There hasn't been a card that can silence incoming battlecries, but it's something I can absolutely see happening at some point. If anyone would silence something loud, I figured it would have to be a librarian! It would be funny to hear a "SHHHHHH!!!" whenever a battlecry attempt is made while this is on the board. Silencing your own negative effect battlecries like the flame imp's 3 dmg for example, could work pretty well with this card. Overall I think it would be a fun card to implement some day. What do you guys think?
While an amusing mechanic and hilarious from a flavor perspective, this card is so OP it's not even funny. To not be broken like a plate thrown from a moving car he would need a seriously higher mana cost. He could have a better body so he isn't bolt-bait, but 3 mana for something that can hamstring some of the most powerful effects out there is kind of crazy pants. I don't know...maybe a 2/5 for 5?
You're right that the effect of the card could definitely be overpowered, but I guess that's why I want to make the card's body so fragile. The idea of playing some kind of minion with taunt or a really good deathrattle (or both in the case of sludge belcher), followed up by this card does some pretty insane, since it effectively nullifies owls and the black knight. So maybe this card would be better as a 6 mana, 2/4? What do you think of that?
It needs to be tough, especially as en epic, so someone doesn't just zot it and keep running. I'd say 6 for a 2/5.
Fair enough, I was just thinking that as an epic, you would be able to run 2 of these in your deck, so you would have to find a way to remove the card twice, as it's effects are pretty major. 4 health at 6 mana would allow him to be swallowed up by flamestrike, or slammed by truesilver, or chomped up by Death's Bite. Maybe if we took your 2/5 body suggestion, and made it a Legendary at 6 cost (that way you could only run one), it would be better?
One other question about altering this card... Should this card have 0 attack? This is a Librarian we're talking about after all. If he should have an attack stat though, I think 1 would be okay. Librarian's don't fight!
Yeah, this definitely seems too overpowered, as Blizzard has already tried making a card which counters minions with Battlecry,Nerub'ar Weblord, and that never really saw competitive play in the higher ranks.

They do when people don't wanna pay late fees.
A bit too good for Warlocks.
