Hello everybody! This topic is for discussion of Week #28 of our Weekly Card Design Competition. One of the awesome things about this competition is that it gets us all talking about what makes a card balanced, fun, realistic, interesting, unique, innovative, exciting, and more. However, to make sure that everything runs smoothly, we need to reserve the Submission Topic for submissions only. Everything else goes here. What is everything else, you might ask?
Rules or Process. Do you have a question about the competition's process? Do you need clarification about one of this week's entry requirements? Are you not sure whether your entry adhered to the rules? Ask here!
Feedback or Ideas. Do you have some ideas you'd like to run by others before settling on one? Do you need help balancing or wording your card? Do you need help finding art that will fit your card? Or do you just want feedback from the community on your entry? You're in the right place! Remember, although you are allowed to make minor tweaks to your entry after you've submitted it, you're only allowed one submission per week, so make sure that you've settled on your card for sure beforehand.
Discussion! Do you have thoughts on other people's cards? Are there directions you don't like that you're seeing too many people take? Or directions you'd like to see more people take? Would you like to help others and contribute to a greater community understanding of Hearthstone card design and balance? This is where you want to be!
WARNING:
Please refrain from the following...
Advertising Your Card. This is a new rule during Season 2. Please don't pop in here just to advertise your card only to never be heard from again. This includes only asking short, generic, or insincere questions like "Thoughts?" or "Do you think this is balanced?". Yes, getting feedback on your card is one of the purposes of this topic, but we're not just here for other people to help you. We're here for you all to help each other. 12 hours after this competition begins, there should be plenty of other posts here for you to give specific feedback or for you to comment on a trend. If you post your card for feedback after this time and do not also offer some form of substantial commentary, critique, or praise of others' work, you may find your post deleted.
Plagiarism. Many people post their ideas here before finalizing them in the submission topic. Directly plagiarizing those ideas to post in the submission topic yourself is absolutely not acceptable.
So, without further ado, have fun and get creating!
Ergh, can't say I'm a fan of this week's competition. The blank canvas concept is a good way to encourage lousy design. Restrictions engender creativity and encourage people to come up with the cool things within the rules that they might not have otherwise come up with. Not to mention that it makes submissions easier to compare against one another.
"Faceless Overlord has the most friends on social media of all the Hearthstone minions"
Explanation:
Ok it is a 5 mana 6/6 and can't actually do anything. However there are so many synergy possibilities as it basically is all minion race types in one card. So it will fit in almost any deck. It can be buffed by any race affected card.
For instance if there are a Mechwarper and a Ship's Cannon on the board; Faceless Overlord will cost 1 less and the Ship's Cannon will deal 2 damage as well when you play it.

Seems pretty cool. but I think it should be either a 5/6 or a 7/5 as those stats are honestly to stronk.
Also for clarity I would do this instead: "This minion counts as a Dragon, Murloc, Demon, Pirate, Beast, and Mech." (Notice the capitalization)
Yeah you are right, i will do the capitals. I will keep it a 6/6 however, because it doesn't actually do anything and has no keywords or anything. It will just react on race typed minions that's all.
Can't be targeted: This minion is never a valid target. It can't be hit by battlecries, attacked, or get hit by spells and hero powers. (Ogres not included)
"All Drakonids were bred with the single purpose of serving their master. Broodmarh could be considered a 'failed experiment', as he tended to ignore orders and do things by his own accord. After his master's defeat, he sought to serve the highest power. Under one circumstance: 'Don't tell me what to do!'."
An interesting minion. You can't give him buffs and he can't be damaged or healed normally without AoE. HE can clear of some early game board, but he can never be used aggressively, unless you use Wailing Soul or the opponent had Mass Dispel.
I like the concept for this, but I have a small hangup.
I've never been much of a World of Warcraft player and I certainly am not familiar with the WoW lore, overall.
What I'm doing is looking through concept art and fan art for something that stirs a creative idea. I'm afraid of, though, is that I'm going to end up inadvertently choosing art that is actually some famous, key figure in the WoW universe:
"You idiot... that's Snotorb the Flemy! How could you be so dumb?!"
So... any suggestions for how to avoid this? Or, if I post up 3-4 of the ones I'm considering, would someone be willing to spot-check me that I'm not choosing the image of someone famous?
Thanks!

This week is alot about imagination and your character! All WDCs shouldn't be similar :P I think we'll see several cool cards and I for one really like unique legendary effects and I'm sure I'm not the only one ^^ Have some faith in the participants ;)
"Ramekgos is a champion of the blue dragonflight. After the devastation of the flight by Deathwing, Ramekgos has set out to fight the black dragonflight and reclaim the glory of the blue dragonflight. Though he is young, his command of magic is extraordinary."
Ramekgos's effect triggers for all spells. If it's targeted by an enemy Fireball, you get a free Fireball. If you buff Ramekgos with Velen's Chosen, you get a free Velen's Chosen. As such, it becomes a strong, sticky midrange threat that gives you card advantage if your opponent kills it with a spell. If you have buff cards, Ramekgos gets even more value.
I feel like this card might be too comparable to Trade Prince Gallywix and the new valkyries. What do you guys think?
In the time this thread was made I made half a dozen ideas, but I think I fell on the one I actually like.
"Double the Pain, Double the Fun!"
Overview: Kegan The Ampli-Fryer is a 3-mana legendary named after yours truly. He can target an enemy minion, and force them to take double damage. That means 1 damage deals 2, 2 damage deals 4, 3 damage deals 6, you get the point. You can use him to make very favorable trades with the opponent, obviously you can't target face with it or else it would be the most powerful card in the game.
Balance: With the inclusion of the "Bane" sisters in TGT, I think Kegan would be fairly balanced and see play in some decks. It effectively allows you to get tons of value from your cards. You can kill Malygos or Ysera with a single Fireball, or a Mountain Giant with a single hit of Truesilver Champion.
Synergies: As stated before, this card works very well in decks that focus on minion fighting or board control as it allows you to do both with ease. Let's say you play a Mad Scientist on turn 2, and your opponent plays a Dark Cultist on turn 3. On the next turn you can double the damage that the Dark Cultist takes and you are able to trade 1 for 1 with your Mad Scientist with that Dark Cultist while also getting a 4/3 on the board.

Because it's mine...I just changed the art to something more fitting.
@ G4merGuy09, I liked the Bounty Hunter artwork better actually!! But this way it is more fun, including the name!!!
The actual reason I changed the art and name is because it says that "You need to make a completely new character". The Bounty Hunter is actually from Darkest Dungeon, and I decided to avoid getting a penalty I should just use different art.

Well that's deffinetly a good and original concept ;)

I really like this week's competition as it really puts your creativity to the test.
Does this count as a unique mechanic, or should I go for something even more grandiose?

probably "it" instead of "they" and mby "it takes" not "it will take" ?

A good Anti-Agro Early game minion.
Thoughts?
Give a man a Murloc, and he'll eat for a day.
Give him a Murloc Knight, and people will hate him.

@ Roefl: cool card, can it silence itself?
@ Firebolt: can't be targeted by spells and hero powers? are just anything? I mean can it be silenced by an owl for instance?
@aCinJC: I only played warcraft 1,2 and 3. Don't know anything about WoW, so I know how you feel.
@ Daurnis123: I see a Baron Rivendare and Feign Death combo, nice!!!
Because it's mine...I just changed the art to something more fitting.
No Powers, spells, or minions. Not even Battlecries. AoE effects can hit it.
