My Warlock legendary pool has made me try and build discard decks a few times, but I always seem to discard the wrong card. The inability to select which card you discard has always hurt the mechanic. If there's more cards like Shriek on the way, that can give us a level of control without altering the mechanic too much.
Looking forward to trying out this mechanic in a fresh light. Really hope it is viable in standard ranked. That said, every other build will be at its most powerful until early next year. Hopefully, if it finally works, we'll get more discard viable cards next year, rather be left with a few really nice looking cards and a gaping hole. Also curious how this will all go in wild, but I'm terrified of trying discard in wild. Way too slow and janky.
I have a theory that Blizzard foresaw Discardlock being too strong and thus underpowered the discard cards by just a little bit making it inviable. Think about if Clutchmother was a 3-3 and gained +3+3 with each discard, she would be super powerful right? but +2+2 just isn't quite enough, or if Blood-Queen had sliiiighhttly better stats, or gained +2 attack instead, she would probably be OP, but ends up underpowered. It looks to me like Blizzard is just saying "screw it, we're goin' for it" excited for discard lock. Especially in Wild!

Are you saying that discardlock is too slow and janky or that wild is? In wild, discardlock can have explosive starts with Silverware Golem and Malchezzar’s Imp.
Very kind of Blizzard to bring this archetype back to life after I dust my Clutchmother.
You too, huh... :-/
I thought they said they were done with supporting the discard mechanic.
Ouch! I never dust legendary cards. That said, I'm not sure if I'd re-craft Clutchmother Zavas if I'd already dusted her. She won't be standard for all that long with the new cards.

I always assumed it was a mechanic issue. Like choosing which card you discarded would be too difficult to program in. Lowest cost is definitely a step in the right direction. You're right about the boosts; as they are, they just don't cut it. Double it, and it would be too good. Actually, I think +3/3 on Clutchmother Zavas, starting as a 2/2, would be reasonable.
Clutchmother looks to have some potential, but I doubt Lana'thel and Dinomancer will find a place in the deck.
Yeah, Lana'thel never seems good value. Cruel Dinomancer, however, can be fun. I had a game where the only creature discarded was Cruel Dinomancer, and then I played the other one. Crazy bugger kept resurrecting himself. Despite the eternalmancering, I still lost that game. XD

That is what I was saying, but clearly I haven't tried it out properly! I did have a crack once, focusing on Clutchmother Zavas, Blood-Queen Lana'thel, and Cruel Dinomancer. Think it was before I purchased all the adventures. Might give it a crack pre-Rastakhan.

loool? that's like saying they wont print more paladin murlocs in the future they want to see it work and they'll use the Murloc paladin/Res and big priest/togwaggle druid theory, "if you shoot enough balls of paint at a wall it will eventually be painted regardless of the order where you throw them", also Fist of Jaraxxus, Malchezaar's Imp and Silverware Golem exist in wild
Blood queen and dinomancer I've already ruled out for being crap and slow. Then they will just be discarded. With the discard being not random it may change but probably not. The new 6/6 will be great and jeklik or clutch mother means you have 2 chances now in opening hand for doing broken stuff.
I'm going for it day 1 and will have fun trashing odd paladin. But aggressive mulligan into clutch mother or jeklik will probably be correct and question is if quest is good. We'll see and I'll have fun finding out!
I'm ALL for it. Always loved the discard archetype.

With cards like High Priestess Jeklik, Shriek, and Soulwarden, alongside the already available (if not all that good right now) Clutchmother Zavas, Blood-Queen Lana'thel, and Cruel Dinomancer, what's the chance we'll see discard in ranked standard before rotation?

Clutchmother Zavas was never good as a one off (maybe if it was rare/epic, it would be better?), but High Priestess Jeklik is giving us an improved partner. And Soulwarden, well, he looks like he'd work great in any deck sporting Doomguard or Soulfire.

Rusty Recycler
Ironic. It could recycle others, but not itself.
A True warlock mastah crafts a New one. is not about dust or money now.

I think the best of the discard cards that don't need to synergise to be good, plus maybe soulwarden (draw 3 is really strong) will make the cut.
More than that I can't really see happening currently. But depends on the rest of the set.
To bad quest rotates out next expansion. Or maybe that is a good thing and the reason Blitz tries out the discard stuff.
I have a questlock since few months and really like it. Here are some serious candidates for my craft list.
Good to see some nice synergy for this mechanic.
