So I realize Outland's is a few days away so this will inevitably change, but i've been mulling around in making a deck revolving around priest "steal" cards. The new priest cards/buffs help this out a bit. I've been about 40/60 W/L with some VERY VERY close games.
It's actually done a lot better than I thought it would. I did originally have 2 Envoy of Lazul but that card felt dead because it's really basically a 33% chance of stealing a card (with a generic 2/2 body) so i removed it. I had also originally not had Holy Nova or Penance but I found I really needed the removal.
This ended up being sort of a control deck, and honestly it does ok. The problem I find is once you get behind it's REALLY hard to catch up. Some cards that "feel" weak to me are:
Shadow Madness - I thought this would do better...and it's served me well a few times but im still kinda iffy on it.
Mindflayer Kaahrj - Difficult to setup, but this could be me waiting for the "best moment" when really I should just be slamming it down instead of waiting for the best possible scenario
Murozond the Infinite - Similar to the above. I've found a lot of good uses with him but more often than not he feels like a dead card.
Natalie I thought would be dead weight, but ended up ok. Dark Prophecy Actually ended up being pretty useful. Any suggestions? This is actually a SUPER fun deck to play. Also handspace can be an issue if I steal stuff early.
You cant make thief priest competitive enough without being highlander, at least that's what happen now. Because so many people playing highlander and copying their highlander card is just so good especially if you play a control and defensive game.
If people still playing highlander next expansion, I think you should make it highlander too. Or at least make it semi highlander with less duplicates.
I just realize its for this expansion instead of next expansion..
Here's my experience with thief priest.
Yshaarj played together with mass hysteria is not that hard of setup. If you include shadow madness, then you better include grave rune. Your main target is unshielded zilliax, shadow and grave runed it for big swing. You can always use grave rune to infiltrator as alternative. And Seance is a good card if you really make this highlander since it can target your opponent zephrys. Murozond is not really worthed without dragon package (discover spell and draw spell). So if you include murozond, you should bring the cleric and the doctor to let you get the removal in time. Murozond is actually good counter against togwaggle spell, which is one turn you can swing against rogue without using your highlander card. The other dragon you can use as dragon package is the 6 drop dragon that deal damage equal to target's attack. And i even use amalgam as a 3 drop instead of darkprophecy, because it also works as dragon in hand lategame.
You're building a thief priest deck, but you've added everything and the kitchen Zilliax (yes, please cringe at my jokes)! Are you trying to build a thief/Galakrond deck? Otherwise, I'd probably replace all Galakrond cards with either card draw or anything that discovers or summons other minions. Also, if you have 2x Convincing Infiltrator and 2x Time Rip, wouldn't that make Natalie Seline rather redundant? You could probably replace her with something else. I'd also recommend replacing 1x Shadow Word: Pain with 1x Mass Dispel. Removing some cards in favor of some card draw would most likely improve the deck. But these are just my suggestions. Have fun!
