Welcome, one and all, to Quest Givers Anonymous, a Hearthpwn Custom Adventure Competition!
We are currently on Wing Four.
This is a very lengthy post. Take your time viewing, there is no need to rush.
We have four amazing entries, all featured below! For this contest, you can vote for as many as you like, and vote totals will be carried over to each subsequent wing.
"Emerald Dreams and Nightmares", by Klipce
"In the deepest forest lays a grove of emerald, a flourishing domain of ethereal peace. But the place has been cast in a gloomy slumber and there's no comming back for those who fall asleep. Hurry adventurers before the land despairs ! Come to follow your dreams and face your worse nightmares !"
This adventure is inspired by the Emerald Dream and Emerald Nightmare, as well as the events of the War Against the Nightmare. It will feature a new keyword : Phantasm which lets you add an extra copy of the card to your deck. Players would be given 3 copies of common/rare/epic cards with Phantasm and 2 copies of legendary cards with the keyword. The number of cards in a deck would still be 30 as Phantasm would only affect the number of copies of a card that can be added to a deck.
Wing 4: The Nightmare Dragonflight
While the Adventurers were busy fighting the groove's curse, Broll Beramantle went to ask for help from the protectors the Emerald Dragonflight. Instead, he found the Emerald Dream corrupted and the Dragons tried to eat him !
WIth Lulubelle adequately chastised and educated on how summoning powerful demons is not a good idea, the diminutive warlock has been forced by the draenei to follow her so she can keep a close eye on her at all times. This brings our motley crew to five, a real crowd. But ahead lies their greatest obstacle yet: what Lulubelle inadvertently unleashed on Azeroth with her uncontrolled fel magic.
First Boss: The Immolated Imp
Token:
The Blasted Lands hold all sorts of twisted foes. This seems to be a one-of-a-kind Flame Imp that has gone a little too far. The adventurers and their unwilling captive duly prepare for battle, knowing what lies ahead will be far worse.
This boss always has an opening hand with Voidwalker. He will then play it when he has 2 mana and uses his Hero Power on it.
"A demon! You were right!" Questing Adventurers tells the Anchorite. The draenei priest had suspected Lulubelle's magic had inadvertently opened the Dark Portal, again, and the Nathrezim that now towered over them was all the proof they needed.
"This is it. The final boss. The big kahuna," Resourceful Kobold grimaced. "Keep eyes peeled for shinies and paws on pickaxes. Big fight coming!"
"Couldn't have said it better myself," Gracious Gardener responded. Flames leapt into the palm of the blood elf's hand, eager to seek out their target.
Greetings, Adventurer! I am Mariscal Lord Garithos, time traveler and guide of the Human race.
In the ominous future I come from, a Horde of wretched monsters came from another world and destroyed our precious Azeroth. Many other calamities followed that invasions, and now Undead and Demons alike walk over once sacred lands.
That's why I came to this time: If we attack their world before they attack ours, History can turn very differently. Follow me through this portal and help me to claim Draenor in the name of the Holy Light!
Our first step is Terokkar Forest, home of twisted monstrosities like the Arakkoa.
Wing Four: The Battle of Gorgrond
The Alliance arrive at the natural shrine of Gorgrond, an ancient jungle guarded by the Genesaurs.
However, they encounters three armies fighting to claim the place for themselves, so Garithos insists in doing the same.
"Tales of wonder, whispers the sea. Tales of plunder, robbery and thieves! Tales about pirates, burly and mean! And among them a Rogue engineer. Leading the Defias, the fearsome VanCleef! But as every reign of terror, condemned to fall. As with every failure, gold left behind. So who's the brave, who'll claim the treasure? Pirates from all nations, will raid Ironclad! But most of them are fated to fail, due to the path being a treacherous trail! Through the Vile Reef you must battle, the Stranglethorn Vale you must survive! And only then the dreaded Deadmines you'll finally find! But be careful, because dead man tell no tales... about the treasures of VanCleef."
The adventure presents the Burst Mechanic, an ability that some minions have that let them make an special action whenever they want during your turn... but the catch is, that only once! So find the perfect moment to use a minion's Burst ability!
Wing Four: The Ironclad Cove
First Boss: Mr. Smite
Mr. Smite, the old captain Greenskin's first mate, hasn't taken well being completely removed from World of Warcraft! After defeating him, you'll obtain Angrath two taurens from his tribulation, to boost even more your pirate decks!
At first your Hero Power will do nothing. Vanessa has her own deck to improve her Hero Power. Your Hero Power can hold three effects. If a fourth effect is played, it replaces the oldest enchantment.
Spells (30):
Juggernaut Oil x5
Eau of Kragg x6
Essence of Oblivion x6
Extract of Sulfuras x5
Starting Again x2
Faceless Passion x5
Hakkar's Blood x1
Story:
Vanessa is tasked with retrieving the treasure while the others get their loot from the last boss fight, but she gets surprised by an apparition of nothing less than her father! Of course she won't like to fight him, but while being under Greenskin's service she doesn't has any other chance... VanCleef have a Combo deck that focuses around his hero power, but with Vanessa poisons you don't have nothing to worry about! After Edwin vanishes, you'll obtain a ghastly reward and, at last, the treasure! Or so it seems...
Defeating Ashvane will grant you access to her forces. But, don't think everything ended! During the battle Azshara stealed the treasure to lure you into her realm, the Eternal Palace!
Competition Process
The Competition Process, as stated above, is slated to be one wing per two weeks with a voting period of 3 days, leaving a total of 11 days for card creation. Five wings will take a total of 10 weeks. This is a tentative estimate and the moderators will be continually monitoring the flow of the competition.
Phase One, Wing One: January 4th — January 16th Voting period: January 16th — January 18th
Phase Two, Wing Two: January 18th — January 30th Voting period: January 1st — February 3rd
Phase Three, Wing Three: February 3rd — February 16th Voting period: February 16th — February 18th
Phase Four, Wing Four: February 18th — March 1st Voting period: March 1st — March 3rd
Phase Five, Wing Five: March 3rd — March 15th Voting period: February 15th — March 17th
Didn't found any error this time (well, this time you can only vote a single entry but with only 4 entries that isn't a big problem), but I would like to thanks @McF4rtson for the big labour he's doing with this competition. Putting all those entries together is a necessary task, but must really be a very hard one.
Also, great entries everyone, cannot wait to see the conclusion of all adventures!
Did not realize the votes were not multiple choice, crap.
The votes are now public.
At last, I can take a break. For the 5th and final phase, we're keeping the tradition of allowing all contestants to create their own thread (consider this your challenge). What you do in your thread is up to you. However, in the voting thread, you are allowed only three showcase cards, though your own thread will be linked.
Please title your thread as "[Expansion Competition] yourexpansionnamehere".
