Hey guys, I'm a relatively new player (around one and a half months) and I decided to both share my deck on here as well as seek some feedback and thoughts for improvement. It's called the "Neo-Control Mage Deck," and is kind of a control deck based upon cards which are accessible to most players, along with legendaries and some commons from the Naxxramas expansion. I'd love to hear what you guys think, and maybe hear some ideas of how to improve it in the future.
Looks like a pretty generic Value Mage. Value decks are not good in this meta because of how heavily synergized all the top decks are.
I'd take out Vaporize, Goldshire Footman, and Frost Nova. Add in another Frostbolt, Polymorph, and Flamestrike.
It's generally better to run 2x of most cards than 1x of a lot of different cards, as that makes your deck more consistent. I'd suggest going through your deck and replacing a lot of your 1-offs with a second copy of your more effective ones.
I get what you're saying, and I do understand that since I am relatively new I am somewhat limited in the cards that I use. I know that some of the cards seem sort of out of place, but I've just been really impressed with how well it has worked so far. As I acquire better cards, I will continue to swap out my current ones for the new and improved versions. I like how my deck has some good low mana taunt cards like goldshire footman and the mirror images - if I can get either of those down right in the start, along with the micro machine mech, then I immediately have an early game advantage that the opponent has to put a lot of effort and turns into resolving.
I never really look through the current top decks, as I don't have most of the cards for them, so I like having my own unique one. Also, believe it or not, I beat like 3 patron warrior decks (all pretty similar to what's considered the best deck in the meta atm) in a row and it felt AWESOMe, so I just thought I'd share the deck. Thanks again. :)
I think I will definitely be removing Frost Nova, as it is probably the weakest card I have in the entire deck at the moment (although I must say, I enjoy the gold very much :D). Any suggestions as to what to replace it with?

The issue is, Goldshire Footman has just saved me sooooo many times. Like really, I win so many games just because of that one cad, it's not even funny. For now I'm gonna stick with the Footman, and search for a card to replace the Frost Nova. Replacing it with a Chillwind Yeti sounds like a pretty good idea. As for the footman, I will definitely try replacing him with Mana Wyrm in some casual matches and see how it works out though. Thanks!
As in there would be some instances where either getting that early 1 mana taunt card that can also do a small amount of damage just helps me get control early on, and also there have been times where that low mana taunt save me from an impending enemy push that gives me just enough life to survive till the next turn and win the game.

A 1 mana taunt card turn one doesn't really help. It forces your opponent to trade with it, but it only has one attack so it most likely won't kill anything. Please trust us when we tell you that Footman is just one of the worst cards in the game because it lacks the ability to trade.
At low levels where people assume the game is a face race taunts are over-valued. When you get to higher ranks you will realize that each player needs to send their minions into each other's minions. So when a 3/2 for 2 mana kills your 1/2 for 1 mana and then their same 3/2 (now a 3/1) kills YOUR 3/2, you have lost 2 cards while he lost one.
Knowing that (ignoring card effects) you and your opponent are each drawing one card per turn means that if you continue to make poor trades like this, the opponent will eventually have cards in hand when you do not.
That may seem like a big rant but once you recognize that Goldshire Footman is very bad you will be a wiser and stronger player.
I beat like 3 patron warrior decks (all pretty similar to what's considered the best deck in the meta atm) in a row
Patron Warrior might be the strongest deck in the game, but it does require at least a baseline amount of skill to play effectively. If you're playing at low ranks, the likelihood is that the deck was being played very incorrectly. A poorly played Patron Warrior is 20x worse than a poorly played zoo or face hunter.
If you really want to be able to accurately judge how good your deck is, you have to be able to rank up with it in your current meta. Obviously this also contains the confounding variable of player skill (I don't know how people can get to legend with Circle Priest right now, but it happens).
Now, on the topic of Goldshire Footman: ->Your deck is a Value deck. That means you're trying to squeeze the maximum amount of benefit from each individual card (not synergistic effects). Therefore, each individual card must have some value. ->Value is generally measured by a card's ability to trade for other cards (so Flamestrike is very high value, while Frost Nova has very low value) ->Goldshire Footman dies for free to almost every card in the game. This means he has very low value. ->Therefore, Goldshire Footman is a bad card in this deck (and in most decks, for a number of reasons it would take all day to enumerate)

I think you summed it up nicely. Except that 3/1 could potentially kill a Shredder as well.

Have a great deck that's really, really cheap? Help the new players out
Hey man, thanks for the really quick response!

Dumb question, but how do you create a New Thread? I can't find the button for it.
It's in the top right of each forum. "Create Thread" I believe.

Frost Nova may be weak but also consider taking out Goldshire Footman, he is much worse. I'd probably swap it for a Frostbolt or another Chillwind Yeti. Also swap Goldshire Footman for another Mana Wyrm, because the footman is just terrible.
um.. can you be more specific? I just see "search" and "tools".
nm lol. Thanks

People auto concede if you play Goldshire Footman
