Let's start off by congratulating the top-voted finalists of our "Pictures Worth A Thousand Cards" competition. Fantastic work! And we'll be reaching out to our winner to help us determine what's in store for you all next week.
Competition #27 Hearthstone: Heroes Of Hearthstone
Helping us come up with this week's theme was pui980178, whose "Voodoo Doll" card mysteriously captured our hearts during our "No Offense" competition one week ago. This week's theme, though, is one that we hope will push a few more buttons!
Before we get to this week's entry restrictions, I first want to remind you that your entries must be uploaded to an image-hosting site other than Hearthcards. We made multiple announcements about this rule back during the first few weeks when we started implementing it, and it makes me sad to see so many entries still end up with broken images when it's time to tally up the votes (and even more entries that I see are hosted by Hearthcards and that I therefore have to disqualify in advance because I have no idea whether their images will go missing half-way through the final poll).
That out of the way, let's get to this week's theme! ^_^
Entry Restrictions: Your card must be a Legendary Minion. But not just any legendary minion! You see, the Grand Tournament is doing something never-before-done in Hearthstone: introducing entirely new, original characters without previous Warcraft history. You must do the same! The legendary minion you submit cannot be a figure from established Warcraft lore and must be a new, original character of your own creation. We want unique characters in both lore and mechanics. So, your character cannot do something easily comparable or simply analogous to any existing game effect. We realize that this is going to be tough to define, but we have a few examples of existing cards with completely unique effects seen nowhere else in the game so you can get an idea of what we mean: Flame Leviathan, Bolvar Fordragon, Iron Juggernaut, Mimiron's Head, Foe Reaper 4000, Alexstrasza, Nozdormu. In fact, here are some past Weekly Card Design Competition winners whose effects would have been eligible for this week's competition theme:
Archmage Antionidas is some old dude who did some stuff, and I honestly don't know what because I am not that well versed in Warcraft lore. Didn't he teach Jaina magic or something? That's about all I know. By the way, don't make this description longer than 300 characters please.
Many thanks to Fluxflashor for helping us out with this. You can write more than your 300-character limit in you submission post if you like, but just make sure you let us know which part is for submission material and set it apart from whatever is superfluous. Also, note that if your card is doing something like, say, Lord Jaraxxus where it's going to require further mechanical explanation than what's in the card text, this is not where that will go. This is for flavor only. Necessarily mechanical explanations will go in spoilers at the bottom of the final poll gallery, in the same place as unique tokens usually go.
Competition Rules
We, the Fan Creation Forum Moderators, may edit and/or disqualify your entry if you neglect the competition's rules, so please read carefully. These measures are designed to ensure everyone has a fair and enjoyable experience during the contests!
You are allowed to submit one (1) entry per competition. Your entry must be a card of your own creation. You may add minimal comments to explain your card's design, balance, and/or qualities. You may not significantly alter your card once it has been submitted. (Although minor tweaks, such as to adjust balance or correct spelling errors, are acceptable.) You may not delete your submission post. Manipulating votes in any way is strictly forbidden. Any violators will receive a warning and a possible ban / disqualification from future contests. Any discussion of entries, ideas, and so on should take place in this week's designated Discussion Topic. This is the Submission Topic, and it is for submission posts and up-voting only. Recent New Rule - So called "troll entries" can be submitted but will not be able to advance to the final. Fun entries are OK, but outright, unbalanced parodies are not. If you're unsure, check with a moderator before submitting. Recent New Rule -You MUST upload your submission to a site that stores images, for example Imgur.com, Photobucket.com etc. This is for your own good as Hearthcards only keeps your image for a limited time and sometimes has problems resulting in lost images.
Competition Process
Entry Phase and Early Voting (Starts 20:00 UTC 6/August/2015, Ends 18:00 UTC 11/August/2015) It is during this Phase that you may submit entries to the Submission Topic. You may also, of course, feel free to give early up-votes to any submissions that you like!
Voting Phase (Starts 18:00 UTC 11/August/2015, Ends 18:00 UTC 12/August/2015) During this Phase, the Submission Topic will be locked, so no more entries may be submitted. Instead, use this time to browse the submissions and up-vote your favorites!
Final Phase (Starts 19:00 UTC 12/August/2015, Ends 19:00 UTC 13/August/2015) During this Phase, the Discussion Topic will also be locked, and a new Poll Topic will go up. Discussion will be allowed to continue in the Poll Topic, and it will also include all the qualifying finalists and a 24-hour poll to decide the winner of the competition!
How do we determine the qualifying finalists? First, we'll take the highest-voted entry on each page of the submission topic. Then, we'll fill in the rest using the formula detailed here...
(abc) / (de) = x
Where, a = The total number of up-votes in the entire topic. b = The total number of submissions on the same page as the submission. c = The total number of up-votes that the submission received. d = The total number of pages that the entire topic spanned. e = The total number of up-votes on the same page as the submission. x = The submission's final score.
It might seem a bit complex and convoluted, but the bottom line is that, although entries on the earlier pages of the Submission Topic are much more visible and thus receive many more up-votes than entries on later pages, you don't actually have to rush to get your entry in as soon as possible because the up-votes end up being weighted by what page your entry ends up on in order to determine its final score. It will be the ~15-25 entries that receive the highest final scores (depending on the popularity of this week's competition) that move on to the Final Phase. The spreadsheet showing the final scores of every submission will be released after each competition.
But wait, there's more! During each Weekly Card Design Competition, each Fan Creation Forum moderators will be given a Wild Card, which they can use to advance any one entry that they feel was initially overlooked or under-appreciated to the Final Phase, regardless of its final score. Wild Cards are our way of spicing things up a bit, but please don't ask to be given one or be upset if you aren't given one. These are just supposed to be fun. (Also, it should go without saying that, while we moderators are allowed to participate in the competitions, we are not allowed to benefit from Wild Cards.)
Rewards
To encourage your competitive spirit, we do of course offer a few rewards to competition winners: Their card forever immortalized in our Winners' Gallery! The power to choose the theme for a future competition! A unique Avatar Border & "Card Design Champion" Title, as depicted below!
"Faceless Overlord has the most friends on social media of all the Hearthstone minions"
Explanation:
Ok it is a 5 mana 6/6 and can't actually do anything. However there are so many synergy possibilities as it basically is all minion race types in one card. So it will fit in almost any deck. It can be buffed by any race affected card.
For instance if there are a Mechwarper and a Ship's Cannon on the board; Faceless Overlord will cost 1 less and the Ship's Cannon will deal 2 damage as well when you play it.
Mistress Lilith is a very seductive Succubus, capable of seducing even the most loyal and honorable men. Her talents are very much respected among other succubi and therefore gain her lots control over her followers.
Nahalus the Unbowed is a Draenei Paladin serving as a Secondary Leader of the Alliance Vanguard. He's in charge at the Fordragon Hold at Dragonblight. He's widely known for his unparalleled specialization in Protection and especially for his talent in Ardent Defender. Everyone in his forces feels safe to have him by their side.
"Due to his age and his incommensurable strength, he often makes mistakes that will cost his allies more than the enemies.. so he was exiled to the Ratchet Inn to discuss about his legendary moments."
A 2-drop for priests, yet a gimmicky one.. can be catastrophic if silenced early on, not a terrible topdeck, but it's an unique concept (for now), might make silence priest a thing..
EDIT: Changed name, changed "Whenever" with "After"
Can't be targeted: This minion is never a valid target. It can't be hit by battlecries, attacked, or get hit by spells and hero powers. (Ogres not included)
Broodmahr is a mercenary and one of the last remaining Drakonids after the defeat of Blackwing. Under Blackwing's command, he was one of his most effective warriors, being able to pick of lesser heroes and able to use his agility to avoid most spells and attacks. However, unlike other Drakonids, which were bred to obey their master, Broodmahr wasn't born as obediently, not taking orders and mostly preforming actions that he found best.
After Blackwing's defeat, his born in obedience required him to find a new master, making him a free-lance mercenary. It doesn't matter whether he works for the good guys or the bad guys, he'll be a great asset if you follow by his one rule: 'Don't tell me what to do!'
Overview: Kegan The Ampli-Fryer is a 3-mana legendary named after yours truly. He can target an enemy minion, and force them to take double damage. That means 1 damage deals 2, 2 damage deals 4, 3 damage deals 6, you get the point. You can use him to make very favorable trades with the opponent, obviously you can't target face with it or else it would be the most powerful card in the game.
Balance: With the inclusion of the "Bane" sisters in TGT, I think Kegan would be fairly balanced and see play in some decks. It effectively allows you to get tons of value from your cards. You can kill Malygos or Ysera with a single Fireball, or a Mountain Giant with a single hit of Truesilver Champion.
Synergies: As stated before, this card works very well in decks that focus on minion fighting or board control as it allows you to do both with ease. Let's say you play a Mad Scientist on turn 2, and your opponent plays a Dark Cultist on turn 3. On the next turn you can double the damage that the Dark Cultist takes and you are able to trade 1 for 1 with your Mad Scientist with that Dark Cultist while also getting a 4/3 on the board.
Azzra the Incinerator is the living incarnation of the aspect of nature: destruction. In nature, forest fires serve a very important role in the cycle of life. They are destructive forces of conclusion to the present flora and fauna, but signify rebirth and evolution of the future forest. Azzra embodies this destructive quality of rebirth by raining destruction to the large minions towards the end of the game, while leaving small minions alive.
A card that can dissipate damage made by massive spells like pyroblast to defend, or maybe you can use it offensively, sort of like powered up arcane missiles/mad bombers:
Mileena the Barrier, an human battlemage, specializing on the use of barriers instead of offensive spells. Gained recognition in death, by dissolving an enemy barrage and taking all the damage herself, saving her unit.
Nuzjar is one of the oldest of the Naga alive. No one knows how he is still alive after so long. Once serving as one of Queen Azshara's royal guard he is now driven insane by his own immortality. He now roams Azeroth, having mastered stealth techniques and ruthlessly impales unsuspecting victims for no apparent reason other than his madness. Stories of mysterious creatures taking lifes from the shadows have been told all over Azeroth, but in Nuzjar's case, they happen to be true.
Unique is a mechanic where only one of a card can be in play at a time. For example, if you have Zindai on the field your opponent will not be able to play their own and it would not be a valid target for Faceless Manipulator.
While this card is in effect, both players will be able to see what they and their opponent will draw next.
Important minion that is not possible to play: Big Game Hunter
Cards that are NOT eligible will be greyed out. This would be a new non-keyword mechanic, prohibiting use of some cards, e.g. "No minions with Deathrattle can be played", "No minions with Battlecry can be played".
Can remove control decks' important removal or rush decks important face damage. Transform a face hunter's Kill Command into heal, make his deck a messy mix of control and rush.
You don't see what spell that got transformed, so you can never be sure if the Imp-losion is gone.
Ismeri keeps to herself near the river that splits Duskwood and Elwynn Forest where she has been seen studying the tombs and graveyards of Duskwood. Although coming to Darkshire for supplies and being close to the Alliance in distance, she owes no allegiance to them. If asked about her business in Duskwood, she only replies "Quality over Quantity, you'll see."
If you have for example 7 cards in hand when this is played, your last 2 cards drawn will be discarded.
Would be loved by rush and possibly mill decks, although mill decks tend to get their hand full as well, playing on the edge of the 10-card limit.
This is the Submission Topic. The Discussion Topic is here.

In fact, here are some past Weekly Card Design Competition winners whose effects would have been eligible for this week's competition theme:
To help you out further, here are some counter-examples, legendary cards with effects that are not unique and are seen elsewhere in the game: Malorne (Gang Up), Gahz'rilla (Gurubashi Berserker), Trade Prince Gallywix and Lorewalker Cho, Lord Jaraxxus and Majordomo Executus, Loatheb and Millhouse Manastorm, Gazlowe and Archmage Antonidas, Ragnaros the Firelord and Baron Geddon.
Bonus: This is not a requirement. But, since you are creating your own originals characters, we'd like to know a little bit more about them and their place in the Warcraft universe. So, if you provide a short description or backstory of your character, it will appear alongside your card if it goes to the finals. Like so:
Archmage Antionidas is some old dude who did some stuff, and I honestly don't know what because I am not that well versed in Warcraft lore. Didn't he teach Jaina magic or something? That's about all I know. By the way, don't make this description longer than 300 characters please.

Unique is a mechanic where only one of a card can be in play at a time. For example, if you have Zindai on the field your opponent will not be able to play their own and it would not be a valid target for Faceless Manipulator.
While this card is in effect, both players will be able to see what they and their opponent will draw next.
Eligible minions: Druid of the Flame, Volcanic Lumberer, Core Rager, Fireguard Destroyer, Fire Elemental, Flame Imp, Wild Pyromancer, Magma Rager, Baron Geddon, Core Hound, Ragnaros the Firelord, Deathwing, Molten Giant, Flamewaker, Majordomo Executus.
Important minion that is not possible to play: Big Game Hunter
Cards that are NOT eligible will be greyed out. This would be a new non-keyword mechanic, prohibiting use of some cards, e.g. "No minions with Deathrattle can be played", "No minions with Battlecry can be played".

Hi. (Sorry for bad english)
Self-proclaimed Heir to the Elemental Lord Ragnaros, Pyros has been biding his time and gathering forces to usurp the Firelord.
