Midrange Shaman in Karazhan meta. It wasn't the strongest deck we've seen, but ladder was about 60% of it, and I remember the world championship 16/16 players used it, and 14/16 banned it.
Agreed with everything but it being polarizing, that deck didn't care what it faced, it just beat you up in 5 turns when lucky with the draws. If anything it oppressed everything.
Pre-nerf undertaker. T1 undertaker and if you didn't have an answer that guy would snowball the fuck out of you.
One of the first aggro shaman decks: I mean that deck applied constant pressure, early, mid and lategame and it came to a point where 60 or 65 % of the ladder consisted of this deck.
Pirate warrior (pre-nerf): consistent t4-6 kill.
Pre-nerf Raza was a strong deck but it relied heavily on drawing Raza and Anduin.

When a combo deck outrace aggro you know something is very wrong.
UnderHunter without a shadow of a doubt. That deck was busted good. It got me to my highest ever Rank of 4 in the few weeks that I played it. And I don't play much.
Any other deck pales in comparison. Spell Hunter is bollocks when faced with UnderHunter.
probably Undertaker hunter but that was before I was playing the game so I can't really judge it.
The strongest deck I know of and played against is probably midrange totem shaman from the Karazhan adventure. Meta was shamans and decks who lost against shaman. Freaking Tuskar totemic and it's stupid Totem Golem highrolls-
Another really strong one was patron warrior of old before the warsong commander nerf.
A third really strong one was pirate warrior in the Gadgetzan era. Consistently killing you on turn 4-6 and only countered by Renomage playing iceblock before turn 5 and Reno on 6
Honorable mention: Force of Nature + Savage Roar combo druid. Nowadays this combo wouldnt be that hard to deal with but back then it was one of the strongest decks in the meta which needed a consistent field clearing every turn
About two years ago, the community lost its shit during the Gadgetzan meta-game. A number of devs, including BB, chimed in on the subreddit, and on Twitter, regarding the relative power-level of a number of decks in the past. Huntertaker was always taken as their point of reference in discussing the most degenerate decks since the game launched in 2014.
IIRC, BB explained that Huntertaker made up over 35% of the meta-game, with a 60% win-rate. Since a third of the games were mirror-matches, a little bit of quick math suggests that the deck was about a 2-to-1 favourite, on average, against every other deck on ladder.
It shouldn't be too difficult to track down some of the relevant posts, for anyone interested in exploring "Hearthstone history."
For me, three decks stand out, undertaker hunter, mean streets aggro shaman (shamanstone) and pirate warrior. This question will always be subjective. I hate playing against aggro so those are the decks I remember the most.

Forgotten just as quickly as people forget that Wild is a format.

If you say anything but Undertaker Hunter you're just showing the fact that you didn't play back then. There isn't even a competition.
Hard to choose just one deck, there has been so many OP ones.
Probably the pre-nerf Patron Warrior, that deck dominated the pro scene. I think it's the best deck ever, if it's played by good players.
Football and games.
Undertaker Hunter.
Everyone who disagrees is either delusional or hasn't played the game when the deck was active (and I envy you)
This is what I meant with Original Patron Warrior, best deck under the right players.
Football and games.
Actually the most busted deck in the game was giants with pre-nerf Naga Sea Witch. Turn 5 (4 with coin), with a bunch of 8/8 giants. I miss that deck.
Giantslock with Naga Sea Witch
Always expect the unexpectable!
Big contenders are:
Pre-nerf undertaker. T1 undertaker and if you didn't have an answer that guy would snowball the fuck out of you.

Deathstalker Rexxar

Pirate Warrior is a worthy challenger for this topic, but the old Secret Paladin should be pretty high, too.
UnderHunter without a shadow of a doubt. That deck was busted good. It got me to my highest ever Rank of 4 in the few weeks that I played it. And I don't play much.

4/3/19 RIP Keith Flint. 😔
The words that made you concede turn 1: "Bring out your dead".
Old school patron warrior. Could win against every deck.
Back during huntertaker i would have been so happy just to reach turn 4.
probably Undertaker hunter but that was before I was playing the game so I can't really judge it.
