A lot of people seem to be saying Patron Warrior and Freeze Mage.
And a lot of people are also saying that this game never was super hard. So I'll add my point to that. I used to play a shit-tonne of YuGiOh. Where there was shit like Nekroz and D/D/D, that are infinitely harder than any Hearthstone deck. Personally, the hardest YuGiOh deck I played was Elemental Hero Electrum Gustav Max OTK. Never played MTG, so I don't know anything about the skill cap there. But yeah, so while no deck in Hearthstone is YuGiOh or MTG levels of hard, I'm talking about in the vacuum of Hearthstone decks. That's my stupid ramble done.
It's too bad that Dead Man's Hand Warrior has so many decks that can just kill it from hand, because that's as skill-testing as many of the classic decks mentioned above--and in some ways more frustrating, since you can play for a half hour and then make one wrong move that results in you losing the game many turns later.
I don't get how everybody says patron warrior was hard to pilot - it was one of the easier OP decks out there. Everybody i encountered played the deck to glory so if everybody can play it, it doesn't really take skills.

Easy to play, hard to master. An idiot could destroy with it, but none of the pros played it the perfectly
You mind giving me a quick rundown on how that works?
Dane has a lot of youtube clips of this. its generally, brann + shadowcaster on the brann + shadowcaster on the shadowcaster in a reno deck (with duplicates of shadowcaster only) to copy stuff like cairne, aya (with nzoth package) elise, vilespine, si:7, rag, healbot, edwin, swashburgler, nzoth, reno and bonemare for a disgusting amount of value. you can play the fatigue game with elise packs/map (depends on which one you prefer), value game, or just a billion removal options. its a lot of fun and offers a very different game every time since you have the options in your deck to do pretty much whatever you want assuming you draw them.
Well when it comes to deck difficulty...Hearthstone has never really came close to MTG at all.
patron warrior literally just took preemptive calculations
freeze mage is extremely overrated
miracle would come the closest at a 4/10 difficulty.
it really is a dumbed down game though...the misplays at Rank 5-legend are gross.

The evolution of spotting Freeze mage win conditions:
1. I need to find my combo.
2. I need to clear.
3. I need to stall.
4. I need to draw.
5. I can OTK him.
6. I can outvalue him.
7. I can fatigue him.
8. If I outvalue him I can fatigue him.
9. If I outvalue him my combo should be enough.
10. If I get enough value and my combo I can fatigue him.
11. I need to get in <X> pings and then my value, combo and fatigue should do the rest, and if not I'll save for OTK.
I'm sure there are many, many levels beyond this. I just haven't seen them yet.
Miracle rogue. I can't count how man times I've died to one simple istake
