In my opinion, as I already said, the best way would be to increase Voting phase and lower Submission phase durations. If there's - for example, don't take it literally - 1 day for submissions and 6 days for voting, it doesn't matter much if you post on first or last page.

While the submission phase certainly was too long it does need a bit of time. There are surely a lot of people who see designing cards as a kind of hobby and already have something up their sleeve but others need to come up with ideas from the scratch if they want to participate in such a contenst and that takes time... let alone the fact that some people are interested in such a thing but don't log in on a daily basis,
I'm not saying people should make their cards right away - why not separate Design phase and Submission phase? Or make submissions in some way people won't see them before voting starts. This time "Design and Submit" phase lasted 5 days and first round of vote finalization lasted 12 hours...
Though it's fun this way too. Just more "share your ideas" than actual contest.

example: the first entry has a better chance then the last entry .
3 days "Design-Phase" after an announcement of the topic. Its sure possible to close the thread at first and unlock it in the next phase
24h "Submission-Phase" since everyone had enough time to think (Thread open again)
2 days for 1st voting
24h final voting
This is actually a pretty interesting idea. We could add a second voting phase to go after the first since I think the current system is Submission Voting -> Finalist Voting -> Winner Voting.
While there are some cool cards in the candidates we are voting for alot of the best cards in this thread weren't chosen for consideration. I really hope that we revamp the process for the next competition. I'd hate for people to get disenchanted with participating in the competitions because the process is broken.
Priestess of the Moon doesn't have any interaction with a hero power. Why is it even a candidate?
It's certainly less direct, but to say it doesn't have any interaction with a hero power is just wrong. Priest has, without a doubt, the worst hero power for early game, because it has no value if there isn't a damaged friendly character. Priestess of the Moon helps to solve this problem, without being as narrow as many of the other options that have a more specific hero power interaction.
It could be read as "If your hero power targets your hero, gain 2 armor", but that would make the card far worse, for what is, in many cases, the same effect.

So if I make a minion that has no "direct" interaction with hero power but it could do damage because it has more than 0 attack and a Priest's hero power could heal that damage then that's a fair card to submit in this contest? If you make the standard indirect then any card can be submitted because any card has an "indirect" interaction.

By your logic, Shield Slam doesn't interact with a hero power. Hyperbole is only useful if the underlying point has any validity.

So does the winning card get in to the game or is this just a waste of time/pointless fun?
Come on, this is a fan site, and this contest has no relation to Blizzard. It doesn't.

is it what you meant?
Good Game to all the finalists. I'm now really interested of who will win.

Heard about Lesser Heal?

That's a real stretch.
