In the Depths of the Deadmines, players will be hired by Matthias Shaw of Stormwind's SI:7 to investigate and dismantle the headquarters of the Defias. When the Defias aided in rebuilding Stormwind, the disguised dragon Onyxia manipulated the nobles into denying the Defias pay. In return Edwin VanCleef and his followers struck out to right their wrongs, and in doing so, have fallen far from grace. It is up to you to enter the Deadmines and put a stop to their plans, whatever they may be, before they may come to fruition. After all, that which creates can also destroy...
When players select Depths of the Deadmines, they are immediately greeted by none other than Matthias Shaw.
Wing One: The Outer Mines
Boss One: Rhahk'Zor
An ogre as his Foreman? Well, nobody's going to argue with him...
With this nasty hero power, you're either going to need silences or a lot of spells before your board is filled with useless minions. Combined with Rhahk'Zor's other abilities, such as a tremendous amount of the Defias Digger and Taskmaster cards you get from this wing, and his Warrior spells such as Bash and Mortal Strike, you're going to get hit hard the moment you step inside the Deadmines. Also, he has his own unique card:
Dialogue
Begin: VanCleef pay big for your head!
First time he uses his Hero Power: Me smash!
First time he plays a Defias Cutthroat: Get them!
Emote Response: Pay REALLY big for your head!
Defeated: Me not understand.
Reward
Work work!
For defeating Rhahk'Zor, players earn 2 Defias Digger cards.
Heroic Rhahk'Zor Changes
With his upgraded hero power that costs zero, Rhahk'Zor's going to be hitting very hard. And if you try to play Alexstrasza at any point within Heroic Deadmines, well... she just doesn't show up, saying:
Also, don't think about Sideshow Spelleater either. It doesn't work in either Heroic or Normal.
To make matters worse, Rhahk'Zor doesn't start off alone. He begins the game with two of his special card already active:
Boss Two: Sneed
Who could it be?
So if he uses this on, a 3/2, it will then do 3 damage to a random enemy. If this 3 damage hits a 1/1, then the remaining 2 damage bounces, and so on. Unsurprisingly, Sneed has a lot of Piloted Shredders and Piloted Sky Golems, as well as Bouncing Blade. Plus his own card:
Think of it as Arcane Missiles that deal 3 damage a hit, but each time it kills it sends out another missile.
But it's trickier than just that. Once you destroy Sneed's Shredder, out pops:
Finish off Sneed quickly to claim victory!
Dialogue
Begin: Revenge on Stormwind? HAVE I GOT A DEAL FOR YOU!
First time he uses Chop Chop!: Beware of my machine!
Emote Response: Hello there! HA!
Sneed's Shredder defeated: Eject! EJECT!
Defeated: Where's the... eject soul... button?
Reward
Back to work! Back to work! Back to work! - Conversation between Defias Taskmaster and Cruel Taskmaster.
For defeating Sneed and his Shredder, players earn 2 Defias Taskmaster cards.
Heroic Sneed Changes
Predictably, Sneed's Shredder is tougher, and his Hero Power is, in most cases, always going to bounce quite a few times. It can bounce to your hero too, so if you aren't careful you can easily take 7-8 damage to the face on turn 2, and afterwards.
Sneed's stronger too, and not only does his Hero Power deal more damage if you have no weapon, but it's FREE.
Boss Three: Gilnid
Gilnid is Edwin VanCleef's master of weaponry and armor.
Yes, that is ANY collectible weapon. He won't spam it, but if he runs out of weapon, or decides you have a better one he'll try again, while sending out Harvest Golems, Defias Diggers, and all sorts of fire spells to try and burst you down. Such as his own special one:
Dialogue
Begin: There can be no interruptions!
First time he uses his Hero Power: Try this on for size!
First time he uses Molten Metal: You look a bit stiff. Let me help!
Emote Response: I don't get paid enough for this!
Defeated: Guards! Guards...
Reward
Fireballs are SO last season.
For defeating Gilnid, players earn 2 Defias Envoker cards.
Heroic Gilnid Changes
The weapon he gives to you would be:
Furthermore, Gilnid's special spell now REALLY cripples minions:
Wing Reward
Mine!
For clearing the Outer Mines, players earn one Gilnid.
Class Challenges
There are two Class Challenges in the Outer Mines. First, Warriors go against Rhahk'Zor for two of the card:
Hot potato hot potato!
After that, Warlocks challenge Gilnid for 2 copies of Incinerate.
This just in, fire still hot and can burn things.
Well, hope you've all enjoyed the first wing of my Deadmines adventure. As always, please do leave a reply on the bosses, dialogue, and cards. See you all next time for the second wing of the Deadmines.
Oooh, this is cool.Nice to see the origin of Sneed's Old Shredder(I didn't actually know where it was from).
I like the Alexstrasza dialogue, very funny xD
I also quite like all the cards, especially Defias Envoker hihihi(It's....the effect! It's so unbeliavably amazing i can't divert my eyes from the card!...ok,i'll stop now...)
Edit:The more i look at my joke, the dumber it looks, why the flying fruity duck would i make a joke like that? o.O
Mr. Smite starts the encounter with his pals. Two of:
In addition, Mr. Smite comes equipped with the weapon:
Mr. Smite relies on weapon synergy. Dread Corsair, Bloodsail Raider, and Southsea Deckhand. If Mr. Smite reaches 20 Health before this weapon runs out of durability, he'll destroy it himself. Either way, when the Thief's Blade is destroyed he replaces it with:
If he reaches 10 Health before this expires, he destroys it. When this weapon expires, he equips his final weapon:
Dialogue
Begin: Looks like I'm doing this myself!
Emote Response: Pah!
Mr. Smite loses his first weapon: You landlubbers are tougher than I thought! I'll have to improvise!
Mr Smite loses his second weapon: Dah! Now you're making me angry!
Defeated: Rr... rr... ah...
Reward
You know the saying 'what's mine is yours'? Reverse that.
For defeating Mr. Smite, players earn 2 Defias Thug cards.
Heroic Mr. Smite Changes
Mr. Smite comes with extra Health.
The 2 minions he starts with are no longer 2/2 Stealth.
And of course, his weapon got a LOT meaner. Say hello to Mr. Smite's Ashbringer. which is forcefully switched at 30 Health.
His reavers hit harder, but luckily they run out quicker too.
And then, forcefully at 15 Health, comes his Hammer.
Boss Two: Captain Greenskin
It's not easy being green.
That's it. Just straight up destroy a minion. Every turn for 2 mana.
Oh and like Mr. Smite, Captain Greenskin comes with a weapon.
And unlike Mr. Smite, he has more copies of his weapon in his deck. Like Mr. Smite, he has pirates that synergize well with weapons, but unlike Mr. Smite he also runs Upgrade! as well as his own version of it:
Dialogue
Begin: Ya not be takin' my ship without a fight!
Emote Response: Ya made a big mistake, scurvy dog!
First time he plays Enhance or Upgrade!: Sharper than ever!
Defeated: Boss! Boss, there's an...
Reward
Time is money! If you're wasting time, YOU'RE WASTING MONEY!
For defeating Captain Greenskin, players earn 2 Goblin Overseer cards.
Heroic Captain Greenskin Changes
If 2 mana destroy a minion wasn't broken enough, how about 0 mana destroy a minion?
Also remember how on Heroic Mr. Smite starts with an Ashbringer? Guess who he learned that from! Greenskin starts with:
In addition, his Enhance card improves from +1/+1 to:
Boss Three: Edwin VanCleef
+ 10 Armor
Always tip your service. Otherwise VanCleef happens.
That's right, Edwin VanCleef's hero power is what his card battlecry is.
VanCleef plays a form of Tempo Rogue. He puts the pedal to the metal and doesn't let up, drowning you with Defias and refilling with Sprint if he needs to. Oh, also:
This can deal up to 16 damage, for 4 mana. Careful with that Onyxia.
Once you break Edwin's armor, at the start of his turn a random 'Defias' card - collectible or not collectible - leaps onto his board.
Dialogue
Begin: None may challenge the Brotherhood!
Emote Response: You think I'm afraid of you?!
First time he plays Lapdogs, All of You: Lapdogs, all of you!
First time Edwin kills a minion: And stay down!
Edwin's armor breaks: The Brotherhood shall prevail!
Defeated: The... Brotherhood...
Reward
Murder. Theft. What's piracy added to the charges?
For defeating Edwin VanCleef, players earn 2 Defias Pirate cards.
Heroic Edwin VanCleef Changes
+ 30 Armor
Edwin gains a bit more Attack per card, and to make matters worse, he starts with an extra The Coin in his hand.
Just as on Normal, once Edwin's armor is broken Defias begin to rush in to defend him. As for Lapdogs, All of You, it got... replaced.
Which gives:
Dialogue
First time he plays Lapdogs, For All of You!: Lapdogs, for all of you!
Wing Reward
Okay technically the Defias aren't pirates but let's face it, they were well on their way.
For clearing the Defias Gunship, players earn one... Defias Gunship.
Class Challenges
Paladins challenge Mr. Smite himself for two copies of the card:
I AM THE LAAAW!
Hunters go against Captain Greenskin to secure 2:
Go for the eyes!
Well, hope you've all enjoyed the second wing of my Deadmines adventure. This concludes the Deadmines as it was from Vanilla to WoTLK. As always, please do leave a reply on the bosses, dialogue, and cards. See you all next time for the third wing of the Deadmines.
@trivorowo Probably. Mr. Smite I wanted to be a big beefy guy, worthy of the name. His health on Heroic is equal to Heroic Nefarian, but still less than Heroic Baron Geddon's 100 or Heroic Ragnaros's combined total of 105. On normal though yeah, 60 is probably a bit much. But again, he's Mr. Smite.
You've also got to consider what kind of abilities he has, and if that justifies his health. Loatheb has 99 on heroic so that's a good comparison, you just have to think how quickly he could kill you.
I really like this, it takes me right back to the Deadmines, my first proper instance. :) Have you tried finding artwork instead of using screenshots?

yeah Mr.smite did have way too much health.
his normal health amount is nearly that of loatheb's,and loatheb didn't have SUPER OP WEAPONS WITH A HERO POWER THAT MADE IT SO THAT YOU CANT DESTROY IT.and on heroic mode.
@Teknician I have. Problem is there's not much Defias artwork that I can find. I go along a strict principle of 'Can I find artwork for this? Yes, good. No? Screenshots then.' Rhahk'Zor and Gilnid for instance, have NOTHING.
@ijones72 My reasoning was that he'd constantly be trading into your stuff, hurting himself as he did. Still, his health is probably still a bit high.

Hmm, whenever I can't find art for a specific character I always try and find similar art - i.e. if I couldn't find Gilnid I'd look for a Goblin of similar stature etc. and use that instead. Same with Rhak'Zor - find an ogre and maybe recolourize him. Still, I can see what you mean.
mr smite heroic is defininatly op if you compare it to patchwerk mr smite has a little bit less then two times the amount of patchie
and gets great weapons and a synigestic deck, nerf hp to 60 or less, no ammount of freeze or taunt could kill that, now that i think of it, since it clears the board how could you beat it?
Vanessa heard of Glubtok's powers, and hired him on the spot.
Which changes his hero power to:
This, of course, changes his hero power back to Fists of Flame.
Clarification: He can't oscillate between them. If he uses Flame, and switches to Frost, he can't use Frost until his next turn.
Glubtok's deck is weird. He runs frost and fire spells, as well as, well, ogres. He also has secrets of his own:
When he reaches 15 Health though, a flashy animation and long dialogue changes his hero power permanently to:
AUTOCAST
Arcane Power releases bolts of either tiny fire or tiny frost at all enemies. The fires deal 1 damage, and the frost freezes. He'll keep using it until you kill him.
Why hello there marathon boss. The good news is, his Hero Power didn't change. Overdrive on the other hand:
But there's another problem. Players start with a minion called the:
As you may suspect, Molten Slags will spawn. They come from the Deadmines Forge in the lower left of the battlefield, one at the start of the Foe Reaper's turn.
Notice, can only be harmed so no Polymorph or silences. At first, they only come one at a time.
Once you get Foe Reaper 5000 to 67 Health, they begin spawning 2 at a time.
And then, once he's at 33 Health, 4 at a time.
Wing Reward
Foe Reaper 4000's grandson!
For clearing the Deadmines Reclaimed, players earn one Prototype Reaper.
Class Challenges
First, mages pit themselves against Glubtok for 2 of the card:
Surprisingly enough, she doesn't like going to the beach. Not since the accident.
After which, Shamans go against the Foe Reaper 5000 for two:
Best buds with Fire Elemental. Not so much with Earth Elemental.
Well, hope you've all enjoyed the third wing of my Deadmines adventure. As always, please do leave a reply on the bosses, dialogue, and cards. See you all next time for the fourth wing of the Deadmines.
Ripsnarl's hero power is nasty, it can be thought of similar to the Druid hero power. As a Defias-employed worgen he has a lot of Defias cards, worgen cards, and wolf cards. Odds are, if it exists, he's got it. But he also has two of his own special spell:
For defeating Admiral Ripsnarl, players earn 2 Defias Enforcer cards.
Heroic Admiral Ripsnarl Changes
Ripsnarl's hero power is now a nasty piece of work. It's free, and it gives him one more Attack.
Mostly he goes unchanged, and his vapor minions aren't any stronger. The spell that summons them is cheaper though:
Boss Two: Captain Cookie
AARGMEERGGLGLGL!
AUTOCAST
Captain Cookie is a simple boss. Like Patchwerk, he has no cards at all. Instead he throws food. There are 2 types of food, each with a 50% chance of being summoned.
And then there's:
Dialogue
Begin: AMRGRLGLGL!
Emote Response: MRRARK!
Defeated: GRAAGRL!
Reward
You're on the highway to hell! And he's driving.
For defeating Captain Cookie, players earn 2 Defias Highwayman cards.
Heroic Captain Cookie Changes
AUTOCAST
Cookie's hero power doesn't visibly change, however the Delicious Food now only has a 20% chance to be summoned, and the Rotten Food 80%. And the Rotten Food...
Wing Reward
For lunch, fishsticks. It's always fishsticks.
For clearing the Gunship Completed, players earn one Captain Cookie.
Class Challenges
The first of the class challenges pits Druids against Admiral Ripsnarl to secure two:
Frenzies hug with their mouths. They love everyone.
Afterwards, Priests go toe to webbed-foot with Captain Cookie for 2:
Help thy friends, smite thy enemies.
And that concludes the penultimate wing of my Deadmines adventure. As always, please do leave a reply concerning the cards, the dialogue, and the bosses. Hope to see you all next time for the final wing, where you show-down with Vanessa.

Like any goblin worth his salt, Helix joined the Defias when he saw their enormous paycheck.

Boss Three: Foe Reaper 5000
Foe Reaper 4000's badass grandpa.
Yes, his hero power is the Foe Reaper 4000's effect.
On normal, Foe Reaper doesn't have many tricks beyond that. He plays many mechs, almost in a mockery of mech mage, and has:

Hmm, I'll think about it. I have ideas for the rest of the minions, so I'm not sure I can fit her in.
Wing Four: The Gunship Completed
Boss One: Admiral Ripsnarl
It smells like wet dog in here.
Ripsnarl's hero power is nasty, it can be thought of similar to the Druid hero power. As a Defias-employed worgen he has a lot of Defias cards, worgen cards, and wolf cards. Odds are, if it exists, he's got it. But he also has two of his own special spell:
