Hello everybody! This topic is for discussion of Week #32 of our Weekly Card Design Competition. One of the awesome things about this competition is that it gets us all talking about what makes a card balanced, fun, realistic, interesting, unique, innovative, exciting, and more. However, to make sure that everything runs smoothly, we need to reserve the Submission Topic for submissions only. Everything else goes here. What is everything else, you might ask?
Rules or Process. Do you have a question about the competition's process? Do you need clarification about one of this week's entry requirements? Are you not sure whether your entry adhered to the rules? Ask here!
Feedback or Ideas. Do you have some ideas you'd like to run by others before settling on one? Do you need help balancing or wording your card? Do you need help finding art that will fit your card? Or do you just want feedback from the community on your entry? You're in the right place! Remember, although you are allowed to make minor tweaks to your entry after you've submitted it, you're only allowed one submission per week, so make sure that you've settled on your card for sure beforehand.
Discussion! Do you have thoughts on other people's cards? Are there directions you don't like that you're seeing too many people take? Or directions you'd like to see more people take? Would you like to help others and contribute to a greater community understanding of Hearthstone card design and balance? This is where you want to be!

Please refrain from the following...
Advertising Your Card. This is a new rule during Season 2. Please don't pop in here just to advertise your card only to never be heard from again. This includes only asking short, generic, or insincere questions like "Thoughts?" or "Do you think this is balanced?". Yes, getting feedback on your card is one of the purposes of this topic, but we're not just here for other people to help you. We're here for you all to help each other. 12 hours after this competition begins, there should be plenty of other posts here for you to give specific feedback or for you to comment on a trend. If you post your card for feedback after this time and do not also offer some form of substantial commentary, critique, or praise of others' work, you may find your post deleted.
Plagiarism. Many people post their ideas here before finalizing them in the submission topic. Directly plagiarizing those ideas to post in the submission topic yourself is absolutely not acceptable.
So, without further ado, have fun and get creating!
I never played WoW at all, so I just sort of found one of the first creatures I could find on the database. Anyway, is this balanced? I think the effect is rather large so I decided that Mage specificity and -1/-2 in stats should suffice:
@pomonkeypoI guess it's pretty balanced. The deck you'd put this in is Tempo or Mech mage, both of wich will have their gameplans hugely hurt by needing to throw a 5 4/4 drop on curve. It can and will recover tempo lead if played on the late game or to stop an opponent's weapon. It's not as good as it seems since the decks that would use that card usually have board control through the whole game, but it has intersting and niche uses, specially against the so-predominant Patron deck.
All-in-all good design, I think it is balanced and could see constructed play, but it's more a niche card than a "holy crap staple" like Antonidas.
@pomonkeypo: would it be better if the text would be "Whenever an enemy character is damaged, freeze it."? That means ping = freeze, but there might be problems with the armor, just like pre-fixed Water Elemental
Sorry, but I've got lots of events going through the life's highway right now, so I won't have that much time to post reviews and things as such, for now, sorry!
@Firebolts how about a faction whelp? That was my idea at first, but I couldn't find any clear pictures, Emerald Whelpling would be nice, something that'd give dream cards upon being played/death, just an idea

Thanks, that is exactly the balance spot that I go for when I make these cards. We should try to avoid making Dr. Booms but also not make Hemet Nesingwarys.
People are exploding the first page with very good design this week. Good job to everyone.
Shoutouts to The Husk by @AntonydusWurm, loved the mechanic, synergizes very well with rogue AoE removal and the text could also be used in any tempo-oriented class.
Also, for those of you who don't know, Gyth (by @randomaniac95) is Rend Blackhand's mount, hence why the interaction.

Ur right, but i have to say, your card is so broken i wish there was a down vote button lol man ... this card is SOOOOOOOOOOO unfair i cant even begin ... better then alexstrazsa that gets your opponent to 15, u can get him to any nubmer and kill him right there. Just drop low, play your moltens taunt em, and drop your opponent from 30>10 hp gg and thats just one scenario ... i rly dont like the ability u gave to Hakkar, sorry.

Playing around Handlock includes not dropping him bellow 15~18 because of the Molten Giants threats untill you can burst him down. Playing around Hakkar would also be a thing, and if done correctly it wouldn't be much better than an Alextrasza. If the rules allowed to, I'd probably make it a 7 mana 3/7 though, but it won't be played early anyway, except against aggro. It's mostly an aggro counterplay and shouldn't worry midrange/control players who know what they are doing that much.
One of the things this particular competition should encourage neutral minions... Well, because it's vanilla! I mean, sure it can be a class minion, but think about all the basic neutrals like River Crocolisk, Bloodfen Raptor, Oasis Snapjaw!
Well, here's what I'm thinking: Ironjaw Basilisk.
It effectively removes a board threat, but will probably die to anything. Compare to Ironbeak Owl really.
The flavor for the effect is that Basilisks have a strange ability to petrify their enemies, which makes them an object of study for mages and alchemists - the closest I could get to that seemed to be give a minion "Can't attack'.
I kinda need help with the wording/text on this one:
Some feedback for ideas in this thread:
@pomonkeypo - not a fan of the character nor the effect. It doesn't seem to fit the mage well, I can imagine it being ok in tempo, but I just don't find it very likeable. It seems balanced I suppose.
@ser_wa - very underwhelming, considering it only ever buffs the first card you play. Useful in very niche situations but definitely not a card rogue needs.
@firebolts - the warlock one doesn't seem to show properly, but if it's the same stats and effect as the hunter one, it certainly fits very well in there. I kinda like this one even. In hunter it seems a bit too much though.
@teknician - even with gimped stats like that, not a fan of adding the can't attack effect to things. That aside, it's stats aren't even THAT bad. I think it needs to be significantly weaker on it's own, considering it completely shuts down high impact minions with a few exceptions also related to class specific combinations.
@DonnieMcKarlo It's an interesting design, but underpowered and unclear. Does the battlecry mean you have to destroy Weldon on the same turn? Or does it mean that if you destroy Weldon while Alexi is alive you get 3 coins? If it's the latter, that's hard to accomplish because you basically have to dedicate 4 damage from something in order to get 3 coins off of a 3/4 minion. Which is kind of bad, I guess... I'm not sure, it's a weird effect. It has potential though, perhaps if Weldon was a 4/3 or something.
Also, did you mean @firebolts? Because mine is a neutral card. EDIT: Nevermind you fixed that bit. Thanks for the comment, perhaps a 4/1? It's more the theme that I'm going for.
@teknician - yes, I did mean firebolts, I also immediately checked and corrected my thoughts, you can see them there.
In regards to the card - the battlecry just gives your opponent the 3/4. The 2nd line of text is independant of that, but note, that weldon himself does not have a deathrattle, so yes, that means you have to somehow kill weldon, while still having alexi on board for the benefit, it doesn't have to be on the same turn though. Now that you bring it up, it does seem a little underpowered, but I mean, then there's classes like warrior or paladin, who have weapons, which you can preequip on turn 4/3 and then play alexi into those and get 3 coins for a weapon charge. That does seem pretty strong, the second alternative are zooey decks, that establish board early and can deal with a 3/4 relatively easily (though you would probably not play this card in this scenario).
Well, it definately needs some improvement and looking forward to more feedback, I guess.
Edit: Well, I like the design on it, especially the art. 4/1 seems reasonable to me, but then again, I AM extremely overvaluing this kind of effect.

I'm... really confused on what to do here.
There really aren't any NPC's in WOW classic that are not 'legendary' and still interesting.
Need to maul this one over for the night.
Give a man a Murloc, and he'll eat for a day.
Give him a Murloc Knight, and people will hate him.

I assume the rules do not count Warcraft 3 inspired cards, which is unfortunate :/

Ok, so I finally found opportunity to use this artwork,
Although now I ask to myself: What class would this minion fit better?
You decide!

Also, what are your thoughts on the concept itself?
