it and to beat up a bit on secret paladins - yes, I am a horrible person ...
To sum it up: My advices would be either patron warrior (as long as druids and paladins are very common) or Midrange Druid in the case of a more unstable meta (which was my experience on ranks 2-1). Secret Paladin is ok as well of course, simply because of its raw power as is Renolock, a goodish deck across the field. Freeze Mage needs a really good pilot right now as winning the paladin, hunter and zoo matchups alone wont do the trick. You need at least some wins against druid as well and even then I am pretty sure that it is not the best pick right now.
what is the best tdeck to rank up with this season?
Control Priest is doing really well for me. A lot of aggressive decks on ladder right now and most control matchups are pretty good too. You can also autopilot something like zoo, secret paladin or tempo mage. Not much thought input needed and you'll grind to legend eventually.
Because control priest is such a hard deck right? Control priest is just as autopilot as zoolock, and I've played both.

What does it mean that a deck is autopilot?
If you refer to only staying on curve - you are incorrect.
If you are refering to that the cards play themselves without the need for synergies- wrong again. Control priest relies on many different combos.
So do tell. How is control priest auto pilot and then using your own definition give us examples of non auto pilot decks and let's see how your logic holds?
Every deck has combos. Some decks are harder than others but this thread really isn't about that. If you guys want to make passive aggressive insults at other players because of what decks they play, go form another thread.

jap, exactly that ;) and thanks - stop that scrubby shit, no one here should care about which deck is "cool" and "uncool" to play if his main aim is "heading for legend"

FIrst of all, I never said control priest is autopilot. I said it's just as autopilot as zoolock because the other guy was saying you can try it with control priest or an autopilot deck such as zoolock. An autopilot deck is basically a deck that is very easy to play, you just use your removal and play your minions. There isn't much thought about your win condition, you keep removing the enemies minion with good trades and removal and play your own (except for aggressive decks ofcourse), and control priest is pretty easy to pilot. Some decks are less easy, e.g.:
Freeze mage, patron warrior, oil rogue, miracle rogue. And I didn't make my previous comment to bash control priest, just to ridicule his statement claiming zoolock is an autopilot deck whereas control priest is not.

Actually both of you are pretty wrong. Neither Zoo, nor Tempo Mage and especially not Priest are autopilot decks.
Whether a deck is autopilot or not, is an opinion. But once again, I've never said zoolock is an autopilot deck, I just said it's just as autopilot as control priest, and I stand by that statement.

I want to add that the difference between aggro decks and control decks in their difficulty of play are the match ups they are facing. The game plan for aggro and control decks are pretty straightforward when they are faced against each other. Aggro decks try to control board and/or go face for a quick finish. Control decks try to survive and outlast aggro decks until they run out of steam.
The difference in skill can be express when the match ups are different. control vs control is a good example where skill is a critical factor in the result. There is much more decision making in this match up and the more skilled player generally win. For control decks, the gameplan changes and there's a lot more ways/decisions to make against other control decks. As for aggro, the game plan is still the same regardless of the match up, control the board and/or go face.
IMO, control decks such as priest requires more skill to pilot than aggro decks.

As an aggro player in the mirror match up you always have to decide whether you will be able to out-face the opponent and thus whether you should prioritize face damage or board control - the playstyle changes dramatically and the ability to win the mirror match is only gained through experience.
Been using Renolock and Tempo mage and this is the fastest I have climbed ranks yet! Already rank 6 less than 2 weeks into the season, should be rank 5 by end of week then legend the week after!

I hope, this is helpful to some of you..."
I like aggro decks because the game is fast play styled. I despise long games.
I am starting to really like zoolock.
Starting to have some good luck with it so far. one rank from 9 atm. Seems to be getting better to rank up now after the first few days of the season.
My zoo deck has brann in it, the only change I did was removed one doomguard and put in a sea giant. It has gormak as well.
For some odd reason I havent lost a game today.... win streaked from 11 to 9 2 stars. o-o
So is it past the time phasse where all the good players are back to legend +? xD
Fuck cubelock

I'll climb the ladder entirely with Control Warrior and see where I can reach with.

wow... last season got legend... this season stuck at rank 16 :( the horror!!!
