This is my first constructed deck that I've ever built from scratch! I'm looking for feedback on how you deck builders go about improving a deck?
After many months of playing, I thought it was time to browse my collection and see if I could 'build a deck'. This one has surprised me ... it's ridiculously good fun to play!
To show the deck for this thread, I've created it. Here's what I've written in the description (says it all basically).
P.S. What I'm looking for is for people who build decks (or not as the case may be) to give the deck a go, and let me know where you'd start tweaking and why (if that's OK?). I'd really like to start building my own decks for my games, and this is my start. Thanks everyone.
....
Mulligan hard for your Wretched Tillers - they're only a 1/1 (for 1 mana) and seem like no threat at all, but when they attack the opponent's face, they deal 2 extra damage to them.
Throw them out with some 'bigger threats' such as Bloodmage Thalnos etc. Your opponent will usually go for the 'bigger threat' (i.e. the 2/2) - leaving you free to get an extra card draw and another 3 damage to the face next turn!
I've had success copying my Wretched Tillers early game with Mirage Caller and Vivid Nightmaretoo. The opponent will nearly always aim for your Mirage Caller and leave your copied Wretched Tiller intact - 3 more damage to the face!
Keep up the early face damage whilst you collect spell damage/spell cost reduction cards in your hand for a couple of turns.
When you're ready, pop out Prophet Velen (doubles all spell damage) and copy it if you can! Failing that, Malygos is the back-up reinforcement.
Say goodbye to your opponent :)
...
This IS my first constructed deck, and I haven't yet searched if this exact build has been made before - what I'd love to know is - how would an experienced deck builder go about improving this build after they've played/tried it?
Hoping to learn a few things about deck building!
Many thanks for reading - let's see where this deck ends up after the comments/feedback to make it even better!
I would think the deck may be weak midgame and to board clears. Yes there's a strong board early game (assuming you get a Tiller on board and have a semi decent hand) but there's just some things i'd clear up.
I'd drop Dollmaster Dorian. As it doesn't seem to do much in this deck. There isn't a large amount of card draw that you can use on your turn to get good value and 90% of the time he dies on the very next turn.
Immediately following that, card draw. This deck has none, aside from Acolyte of Pain so if you drew your starting hand of a Tiller, Mirage Caller and say Radiant Elemental; you have great curve yes, but no way to cycle through the deck. Maybe thing of adding PwS or Northshire Cleric.
It seems that for the most part you built a control/OTK priest, with the bits and pieces of either; still a very good attempt for your first deck!
I'll need a day or two but once I'm done with playtesting I'll get back to you.
Keep on deckbuilding, this game needs creativity! :)
