Hi all. Warrior is rising a lot in popularity lately with Rush Warrior being good like always, but at the same time various builds of Control Warrior (with a choice of win conditions: C'Thun, Silas, Rattlegore,...) becoming more and more popular, thanks to the new tools they got from the miniset: Mutanus the Devourer, which is a nice disruption tool against other control decks, but primarily Kresh, Lord of Turtling, who can be resurrected twice: once from N'Zoth, God of the Deep and once from Overlord Saurfang.
However there are some other, more aggressive, Warrior builds, that I believe are viable alternatives for the class and I'd like to share 2 of them here.
So first of all there this Frenzy Warrior deck I built and gave a try. It doesn't run any cards from the miniset, which means that this archetype theoretically exists since more than a month, but somehow it never really got playtested.
There are a lot of frenzy-related synergies in this deck. Augmerchants and Cruel Taskmasters fit greatly with the frenzy minions. I'm not sure if Whirlwind or Whirling Combatant is better as a board-wide frenzy activator or if they are needed at all, but I am running 1x from each. Whirlwind is cheaper but the Combatant comes with a premium-statted body. On the other hand it's not a minion you want to bring back with Overlord Saurfang. The deck has a nice early game and can quickly start pushing face damage, but the curve is high enough to not run out of gas too soon. Overlord Saurfang provides some nice late-game refill and Gromm can also be a big finisher in the late game. Outrider's Axe and Stonemaul Anchorman provide enough card draw. I went 4-0 with this deck vs various opponents. It's probably more of a 'honeymoon period' effect and not a true indication of the deck's strength, but I don't think the deck is that bad. Give it a try and let me know
The idea is that Whetstone Hatchet, although not too impressive as a weapon, can be played on turn 1, which allows for a nice curve play into either Man-at-Arms or Fogsail Freebooter. Since we run quite a few weapons and most have quite high durability, there is a lot of benefit from buffing their attack early, hence the Ratchet Privateer. Then with so many pirates I thought it made sense to add Southsea Captains. Perhaps the deck has too many weapons, let me know what you think.
Yeah 8 weapons is going to be too clunky in most games, especially considering the hatchet’s 4 durability. I’d recommend 4-5 weapons. With the slots you save you could probably add Thresh, Saurfang and Rattlegore for some late game punch, or add some more midrange minion and weapon payoffs. Frothing Berserker comes to mind.
So I assume this deck supposed to be hitting enemy face, even with your weapon, when possible. So outrider axe will be too slow (to hit face). And you don't really need more draw with it I think, means you just drop that weapon..
The sad think about aggro weapon warrior in today's meta is, it get stopped by big taunt, like libram of hope from paladin, the 6/6 deathrattle from priest, the neutral c'thun body and the strongman (mostly in control warlock). So because of that, it will not be hurtful to add hard temporary removal like Maiev. And I personally like to add Lord barov to combo it with fogsail to boardclear when you already behind. It's seems so hard to swing back the board without so many rush guy like usual.
So the first deck (Frenzy Warrior) is somewhat decent, I am 8-8 so far around diamond 5. The pirate warrior one is complete garbage though, I deleted it already...

The second deck tries to make use of 4 new cards from the miniset and is only a theorycraft as I haven't tested it yet in action:

Check out my fun and innovative decks here:
Beat your opponent to a pulp with Revenant Warrior or outlast them with Demon Reno Warlock.
