But then that's just a crappy mountain giant, isn't it? I mean, spells are cards too... It needs to be like (2) less for each spell, at which point it gets a bit insane in Freeze Mage or Rogue.
EDIT: I just thought about what could alter a Giant's mana cost. Number of opponent's unused mana crystals from the previous turn? That's variable, and it is visible during your turn, since the mana crystals only refill at the start of the opponent's next turn. Just an idea. Maybe someone wants to make that a card. :)
That would not be very viable mechanic i would say. U would basicly wait for your opponent to play one card or nothing, which on itself would already give u tempo and then u would play low cost giant on top of that. But until your opponent would do this, u would have a "dead" card in your hand, that would not help u in any way. Dont think card with this mechanic would be played much.

You're right, it was a bad example. But it was only to illustrate what I meant with the mana cost being variable in both ways. :) Spells are indeed not a great idea if you compare it to the Mountain Giant. So maybe split the idea into two cards. One card that costs less depending on spells (but isn't a Giant) and a new Crystal Giant which has its cost altered by something else.

I really like the flavor of that.
Crystal Giant
10 Mana
8 Attack, 8 Health
Costs (1) less for every empty mana crystal your opponent has.
Would be especially useful against those goddamn ramp druids.
Lol, guys thanks for all the feedback, but unlike other giants this one don't keep his mana reduction when you draw him. So you have to mulligan for him to make him cost almost nothing compared to Molten and Mountain Giants, well, thanks for all. I wanna see more. xD

Cool card, one note tho: "while this card IS in your hand" i think this would be better ;-)

I'm not sure a Giant must have its mana cost undulate during a game. But if it had to perhaps it could be defined as follows:
Costs (1) mana less for each spell you cast and (1) mana more for each spell your opponent casts while this card is in your hand.

so, after further thought, it should probably be unused mana crystals of the opponent, and a lower cost (8 should probably do it.)
It's bad design to punish the opponent for playing at peak efficiency. rather, you should be punishing them for playing inneficiently.
