Well, there shouldn't have been as many pages technically, if you cut out all the deleted and disqualified submission its pretty easy to see that we could have had a few less submission total, but I think any kind of a cut off is a bad deal for sure. Yes, its a bummer that there are so many and often a card might have won on a different page, but for the most part the judging and voting is as good as its going to be for a forum. Its not like its a sight based on card design, like Hearthcards itself, its just a competition on a forum.
To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of the women.
What a tough competition it was this week. So many good entries made it through to the finals. Voted for Doubling Pod and Mannoroth.
Q: What did Avril Lavigne say when her Asian masseuse refused to give sexual favors?
A: "So much for my happy ending."
Yes, people tend to ignore the submission only thread and discuss everything inside it, that burden the Mob work and the page getting longer.
This is all nitpicking, because it's pretty clear that it that it does what it's intended to do. You don't make things as clear as possible in Hearthstone text, you try to make it as concise as possible.

18 pages takes 3 days or so, that is enough for designing and making the cards.
and 30 cards is not the problem and i am not blaming the mods i am just suggesting a solution for the problem, what will happen when we have more than 50 pages or so? do you think people will read the 50 cards?
or another suggestion might be 2 finals, one for all the cards (lets say 50) and the other day the final for the winner 10 cards.
This was my second entry since joining the site and I basically just got lucky it seems. Last week my entry barely got any votes, and now it crushed every other card on the page, being second only to Mannoroth. I think it really just comes down to what people want to see, even if it can be somewhat dull at times, and that some people might just be better at designing overall.

Is it just me, or people here like OP cards and vote for them? Half of the finalists deemed OP by me, and the Duplicate Pod is one of the strongest in here. And it gets most votes by now.
I voted for: Lil' Librarist, Confused Treant, Dreaming Whelp, Presence of Mind by modded, Enraged Treant, Adrenaline Rush, Gordunni Warlock, Kalecgos, Divine Knowledge, Jadefire Satyr, Victory or Death.
My review of the finalists:
Wrathion: A 5/6 draw 2 for 7, with a potential to draw two Dr. Booms? FREAKING OP.
Voidbringer: This misses "If you have one in your hand". But if you have one, this kid is better than a Bomb Lobber, and costs 1 plus discard a card that's meant to be discarded. FREAKING OP if procs, a substandard 2/1 if not. Overall, very strong and borders OP.
Lil' Librarist: A subpar 1-drop, but its likely strength that it can be silenced the same turn. Fine, and not as OP as it looks like, because should your enemy wipe it at once, you're one card short, and it's a gamble which one.
Corrupted Blue Whelp: Spell Damage +2 on a 2-mana minion is FREAKING OP, even with the drawback. Consider Fan of Knives and Arcane Explosion hitting for 3, Consecration hitting for 4 and Flamestrike hitting for 6. Or a double Fireball face for 8 each.
Rain of Arrows: I think it's kind of balanced, because most of the time it'll be 8 face damage for 8 mana and that's all, but 3 bodies 2/1 each out of nowhere are a force to be reckoned with, and with a topdecking hunter and thus a threat of 8 face for 2... he-he. This is definitely not OP, because of its price, but the art is kind of overused last competition so this averted me from upvoting this.
Confused Treant: Nice niche card, probably subpar if played as 2/3, since you drop two cards for the minion, but a funny little minion if played with draw. But a 2/3 might be a good play if you're topdecking, AND a 0/1 too since you get to use that mana on a second card. This generates subtle advantage if played correctly, and this one requires SKILL to play, therefore an upvote.
Dreaming Whelp: I believe this is a too strong card if played in a dragon deck, because you get a 4/4 for 3, but if they won't get dragons and/or get a better 3-drop, this will be played off curve, thus this requires some skill at deckbuilding for 3-drops. Probably OP anyway, but the concept is simple to grab and play forward.
Presence of Mind by modded: I'm pretty surprised that there are two finalists with the same card name and roughly same mechanics (draw first, discard later). This card would be pretty hard to code, because dependency for hand zone is not yet present in Hearthstone, but this is kind of a choose one for spells, and a "get random spell" for 1 mana and a card, something really new which I haven't seen here before. So an upvote for creativity in mechanics.
Grillok Darkeye: Solid, but forces self-milling, thus maybe hero power will make one's DOOOOOOOOOM, or, if there would be cards that synergize, this can be an archetype enabler. I don't like self-discards without anything gained in an instant, and I don't like Tracking for that very reason. Otherwise, a good example of balance and creative thinking.
Enraged Treant: A ramp reversal, and a reason to ramp higher. Simple and beautiful choose one concept. Although I've seen it elsewhere already, but this fits into the theme perfectly.
Adrenaline Rush: C-C-C-COMBO! Nuff said. Although this one is a real all-in card, so you either make lethal or end up in misery, I like the concept of pulling a combo out of one's sleeve.
Soul Jar: So, you're fighting with a glass can? Hilarious. Also this can nail you pretty hard should you discard a say Antique Healbot or another card with a strong battlecry. I think this is underpowered by a lot.
Mannoroth: The wording is unpolished, and this kid pretty much disables your hero power altogether, but drawing with Soulfire or Succubus is what makes this a combo-broken card.
Imp Lord Pinprik: 3/3 draw 3 imps and protect your hand. I don't know, but the overall imp-ression is "meh".
Bildros Nullvoid: A means to get a free Dreadsteed to your board for inspire, and a boost to them? And given that horsie costs 4, this kid is a definite OP, even as 4/3 like Mukla's Champion. And a 3/4 makes this buffer even better.
Gordunni Warlock: Probably balanced compared to Ogre Brute and Chilwind Yeti. Reviewed already and approved.
Kalecgos: Yo dawg, I've heard you like random, so I put random into your random... One good thing that by t9 you normally end up with either combo cards, or useless early drops that can be cleared off board by your opponent not wasting excess resources. So a discard for a bunch of spells on top of a 8/8 compares this to other big dragons over there. I like this implementation, although with the amount of non-mage spells that can make mage OP this borders OP as well. (Still, there are Totemic Mights also...)
Divine Knowledge: Hmm, an enabler for aggro priest. You play this when out of hand, and bam, you've got Nourish effect out of an opponent's deck. I still say pretty broken, I just like this being an ultimate version of Thoughtsteal.
Undead Menace: Pretty nice and looks balanced, compared to Resurrect on top of a 4/3, but this requires other parts of combo to not be underpowered. Currently, it won't launch IMHO.
Enslaved Demon: A Fist of Jaraxxus on legs. Should cost more, for 4 mana it's pretty OP, just play a Succubus t1 with coin and get 4/3 plus 4/4... and playing it directly on curve isn't as detrimental as well. (Making this card stronger would make many early cards with discard grow in power, so it's good that its maker stopped at 4/4.)
Jadefire Satyr: Good clarification on what should be discarded, but should you lose an Imp-losion, this big kid did you a drawback. Big risk, big rewards in one of the better forms IMHO.
Blood Moon: This should have a nice effect while your turn lasts... otherwise, OP because this eliminates drawback for those cards that perform discards (somewhat, but you have equal chances to get another Doomguard or a Mal'Ganis when discarding an Imp Gang Boss or a spare part, if you have one, and discarding a Mal'Ganis and get a Flame Imp).
Victory or Death: Hey, this makes your hero to retaliate vs anyone attacking it! Finally, a face that's not just a face. Balance issues aside, because nothing similar exists, this looks like a valid price to achieve this power... I'd still make this a legendary spell, since getting two of these running would make your hero to do 10 damage to everyone offending, that would be too OP. If, however, this attack value would be active only on your turns, this looks more balanced because you then can equip a weapon and run over giants with relative ease, at the cost of taking damage as always.
Presence of Mind by Lord_HS: Well, neat execution, but I am frustrated to see two identical cards in the poll to vote for both at once. And this indirectly buffs a Mana Wyrm maybe too much.
Mysterious Egg: Isn't a 4 mana minion too much for a discard? I say freaking OP, even given that this is a 0/4 minion that's vulnerable to many things and occupies a slot at your side.
Poisonmist Totem: Highly underpriced, the single opponent discard effect, even random, is estimated to be worth 4 mana (targetted discard worth 6), and this is guaranteed to proc at least once, and should the opponent get deprived of exact answer to this (say Frostbolt), this is a game won in an instant.
The Maelstrom: Hmm, quantity over quality and overall TL;DR detected.
Metamorphosis: This spells plain "Discarded cards are returned to your hand", and since the transformation is permanent, this is FREAKING OP, especially since the "on discard" triggers of say Fist of Jaraxxus will still proc. Then you get another free-for-use Fist, another Enslaved Demon, another Hand of Gul'dan and another future developed card that works on discard, AND not worry about losing your hand even from initial cast, because you first transform, then discard -> the cards get back in hand. NOOOOO!
Doubling Pod: Aha, play this with Warsong Commander and get double Frothing Berserker for your OTK, and 3 damage to somewhere. Or, just play this t3 and get two Dr. Booms, if your opponent wouldn't waste a silence. I say OP, not freaking OP but still OP.
Kil'Jaeden: Alone, looks fine, if you didn't discard anything, is underpowered, but it can be a freaking powerhouse should you discard 3+ cards this game. It has 1/7 chance per card to summon a legendary demon (Illidan Stormrage, Mal'Ganis or Lord Jaraxxus) and another 2/7 to summon something really strong (Fearsome Doomguard, Pit Lord, Dread Infernal, Floating Watcher since you'll probably tap next turn, Doomguard and Fel Guard, and a questionable Void Crusher), meaning you'll get one strong demon per 2 cards discarded on average. If this would have a chance to summon another Kil'Jaeden, these chances rise a little. And this does not exhaust your deck, which happens in case of Varian Wrynn, making this one stronger than him past 3rd discard in game. But man, THIS one seriously does not like to be betrayed! Okay, upvoting this as well.
There is a lot of steak here...
I appreciate it man but I'd rather not win this week, I already have the border and title. Of the likely winners I hope 1st place goes to either Rain of Arrows (for badass design) or to Doubling Pod (even if it is probably OP). I actually like my card for this week way more than last week so I almost wish I hadn't won before, just in case I get 1st this week.

Am I missing something? Why is Confused Treant doing so well?
If played early:
- Cycle the card for 1 mana and leave a 0/1 on the board which is almost always going to die before anything relevant happens to it
- Get the slight tempo of a 1 mana 2/3 but insane anti-value of losing a card
If played late:
- Draw a card, leave a 0/1 on the board which MIGHT get buffed on a following turn with Savage Roar or some other sub-par buff.
- Drop a 2/3 for 1 mana when your hand is empty (or maybe your hand isn't empty in which case it's worse).
So what am I missing? It seems super underwhelming to me in any of those 4 cases and those are the only ways I can imagine it getting any value at all. It's sad but I honestly see this thing's most useful aspect as a way to cycle through your deck by 1 card on turn 10 and if you draw into Force of Nature or Savage Roar, congratz. But is it worth a deck slot? What else could it be used for?
4/4 too op for tribe based deck?
Blackwing Technician 3/5 same mana, less drawback if no dragon
Dancing Swords same mana, same stats, drawback is par in terms of card advantage, ofc this drawback is harder to avoid (silence decks, mill decks)
Ogre Brute same mana, same stats, hard to evaluate the drawback but i would say it's +1point same as the conditional discard
Tinkertown Technician same mana, same stats + Spare Part (if you don't have mech on board it's 3/3 blank which is better than 4/4+discard) - the spare part is bonus for the card not being in the tribe himself arguebly.
My worries was i UNDERpowered my card, not OpieOP it... Look at other dragons, yeah they are strong if played in dragon deck, that's the point - filling deck based on tribe to get value instead of picking stronger standalones.
I feel like people say they want clear wording, but then when someone makes it unambiguous, it is too wordy and the text is too cramped and they don't even bother reading the card because of TL;DR. Concise with the meaning understood through implication is better card design IMO.

Exactly. I wish I would have used that last sentence hours ago, it might have ended the whole debate then. I realized that if you really wanted to, you could read my card 2 different ways. But why make the card text sound like crap just to get a point across that 99% of people understood anyway.

What is the frothing problem with reading through 50 cards? If you don't want to do it, just don't visit the thread. It's that easy.
first: if someone is new to this thread and just seen the 50 cards (12 column of cards), he will just close the window and go.
second: some people will just see the most voted cards and read them since they are 50 cards. (no balance for least voted cards in the start of the final)
third: some people will just see the first cards in the list and skip the others. (no balance for cards not in the start of the list)
fourth: reading 50 cards, assume each card takes one min to analyze and thinking of combos or just going back to vote for it, so this is 50mins to read the thread.
fifth: the topic will be soo long: 50 Cards in the poll and 50 cards with artwork in first post.
and i can give more reasons if these are not enough.
First time entering, and got into finals! Wowza! Lots of great cards! Congrats to everyone!
Show some Dark Shaman love!
Edit --- For some perspective, the idea of Poisonmist Totem ( an ability used by the Dark Shaman in SoO) is a corrupted version of Mana Tide Totem
http://hearthstone.gamepedia.com/Mana_Tide_Totem
3 mana, 0/3. Both give card advantage, but in different ways. Both are high target cards that if left alone can be detrimental to your opponent, and both guarantee at least 1 tick of their ability so as to not be useless (like WoW Totems, heyo!)
by the way, will we have #2 class design competition? i am looking forward to it. :-D
I love confused Treant and dreaming whelp;)

ANNOUNCEMENT:
Two finalists from this week have been disqualified and removed from the finalist table due to vote manipulation. One of these users was also a winner of a previous competition, and they have been stripped of their title and border. That also means we have a new week champion, the person who won second that week taking the crown instead:
