Hello folks! One of our participants that's not too familiar with WoW is having a bit of trouble, and since I'm not extraordinarily we--versed in Warcraft lore myself, I was thinking maybe the good folks here in the discussion topic could help out. Here were the first two versions of their submission:
Now, Sunstrider was only introduced into WoW for Burning Crusades, sothat was not allowed. Aegwynn, while mentioned in WoW lore, has never actually appeared as a character in the games at all as far as I can tell. Does anybody think they can give LucasPassado a hand? =)

He could take the idea for the Aegwynn card and change it to Arcanist Doan. Not so sure if the spell return effect matches up, but he *did* have an immune shield in his boss fight!
Also, <3 the original Scarlet Crusade (except for maybe the Graveyard bosses, those guys kinda sucked..)
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Q: What did Avril Lavigne say when her Asian masseuse refused to give sexual favors?
@ Tech: I think it's a cool idea, and super art, but The Cleaner seems op to me. That ability is strong on its own, but on an immune minion it's incredible. I know theirs a set up, but that's very feasible in a control deck with hellfire + etc. Just Immune, (but there's no minion with immune yet so it's hard to say how that would fare) maybe? Putting the Cleaner in your hand would slow it enough, increasing it's cost to 12 effectively.
@Nurgling: It's nice with a good flavour, but that ability is too strong for an above vanilla stat-line, imo (5=5/). Take bolf (12 stats) as a comparison at cost 6, i'd play Korrack easily at cost 6. at 5 he's mega.
@Mario: Imho, I really think that global silence is slightly un-fun and only one class has it for that reason. Even then, priest needs to dedicate a card to it. Your card makes global silence a ''too easy to include'' card because of its flexibility, which I don't like too much. Does he use silence in the lore aspect? If so, I think you should go a different route than this version of a silence effect. Maybe silencing cards in your opponent's hand for a turn, or something ... or, ''minions are silenced'' as the text so that when he's removed, the effect disappears (that's also pretty powerful though :/) ? but just not the global shut down, for me.

Korrak also has a huge downside, though, in that your minions and hero can't attack and you can't cast any control spells, because they all would have to target Korrak.
I think you should include the class dependence in the card. Perhaps by wording it slightly differently, or adding a (dependant on class) to the end in brackets. Just to add a little bit of clarity.
Thanks, good suggestion!... I was wondering about putting Italics into the text on Hearthcards.net... I've tried but it's reverted to regular text, do you know is it possible somehow? (ala Nefarian, say) Btw, is the card interesting, I kinda feel it's a bit boring.

Do you think this is a more balanced Simone?
Probably almost Dr. Boom level but a bit better, you do end up paying 12 mana though.

I didn't imagine that you'd attack him with minions or weapons as it's fundamentally impossible, but then again it's totally workable and pretty cool!! (funnily enough, he'd have to target himself too by this rule Oo, needs ''other'') That said, is that such a huge downside as your enemy would be forced to remove him or you've or you've still got yr 6/6 on the board. Taunts slow him, and the game could be stalled, but his upsides are far more impactfull when he's on board. On saying all that ... I wonder does it really matter if he's above vanilla as, for all know, KORRAK MUST DIE!!. you're right with 6/6 as anything else is losing character. GL!!

That's what I suggested. It's a difficult one know but I think he's balanced :D... interesting while being a pretty clunky. but I kinda enjoy the clunky aspect :D like, 4 part sequence to the end result is unique (Cast-damage-damage-cast), I really like the fact that he's so costly. Is he worth 12 + mana? Well, if he's not plain countered, he wins the game with a taunt, so in Handlock, he's worth the 12+. I really prefer cards that create strange and complex plays but it's not everyone's cuppa, so the big questions are: do you like him, and will he get votes?

Honestly I don't mind if I don't get votes, I just enjoyed making the card and the process for it.
One thing is that you can't give Immune creatures Taunt (it's like Stealth + Immune) so you can really only play this combo if you're already winning I guess.

Good point, it does need to say 'other' there. There is a precedent right now in attacking friendly characters albeit only through misdirection. I also intended that taunt would be ignored while he was on the board, as everything has to attack him.

Well it works, it's just it doesn't count as proper taunt for your opponent - they can attack past immune minions.
Here goes my 'My-Own-Page-Only' reviews for this week, this time for Page 4. I don't think I've ever seen this many disqualified entries on a single page before, and in a row no less.
Since names this week are based on NPCs in WoW, there's no point in rating them since the point isn't to be creative in that regard, and as such my opinion of it doesn't really matter one way or the other.

[REVIEW KEYWORDS] AGGRO: This card seems to cater to aggro decks, which is generally not the kind of thing I want to see. BANISHED: This card either does not meet the requirements for card creation, or "breaks the mold" in some way. INANIMATE: This minion is an inanimate object, which I typically do not like. LEMON: This card was unnecessarily submitted as a gold version, most likely to draw undue attention. MEH: Although there's nothing necessarily wrong with this card, it doesn't enthuse me very much. OMNI-RNG: This card's random effect has a very broad scope in some way, which I don't like. STEALER: This card takes control of an enemy minion, which I do not like. TL;DR: This card has too much text, which I do not like. Note: This is not to be taken literally; I do read it. UPVOTE!: I upvoted this submission. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
[SCORE SYSTEM] AUTHENTICITY: How realistic and believable I think the card feels (as a hypothetical REAL Hearthstone card). ARTWORK: How good I think the artwork is (art style, fidelity, cropping/positioning, etc.). EFFECT: How creative and/or interesting the effect is, as well as how simple and concise it is. NAME: How good I think the name of the card is, particularly in relation to the theme. THEME: How coherent and intuitive I think the theme is, regardless of creativity or scope.
I rate the aforementioned aspects of a card as follows:
5/5 - Fantastic 4/5 - Great 3/5 - Good 2/5 - Okay 1/5 - Poor 0/5 - Terrible
KEYWORDS: TL;DR THOUGHTS: Well themed with her mechanics in WoW, though a little text heavy in my eyes. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

KEYWORDS: - THOUGHTS: Seems solid, especially when your opponent only has one minion out. I could see this fit into a lot of different decks. Theme doesn't really fit the character's abilities in WoW (although to be fair neither does Sap), and the art doesn't fit that well, since Lord Vyletongue is blue. I get that Blizzard re-purposes art all the time and related-ly did this with Fist of Jaraxxus, but I'm just not okay with it. Still, for what it is it looks legit, even if I personally don't like the art. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
COMMENTARY: What a tough restriction this week, tough because although it's obviously not hard to find an NPC to make a card about, finding good and/or matching art for them can be a problem, unless you go for something obvious like a popular raid boss. In this case, I found the art first and worked from there. Plagued Deathhound narrowly made it work, since it's one of the only two NPCs from vanilla WoW that used the skin that matches the card art (the other being Spike, the critter from Arathi Basin).
Effect wise, once again I decided to go for something simple. I like simplicity, and I feel that people often think too 'big' for a game like Hearthstone. What we have here is a simple beast that fits snugly in-between Oasis Snapjaw and Chillwind Yeti, making it a decent pick in arena (especially for hunters). Maybe it's not all that creative, 'challenging', or exciting, but it is an intentionally simple design and I'm really happy with how this one turned out (even happier to see people voting for it). It looks totally real IMO, and that's probably the thing I value most in these competitions.
As a side note, the identical stats and cost with the previous entry is purely a coincidence. Funnily enough, Plagued Deathhound had a 'knockback' ability that I initially considered turning into a Sap effect. Weird. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

KEYWORDS: TL;DR THOUGHTS: The secondary effect has to be Weldon's Deathrattle, or else it doesn't work. That would also solve my personal issue with Alexi being TL;DR, and would significantly improve the authenticity factor. Hell, I might even upvote it then. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
KEYWORDS: - THOUGHTS: This is a hard one for me to evaluate, since I don't really get the idea here. Valstann is dead, and in fact died before WoW. For Fandral to have an effect that summons him in what looks to be a living form, that would suggest this is a pre-WoW version of Fandral, which means it technically does and doesn't meet the requirements simultaneously. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
KEYWORDS: UPVOTE! THOUGHTS: Though it may seem more comparable to Scarlet Crusader and Wolfrider, I think it's better to compare it to Stampeding Kodo. You lose 4 health, but you also pay 2 less mana and get to choose the target. I suppose that's reasonable balance, but maybe I'm just biased against aggro. Although I never knew Defias Pillager was so notorious, apparently it was, and so the theme is actually really good. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Olgra
KEYWORDS: BANISHED* THOUGHTS: Just a joke card really, but at any rate, 'Olgra' was never an NPC in vanilla WoW. The NPC representing Mankrik's wife was 'Beaten Corpse', and her real name only became known when a monument to her was added in Cataclysm. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
KEYWORDS: BANISHED (This is not an NPC from Vanilla WoW.) THOUGHTS: Second Lothar I've seen, which is a bit of a headscratcher. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
KEYWORDS: - THOUGHTS: Not a good looker, and not really all that thematic to the character specifically. I would also argue that it's underpowered, since it can affect enemy minions. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
KEYWORDS: - THOUGHTS: Overall, it's just not a very mechanically attractive concept IMO. These two were linked together in WoW, so a Deathrattle doesn't make sense. Ruuzlu's effect is also not worded properly.
Okay, my thoughts for this week: Loramus Thalipedes, ye friendly neighborhood demon hunter found in Azshara in Vanilla and Blasted Lands in Cataclysm.
The flavor is that after his defeat in Vanilla, he was resurected in Cata. It fits warlocks since Blizzard seems to be pushing for synergy with discards. The idea is that he will only return if you discard two cards. If you don't have enough cards in your hand, he doesn't return.
Summon: Come, and know demise!
Attack: Time runs short!
Effect: I have returned from beyond the grave to destroy you!
Really? So if I used defender of argus beside him he'd be unaffected? :O I'm going to check this with the Stablemaster! :D
Well it works, it's just it doesn't count as proper taunt for your opponent - they can attack past immune minions.
Well, I didn't get to test as my comp decided to pack it in for a bit... but I wouldn't have been able to test that anyway. Apologies for investigating even more but I can't figure out how you tested that scenario :D, could you please clarify?
They were in Duskwood. I still remember when I was there first time, a Lv 35 elite abomination killed everyone.
Since the topic this week is about vanilla, I also design a minion with quite vanilla stats and vanilla ability. But this card may be more useful in the future.

Mechanically, Immune 'hides' Taunt like Stealth does, because otherwise it would be impossible for the opponent to bypass the Immune minion (unless they specifically had an AoE Silence like Mass Dispel). The minion will have Taunt if Immune and/or Stealth goes away, unless the minion was Silenced as aforementioned.

THOUGHTS: The secondary effect has to be Weldon's Deathrattle, or else it doesn't work. That would also solve my personal issue with Alexi being TL;DR, and would significantly improve the authenticity factor. Hell, I might even upvote it then.

THOUGHTS: This is a hard one for me to evaluate, since I don't really get the idea here. Valstann is dead, and in fact died before WoW. For Fandral to have an effect that summons him in what looks to be a living form, that would suggest this is a pre-WoW version of Fandral, which means it technically does and doesn't meet the requirements simultaneously.

OlgraKEYWORDS: BANISHED*
THOUGHTS: Just a joke card really, but at any rate, 'Olgra' was never an NPC in vanilla WoW. The NPC representing Mankrik's wife was 'Beaten Corpse', and her real name only became known when a monument to her was added in Cataclysm.

THOUGHTS: Not a good looker, and not really all that thematic to the character specifically. I would also argue that it's underpowered, since it can affect enemy minions.

THOUGHTS: Overall, it's just not a very mechanically attractive concept IMO.

The Coin
Mechanically, Immune 'hides' Taunt like Stealth does, because otherwise it would be impossible for the opponent to bypass the Immune minion (unless they specifically had an AoE Silence like Mass Dispel). The minion will have Taunt if Immune and/or Stealth goes away, unless the minion was Silenced as aforementioned.
Seems pretty balanced, I'd definitely go with it.
I really liked the card too, sounds op, but it's not, after all, you discard 2 cards.
Maybe... nah nah nah nah
