I have a question regarding the number of cards in my deck when building a deck.
When building lets say an aggro deck (for example), the general purpose is to flood the board with efficient minions early on and steam-roll the opponent. My question in this example is when placing 1 or 2 or 3 drops, does it matter to have duplicates to be more efficient? Or what matters is to have X amount of 1 drops to guarantee a strong mulligan and opening hand and X amount of 2 drops to have a chance for a strong coin opener?
To explain it a bit more, lets say in a world where Fire Fly and/or Mecharoo and/or Argent Squire and/or Possessed Villager are all of the same value/power/relevance to the deck, and you can only put 4 in total. So do you place 1 of each because the chance of drawing a 1 drop remains the same (4 out of 30) or do you place a duplicate of 2 of them?
Again I am asking as a theory to deck building logic not in terms of powerlevel
You can look at stats to see which card have higher win rates when drawn. In the case of Squire and Mecharoo they’re basically the same card so it probably doesn’t matter what combination you play those in since they’re basically the same card. If you’re looking at cards with different effects however it’s very rare that 2 different cards are exactly the same in terms of power level and you can usually look at Drawn Winrate % stats to figure out what card is stronger. The reason you play duplicates of good cards is because the second copy is better than some other card. Let’s say for instance (i’m making up numbers) Firefly has a 60% drawn winrate and Argent Squire has a 57% drawn winrate. Now let’s say the other 28 cards in your deck are perfect and you only have 2 open deck slots in. You would play 2 Firefly instead of 1 Firefly and 1 Argent Squire since the second copy of Firefly is a better card than the first copy of Argent Squire. There are certain exceptions to this which usually have to do with redundant effects like Tutor cards but generally the rule is you want the average power of a card in your deck to be as high as possible and it’s better to run 2 60% cards and 2 59% cards than to run one 60%, one 59%, one 58% and one 57% cards.
Thank you for your reply but I am not looking at power level and win chance when drawn, I am as you exactly put it does it matter to have 1 Argent Squire and 1 Mecharoo or just have a duplicate? Does it matter to have single vs duplicate in terms of building a deck? In the end I have the same chance (2 out of 30) to draw either one of them right?

depends on the kind of deck you are building, if you are building a mech paladin with a lot of mech synergies it's better to have the mecharoo, but if you're saying handbuff or board buffing cards like kings, it's better to have the divine shield most of the time, if this isn't what you are looking for you should check out the early in rise of shadows mech paladin decks and why some of them ran the 1 mana 1/3 mech and why some of them didn't.

Every deck building choice is in terms of power level, otherwise why build the deck. If your question is whether you had 4 vanilla one mana 1/3 minions with different names, then the answer is obvious. Put in whatever you like. But they aren't the same card so look for what is either most synergistic with your deck or what is strongest against the current meta.
If your deck is a *no duplicates* deck, then 4 different minions is the synergy choice!

That's it.
