I don't have the time, the cards or the skill needed to reach Legend, at the moment. I'm OK climbing up a bit more every month. I got Rank 11 with Burst Rogue last season, I hope to do better this month with Midrange Palading and Oil Pirates Rogue.
if i may humbly suggest sth? If it really is about getting as high as possible for you: Stop playing gimmicky decks and stick to the tier 1 department... Midrange Pally is okish. Right now my suggestions would be Patron, Midrange Druid, Renolock, Tempo Mage or Secret Pala though. If you are good at it freeze mage is also sth ...
Many people want to be "original" and limit themselves in their success like that. If it is not about ranking but about "style" for you, just forget my advice. I just think there is a contradiction between "heading for legend" and playing stuff like Pirate Rogue, at least if "heading for legend" is the main objective!
Just reached legend on EU, actually getting a nice rank.
Steamrolled through from rank 16 to rank 2, but took a while to move forward from that point. Decks I mainly played are Zoo and Freeze Mage, with some Druid and Midrange Hunter mixed in (Hunter is weak though). Zoo is really strong, no wonder a lot of people play it currently. Counters Druid (less of them since February, but still a lot), decent against Paladin and Tempo Mage if they aren't really lucky, and the unfavored matchups are winnable too. I found interesting that Reno decks basically disappeared, I only met 2-3 while laddering.
How do you feel about the Zoo vs Renolock matchup. I feel like if the Reno player doesn't draw Chow, Hellfire or Reno quickly, Zoo just overrun it pretty easily. Also I feel that Brann is painful to deal with early on for Renolock.
Last season I played mostly zoo and besides the secret-Paladins the most common opponents were the Renolocks. Imo it is a 50-50% matchup, but I would say that Renolock is slightly favored. Especially if it manages to put early on the battlefield a Mal'Ganis from its Voidcaller.

It's kind of a 50-50 indeed, but I'd favor the zoo. Highly depends on the early game of the Reno decks (and of course, whether they have reno in hand or not). Try to play around AOE and save your owl for the big taunts, that's the best way to improve the matchup in my opinion. Most versions run the Arcame Goldem / Leeroy combo instead of demons, that's one thing to keep in mind as well.

Anyone would have already quit this game with my unluck.

No problem, thanks for the suggestion. Sadly I don't have most of the important cards for those decks. In addition, I would probably find Patron, Freeze and Renolock too slow, I don't like very long games! And I don't feel any sympathy for Secrepal. Midrange Druid would be nice if I could get the cards, maybe in the future.
I like a lot the feeling of the Midrange Paladin, it's the main deck I'm going to use. As for the Pirate Oil, I'd like to try it as a secondary deck. I used to play Oil Rogue (a cheap version, without Van Cleef nor Dr. Boom) but I'd like something with a bit more puch in the early turns; the deck should be good for rank 5-3, according to Icy Veins. I'd be happy with rank 10-9 this season, I don't think the Pirates Oil is so bad a deck for this :)
ah ok. cool then ;) you might additionally try an agressive zoo (don't need boom or Malganis in those versions) Zoo is fun, still deep to play and it can easily get you to legend... I did my first legend with a zoo back in january 2015 when I was about as "poor" as you are now collection-wise... here is a list (gormok is not necessary imho): https://tempostorm.com/hearthstone/decks/zoolock-meta-snapshot-46
Actually im sitting on 9/1 see aloooot of cancerPalas. Druid is actually not in favior for this shit damn hell lucky draw cancer.
Anysuggestion? Zoo is not an option for me.
Control priest. I have like 75-80% win rate vs Paladins, at rank 10 atm.
The only way I can lose is pretty much if Paladin manages to hit a Piloted Shredder followed by Loatheb and then Mysterious Challenger. That is he manages to sticky lots of minions hoping I dont sit on a Lightbomb on turn 6 because else it doesnt matter he loses anyway.
Between the Wild Pyromances, Zombie Chow, Deathlord, Auchenai Soulpriest + Circle of Healing, Holy Nova, Lightbomb and steal his Dr Boom and Trion with double Entomb not much a secret Paladin can do.
Managed to hit rank 5 on the first day of the season with aggro paladin, not played since but planning on secret paladin down to legend this weekend! Grind ahead
Impressive (not being sarcastic)!
1. How many games did you play?
2. How can you succeed with such a deck? I feel like there are tons of Zoo and Priests on the ladder and I can't believe there are people that succeeds to climb so fast with such volatile decks.
You kind of need a perfect draw I feel, like face Shaman.

Sure, I'm starting to hate Zoo, such a powerful, cheap deck! I can only beat them from time to time. Maybe I should craft a few of the cards and flirt a bit with the dark side of the Meta :) But for this season, I stick to my plan. I'm not in a hurry to get to Legend, I need time to get the cards. Thanks for the suggestions!
one last one though ;) do not think in those categories: "dark side" - don't let the scrubs on sites like this one get any wrong ideas into your head. There is nothing wrong with just playing the best deck in a current meta and with your time/skill ... Pros don't do anything else and people following artificial rules the game doesn't know - "I don't play cancer, blablabla" - are the real idiots, not the ones just doing what it takes to win ...
yes. but the real question is, can my zoo skills take me to Legend? most of netdecks can take a person to legend but people think it's automatic. net decks will only get you so far until you learn how to properly pilot it. analyzing your plays is much more important than a deck.
Yes and I went from rank 15 to rank 5 in 1 day while maybe losing a grand total of 7 or 8 games. I had a streak all the way from rank 9 to 5 IIRC.
decklist u used?
It's the standard midrange druid list but I use 2 Roots, 1 Aspirant, 1 MC tech, 1 shade, 1 azure drake. There isn't some secret deck for hitting legend quickly, I am very comfortable with the deck and am very familiar with the rest of the decks played on ladder and how to exploit/play around them . I curved out well and got some good matchups which is the reason I was able to move up so fast, but I've hit top 100 legend the last 2 months with the same deck.
how do any of you keep sane when you reach rank 1. Every game I feel so much pressure during rank 1 because if you lose you effed up and are going back to rank 2 and more and more pressure just builds up.

If you have the time to play a lot of games it doesn't bother you times when you don't i could see getting really anxious.

It's more or less routine at this point, once you hit legend a few times and still have a positive win rate at legend rank, you believe you should win every game outside of hard counters.

What kind of pace should I be on in going for legend?
5 is roughly halfway right? So should I aim for rank 5 in the next week or so?
Currently 10 if it matters..
Did you use Druid the whole climb?
Its fangs are in your flesh before its hiss leaves your ears.
Golden Heroes: Druid -> Rogue -> Shaman -> Hunter -> Warlock
