Let's start off by congratulating the top-voted finalists of our "Strength In Numbers" competition. Fantastic work! And we'll be reaching out to our winner to help us determine what's in store for you all next week.
This week's theme comes from ProjectHS, whose "Eye of Kilrogg" saw its way to winning our "Vanilla Extract" competition two weeks ago:
Entry Restrictions: Your card's text must include the word "discard". (Derivatives such as "discards", "discarded", "discarding", and so on are acceptable.)
Existing Exmaples: Astral Communion, Deathwing, Tracking. I listed those first to remind you that not all cards that discard are or need to be Warlock cards, though there are plenty of those too: Dark Bargain, Doomguard, Soulfire, Succubus. Fist of Jaraxxus and Tiny Knight of Evil also count! Your card does not have to actually discard anything as long as it still does something having to do with the discard mechanic. We were originally going to include Fel Reaver as an example, but it actually does NOT work because it "removes" cards rather than discarding them. It doesn't even activate Fist of Jaraxxus. For this reason, we're going to disallow cards that "discard" from the deck, as that wording would be plainly inconsistent with the game. (NOTE: It appears that the mouse-over image of Fel Reaver that we have here is wrong, probably taken from an earlier patch and never updated.)
Competition Rules
We, the Fan Creation Forum Moderators, may edit and/or disqualify your entry if you neglect the competition's rules, so please read carefully. These measures are designed to ensure everyone has a fair and enjoyable experience during the contests!
You are allowed to submit one (1) entry per competition. Your entry must be a card of your own creation. You may add minimal comments to explain your card's design, balance, and/or qualities. You may not significantly alter your card once it has been submitted. (Although minor tweaks, such as to adjust balance or correct spelling errors, are acceptable.) You may not delete your submission post. Manipulating votes in any way is strictly forbidden. Any violators will receive a warning and a possible ban / disqualification from future contests. Any discussion of entries, ideas, and so on should take place in this week's designated Discussion Topic. This is the Submission Topic, and it is for submission posts and up-voting only. Recent New Rule - So called "troll entries" can be submitted but will not be able to advance to the final. Fun entries are OK, but outright, unbalanced parodies are not. If you're unsure, check with a moderator before submitting. Recent New Rule -You MUST upload your submission to a site that stores images, for example Imgur.com, Photobucket.com etc. This is for your own good as Hearthcards only keeps your image for a limited time and sometimes has problems resulting in lost images.
Competition Process
Entry Phase and Early Voting (Starts 20:00 UTC 24/September/2015, Ends 18:00 UTC 29/September/2015) It is during this Phase that you may submit entries to the Submission Topic. You may also, of course, feel free to give early up-votes to any submissions that you like!
Voting Phase (Starts 18:00 UTC 29/September/2015, Ends 18:00 UTC 30/September/2015) During this Phase, the Submission Topic will be locked, so no more entries may be submitted. Instead, use this time to browse the submissions and up-vote your favorites!
Final Phase (Starts 19:00 UTC 30/September/2015, Ends 19:00 UTC 1/October/2015) During this Phase, the Discussion Topic will also be locked, and a new Poll Topic will go up. Discussion will be allowed to continue in the Poll Topic, and it will also include all the qualifying finalists and a 24-hour poll to decide the winner of the competition!
How do we determine the qualifying finalists? First, we'll take the highest-voted entry on each page of the submission topic. Then, we'll fill in the rest using the formula detailed here...
(ab) / (c) = x
Where, a = The total number of submissions on the same page as the submission. b = The total number of up-votes that the submission received. c = The total number of up-votes on the same page as the submission. x = The submission's final score.
The formula basically measures which cards stood out the most, with the necessary assumption that each page is about equal in overall submission quality. The bottom line is that, although entries on the earlier pages of the Submission Topic are much more visible and thus receive many more up-votes than entries on later pages, you don't actually have to rush to get your entry in as soon as possible because the up-votes end up being weighted by what page your entry ends up on in order to determine its final score. It will be the ~15-25 entries that receive the highest final scores (depending on the popularity of this week's competition) that move on to the Final Phase.
But wait, there's more! During each Weekly Card Design Competition, each Fan Creation Forum moderators will be given a Wild Card, which they can use to advance any one entry that they feel was initially overlooked or under-appreciated to the Final Phase, regardless of its final score. Wild Cards are our way of spicing things up a bit, but please don't ask to be given one or be upset if you aren't given one. These are just supposed to be fun. (Also, it should go without saying that, while we moderators are allowed to participate in the competitions, we are not allowed to benefit from Wild Cards.)
Rewards
To encourage your competitive spirit, we do of course offer a few rewards to competition winners: Their card forever immortalized in our Winners' Gallery! The power to choose the theme for a future competition! A unique Avatar Border & "Card Design Champion" Title, as depicted below!
Guess warlocks need a turn 7 thing, it would be an awesome spell combo with Fist of Jaraxxus overall and since Doomguard is a 5/7 charge demon for 5 that discards 2 cards, I find this card to be balanced and would be used either in handlock or in zoolock as a brutal finisher/removal
A third Ancient, just combined the effects of the other two.
EDIT: Someone just pointed out to me that this is just ancient of war, but terrible. I can't delete, according to the rules, so this will just screw around here for a little
EDIT: Someone just pointed out I can change the card's stats. So I have changed the card's stats. (Aren't I so eloquent?)
Note that you're not discarding a card randomly - you get to choose which card you discard, but unlike Doomguard and Succubus, you do need to have a card to play it. Has synergy with Fist of Jaraxxus and amazing synergy with Molten Giant if you draw it early on (not so much later since if the card's cost has been reduced this card deals the reduced damage).
If it's not against the rules, I'm gonna resubmit my last entry from last weeks contest since it also fits into this week's theme. Kind of like Fist of Jaraxxus but also similar to Avenging Wrath except favors aggressive situations, ie: aggro Zoolock or defensive Handlock vs aggro
Hey, it's kind of like a warlock Water Elemental. This way, discarding cards still drains your hand size, but losing vital cards is no longer a possibility. The discard deck doesn't work because warlock has many key cards that it relies on, like Mal'Ganis or Lord Jaraxxus, and probably aDoomguard if you're running a discard deck. This way, you can start to discard your cards tun 5 and not completely destroy your game plan. If you do happen to discard Mal'Ganis, then it's ok and you can just draw him later; HOWEVER Mal'Ganis is still revealed to the opponent, so they could keep a Big Game Hunter for example.
This is the Submission Topic. The Discussion Topic is here.

mfw his Yogg steals my win
What discard Warlock truly needs:
Play: "Releeease me!"
Attack: "You will burn!"
Death: "Freeeeeee...."
Flavor: "He hates parties. He always gets dragged along."
A third Ancient, just combined the effects of the other two.

Krazzdar makes everyone join the insanity by making your opponent discard when you discard
How do I get the image to work?

This card:
Added with some more discard mechanics, and it would become a staple in any kind of discard warlock deck.
It is a battlecry, so it's effect persists even when the minion dies.

Check out my Monk concept (inspired by Amaz's Monk but retweaked hero power):

There are Demons for 1-7 and 9, so if you discard 0, 8, 10, 12 or 20 mana card, he will not summon anything
Seems very good card with all effects putting dicarded cards back and also decent with Tiny Knight of Evil
Hey, it's kind of like a warlock Water Elemental. This way, discarding cards still drains your hand size, but losing vital cards is no longer a possibility. Edit: Just re-read the rules, changed the wording a bit.
Hey guys! First time contributing here
It can be any minion, it's not limited to mechs, so you could get your own pocket Ragnaros! If you had 8 spare parts to... spare.
EDIT: added the word "random" as it was missing from the card text. You assume is always random, but still a typo.
