This Week's Finalists
Entry Restrictions:
Your card must be a class Secret, but it cannot be a Hunter, Mage, or Paladin card. You should design your card with the idea in mind that it is and will be the only Secret card that its class will have. In other words, your opponent will always know what it is when it gets played, and its main function is as a spell with a delayed trigger, rather than for any deceptive guessing games.
We have whittled down ~310 valid entries to just 30 of the community's favorites.
Check out all the finalists below and vote in our poll (vote for as many or as few as you like) to help decide the winner and be sure to check back after the poll finishes for the announcement of the winner and the start of a new theme!
NOTE: Cards with a black border have additional material, like explanations or unique tokens,

And of course the opponent will pay the mana required to use his Hero Power, that's the point of the card.
The secret won't activate if your opponent used their Hero Power before playing any card (unless they have a card like Coldarra Drake on the field) or if they don't have enough mana to use their Hero Power.
Swift Strike
Of note, there were a couple of pages with such low voter activity that we didn't bring in any finalists from them. This is in breaking from our general practice, but it's going to be something that has to get done if we keep having this many entries, and we're going to have to talk more about how to adjudicate that.
Also of note, there are a few finalists that us mods disagreed on whether or not they qualified. In the spirit of leniency, the ones we at least disagreed on were allowed to proceed. So if you see a finalist you're not totally sure fits, we did probably have a discussion about it.
One of the weakest finalist page ever imo. Some cards are way too situational, others are UP or OP and I'm not a fan of 1, 2 or 3 mana traps as they already exist.
Out of all the finalists I only really like Imprisonment and Tangle Wire (feels very Yu-Gi-Oh). Tangle Wire is a tad too strong imo and should have been "summon a minion" instead imo, but will still vote for those two.
i agree ^, but i also think it is because the theme was so weak and didnt allow much creativity.
Woot, made it to the finals! I'm surprised to see no Druid entries, what happened?
Are u serious that Inspiration went throught? jesus ...

I completely disagree that the theme didn't allow much creativity. There were plenty of ways you could have gone with this as you can see by some of the finalists. It isn't a flaw in the theme that So many cards just went with spells that were delayed a turn. BTW, thank you everyone that voted me here! I'm psyched that my first real entry made it to the finals.
.
Yes, secrets can have many triggers so I'm actually really surprised and disappointed so many went with "At the start of your turn" which already is a boring type of secret, on the edge of not being a secret even. And so many cards were really weird and made no sense thematically. Doesn't have to be spot on, but some art, naming and effect for the chosen class was completely off.
23 pages yes, but only like 10 of them interesting?
Hearthpwn Community's Balancing of Cards.
Fun little breakdown on how many per class for anyone interested:
Rogue: 9
Warrior: 4
Priest: 6
Shaman: 5
Warlock: 3
Druid: 0
.
I think a lot of people didn't really follow the theme this week. It seems like people didn't realize what it meant to create a secret that is the ONLY secret for that class. There were a lot of entries that wouldn't work, because they are too easy to play around when you know what the secret is. And when one of these secrets is played, you know what it is. There are also a lot of weak or OP cards here.
The only ones I like are Imitation Game, Desperate Prayer, and Wrath of the Sea. I think Imitation Game probably works the best. With good knowledge of the meta, it can get you some free powerful cards, or make your opponent second-guess playing a Dr. Boom.
And for the love of god, STOP voting for Tangle Wire. It is ridiculously OP.

Voted for Giantslayer, Inspiration, and Desperate Prayer. While I like the effect of Downgrade, the card name and art just really turns me off (and yes, I know that Upgrade! is a card but the name is more fitting in that context.)
Q: What did Avril Lavigne say when her Asian masseuse refused to give sexual favors?
A: "So much for my happy ending."
It's certainly a bit strong, but not nearly in the vicinity of OP. You can play around it, making it have 0 impact and costing your opponent a draw.
The effect is "a bit strong". It's like a stronger Loatheb, because you can't use any spells or play any minions for their effects before attacking, and you can only play one card that turn. It's ridiculously OP because it costs zero on top of that. As it stands now, you could play Dr. Boom and this both on Turn 7. Then if they want BGH it, they will have to waste 4-5 mana to do so. And you couldn't both AOE the Boom Bots AND remove Dr. Boom in the same turn. Granted, that's not OP in and of itself, but it is powerful and should have a mana cost attached so you'd have to wait past turn 7 for the combo.

inspiration is very creative but i really don't like this, this is an insane combo break and very strong in aggro decks because every turn your opponent will have to use the hero power.
I think "the hatchery and the reward" are my favorites, i didn't like so much of this week. There are some really broken cards there and some very underpower.
Maybe... nah nah nah nah
I agree. Tangle wire is just ridiculous (sorry about the words). A 0 cost secret with an insane effect. This would be auto included in all type of decks, pirates, oil, aggro, control, everything this would be included.
Maybe... nah nah nah nah
Yes, it is, if Tangle Wire costs zero. For one thing, you assumed both boards started clear for some reason, and you act like rogue not using their hero powerful is meaningful. Any good player would time it so the used hero power the turn before playing a combo like this. And the fact that Tangle Wire costs a card is not enough to make up for its effect. If it costs zero, it should have an effect equally as powerful as Moonfire or Silence, and it doesn't,

I like Rush for having a fairly unique idea, and about none of the others.
Make the Card: The biggest thread on the site!
My mandibles which are capable of pressing down and tearing, my talons which are known to intercept and hold.
Also, I wish I could downvote Tangle Wire, if only for assuming that all Hearthstone players are male.

Are you seriously that thick? The implication was that you need to increase the cost. People don't use many zero cost cards because the power you get from zero mana isn't enough to warrant using it in a deck. An important part of card design is having the cost of the card be balanced with the effect, and you completely failed to do that.

The problem is, in the submission topic, there was an identical card to this, but its cost was 10, i think both are bad, 10 mana and 0 mana are just very op and very underpower, i think a 3 mana is ok, the effect is very good, and this as a 0 cost spell is insane, even more insane because you can't easier trigger combo effects.
Maybe... nah nah nah nah
