Starting from the next week's competition I'll make reviews just like in the 22nd week, was busy those days, but anyway, here are my favorites this week!
My first submission! While I can't say anything about how good it actually is, I'm glad to have made something that I hope is at least unique.
At first, I tried to compare it with Charge, and I was aware that my card was probably better than charge, save the more difficult conditions needed to cast it. However, I also think Charge is terrible, and my card is a Paladin card, so it being better isn't too big of a deal. I also realize that this card encroaches on Warrior territory, since Charge is more common among Warrior cards, and Paladins tend to have Divine Shield, but I wanted to try a more midrange card. Plus, I wanted something more about an organized military in terms of flavor, like Quartermaster, as opposed to Warrior's berserker tendencies, and this card would just kind of be a better Charge in Warrior.
Since Paladin is king of buffs, I wanted to do two things: bestow charge on a buffed minion to immediately get returns on your Blessing of Might or Blessing of Kings, and to protect that minion, preferably with a litter of Silver Hand Recruits. Since one of the minions given taunt is the one on the furthest right, that minion will often end up being a Silver Hand Recruit, providing weak, but numerous taunts.
My biggest concerns are whether this card seems too clunky (either because of the lengthy text, or because of the apparent contrast in the buffs it gives), and whether there's a niche in which it would fit. If anyone can tell me, were they given this card, what they would think of to do with it at first glance and in what kind of deck they would use it, that'd be great. I'm afraid my hopes for this card are a bit outlandish, so I wonder what others would do.
I do to, and it comes across as really neat and creative... but unfortunately it just doesn't function. What looks like clockwise to one player is counter-clockwise to the other, so this doesn't really work.
I have a question about the new qualifying system.
New system - The top 0-1 entries on each page will qualify for the final. The rest of the spots, ca 10 (excluding Wildcards), will be decided by the formula below. We will try this for one week and then evaluate if this is more fair than just using the formula. Thanks for bearing with us.
What does "top 0-1 entries" mean? The old system was "The top 0 entries qualify and the rest (all) of the spots will be decided by the formula below", wasn't it? So there's not much difference, just that there's now an unknown factor, which decides, if the top entry of a page automatically qualifies. What is this factor exactly, which decides, whether the top entry of a page qualifies?

I can't speak for Murloc, but I believe, if my understanding of what they wanted to do is correct, that the deciding factor you're asking about is the number of entries on that page. Like, if the last page of the submission topic only has two entries, then we're not going to bother taking the top entry from it. I'll have to check with him to make sure, but I didn't want to leave a question like this hanging for too long.
I'm curious how the spreadsheets look like, you use to manage the votes. In the thread it says, you release it after the competition is finished, but so far, I haven't found any (of the past weeks that is) - I may just be blind, though.

I'm sorry, you're right that we've been neglecting to do that. Remember, Murloc and I are newer mods that have only finished two whole competitions so far, and there are a couple of "closing out" things we've not quite gotten used to doing regularly yet after the ends of contests because we've been prioritizing getting the next contest up that folks are usually eager to get to. I'll make sure to get those spreadsheets up when I get home tonight, thanks for bearing with us. >_<
Should actually read "If there are no nearby party members nearby, then don't complain about getting a summon."
Dude.. That is a really cool concept, but phase 1 of the competition was over 6 hours ago.. You can't post anymore cards to this week's theme. Too bad you were too late :(

Well, basically that's it. However, if lets say there would be a small amount of votes on page x there may be 0 that advance to the final from that page. But I don't think that will happen.
Also to the person that asked the question: Last week our equation led to two people on page 1 with 50+ votes not advancing which I thought was very unfair, hence this change.
Where, a = The total number of up-votes in the entire topic. b = The total number of submissions on the same page as the submission. c = The total number of up-votes that the submission received. d = The total number of pages that the entire topic spanned. e = The total number of up-votes on the same page as the submission. x = The submission's final score.
I'd like to suggest an alternative formula.
a / b = x
Where, a = The number of up-votes the submission recieved. b = The number of up-votes the highest-rated submission on the same page of the submission recieved. x = The submission's final score
Currently the final score is dependant on how many good submissions are on the same page. When there's a page with 5 really good submissions, the good scores hinder each other (they all bump e) and chances are none of them will make it to the finals.
With the system I suggest, there's a good chance, that in that case all of them would make it. The highest-rated card on each page will always have a rating of 1 (because a = b) and every other card will be rated on how close their rating is to the highest-rated card.
We could test the formula on former submission threads - if the resulting finalists would be reasonable, you could try it out in upcoming competitions. If there's no big difference, it's at least easier to understand and calculate.
@TSMS Your system disproportionately favors "uniform" pages; it'd give mediocre page a similar weight as strong pages as long as the leaders are close.
I think we have enough data from past competitions to see how popular a page typically is, and then assign a "value" to a vote on a particular page based on that data. For example, we might look at the past 21 competitions and find Page 1 typically gets 200 votes, Page 2 gets 150, Page 5 gets 100, and so forth (numbers not remotely accurate). So in our next competition, a vote on Page 2 would be worth ~1.3 "Page 1 votes", a vote on Page 5 would be worth 2 "Page 1 votes" and so on for the rest of the pages.
The important thing is that this system completely stops same-page dependence; a submission receives the same score whether there's one "good" submission or five "good" submissions on their page. It also "catches" if a page is doing better or worse than average, and rewards/punishes appropriately.
Starting from the next week's competition I'll make reviews just like in the 22nd week, was busy those days, but anyway, here are my favorites this week!
P1: Recomblaster, Cunning Executioner, Totemic Recall
P2: Silver Hand War Horse, Forest Pigmy (my favorite!)
P3: Rune of Power (but how can you dispel this one?), Silver Hand Commander, Blackout
P4: Emerald Steed, Shrink Apprentice, Lady Vashj
P5: Dirty Tricks, Crumbling Colossus (nice idea), Legendary Protector, Malfunctioning Defender
P6: Tavern Brawl, M'uru, Sanctum Gladiator, Troll Hexer, Raven Lord Anzu
P7: Divine Speaker, Totemic Guardian, Strength of Earth Totem (would love to see this as a free totem like Flametongue in HS)
P8: Vanessa VanCleef, Lava Spirit, Totemic Flame, Air Elemental, Ancient Guardian
P9: Skyfire Hawk-Bow, Brightwing, Nexus Stalker, Ratchet Banker
Will be back with an edit whenever I'll see something interesting, repeating, it's just my opinion!
mfw his Yogg steals my win
:3 thank you so much. let the creativity commence!
If you can't beat them, join them

Love the concept! Should be 4 mana though, 3 is too strong

Okay, I figured it would be something like this.

No worries, I really appreciate your work and the effort you put into the competitions. :-)
I honestly did not realize that there were two other entries using essentially the same mechanic prior to my last chance race to submit.
How often do similar entries happen in these contests? Does it end up of splitting the vote?
What I really learned is don't be Mr. Last Minute next time. :)
I am.
Should actually read "If there are no nearby party members nearby, then don't complain about getting a summon."

The spreadsheets for the first two competitions of Season 2 have been posted to the ends of their respective Submission Topics. =)
