Welcome, one and all, to Quest Givers Anonymous, a Hearthpwn Custom Adventure Competition!
We are currently on Wing Two.
This is a very lengthy post. Take your time viewing, there is no need to rush.
We have seven amazing entries, all featured below! For this contest, you can vote for as many as you like, and vote totals will be carried over to each subsequent wing.
"Emerald Dreams and Nightmares", by Klipce
"In the deepest forest lays a grove of emerald, a flourishing domain of ethereal peace. But the place has been cast in a gloomy slumber and there's no comming back for those who fall asleep. Hurry adventurers before the land despairs ! Come to follow your dreams and face your worse nightmares !"
This adventure is inspired by the Emerald Dream and Emerald Nightmare, as well as the events of the War Against the Nightmare. It will feature a new keyword : Phantasm which lets you add an extra copy of the card to your deck. Players would be given 3 copies of common/rare/epic cards with Phantasm and 2 copies of legendary cards with the keyword. The number of cards in a deck would still be 30 as Phantasm would only affect the number of copies of a card that can be added to a deck.
Dream and Nightmare:
Wing Two: The Twisted Woods
As you step deeper into the forest, you find yourself surrounded by broken trees and the shadows of dangerous beasts. It seems like the corruption of the land has taken hold on nature itself.
Can you restore the forest's lost vitality?
First Boss: Delilah
This dryad was a fierce defender of the forest but she has be taken over by a fantasy that clouds her mind.
Now that the spirits of the forest have been cleansed, the curse must be lifted, right? Wrong! And now The Puppetmasters come out of the shadows to take matters in their own hand...
"Celestial Coup d'Etat", by Granduroi
"Above the Sky, in the country of the Angels, great troubles are taking place. After the attack on Dalaran, the people above the skies are now scared of the earthlings, and some began to question the autority of the King Melkhiel. Negociations were inefficient, and an insurgency took a city and claim independance ! Even if the King is open to discussions, the rebels are violent, and determined to destroy the Kingdom of the Skies, and you must stop them !"
This adventure is centered on the Kingdom above the Skies, a realm above Azeroth, and usually not interested by the events on the ground. But with the recent and terrible changes under the clouds the two worlds are now a little closer and the King Melkhiel ask help from everywhere ! In this adventure, you will fight rebellious and violent people from Azeroth, but also from the sky, and you will face some of the most powerful flying person! Fly is a new evergreen keyword introduced in this adventure :
Wing Two : The Maze of Streets
Now you have entered the city, you must find your way into it! You need to go to the upper districts, but the path will not be easy, and the city is well guarded by the local Militia, be careful!
Human and Kobold, an odd match, but wanderlust and a thirst for exploration knows no boundaries. Their first test after leaving Westfall, now laden with supplies, is the eerie Deadwind Pass. Will they meet ogres? Ghosts? Or perhaps a new friend?
First Boss: The Bygone Brute
A towering ogre lumbers in the distance, holding an axe nicked and pockmarked by battle. Yet, he stumbles about, seemingly lost and confused, his rage perhaps misplaced.
Boss Behaviour The boss starts with this card on his side of the battlefield:
In the midst of the dead undergrowth, life. The adventuring duo find an unexpected lodge in a clearing and it has carefully been tended to by a kindly blood elf mage. The dark woods can corrupt even the most innocent, and the garden springs to life.
Boss Behaviour You start with this card on your side of the battlefield:
Greetings, Adventurer! I am Mariscal Lord Garithos, time traveler and guide of the Human race.
In the ominous future I come from, a Horde of wretched monsters came from another world and destroyed our precious Azeroth. Many other calamities followed that invasions, and now Undead and Demons alike walk over once sacred lands.
That's why I came to this time: If we attack their world before they attack ours, History can turn very differently. Follow me through this portal and help me to claim Draenor in the name of the Holy Light!
Our first step is Terokkar Forest, home of twisted monstrosities like the Arakkoa.
Wing Two: Warspear Citadel
First Boss: Draka and Durotan
Boss Behaviour Draka and Durotan switch places each turn. They share the same deck, hand and board, but have different Hero Power and Health. Once you defeat either of them, they will draw two cards, get 5 Armor and upgrade their Hero Power:
Hold, lad. There's an inscription on the dais. It's a warning. It says, "Whomsoever takes up this blade shall wield power eternal. Just as the blade rends flesh, so must power scar the spirit."
Hey there and welcome to a new custom adventure - Fate of Lordaeron. Some of you who have played Warcraft 3 might have already recognized the quote above – it refers to nothing else than the Frostmourne - the bane of Lordaeron, the dread blade of the Lich King. This expansion takes us back before the era of the Lich King as we know him, back to the last days of Lordaeron and the last days of prince Arthas as its defender.
This adventure will follow the old Naxxramas and Blackrock and thus feature no new Keyword. But what does it bring?
Return of Knights of the Frozen Throne mechanics – Being close to Icecrown and the undead Scourge some cards bring their mechanics back – namely Secret Deathrattles, Defile – style re-casting cards and of course - FREEZE SHAMAN!
New Mechanic - Though not a Keyword you can still Discover a new Mechanic for this expansion as you venture deeper into the cold north…
Fate of Lordaeron - Follow the story of Arthas and learn how he became the Lich King, or perhaps discover a different path and save the Kingdom…
Wing 2: The Cold Wastes
You have found an old ally Muradin Bronzebeard and he needs your help. Assist him with saving his dwarves so he may assist, in turn, assist you in your search for Mal'Ganis...
First Boss: A Floating Necropolis
Muradin's dwarves are cornered behind an undead base. Take the Necropolis down to free them.
"Tales of wonder, whispers the sea. Tales of plunder, robbery and thieves! Tales about pirates, burly and mean! And among them a Rogue engineer. Leading the Defias, the fearsome VanCleef! But as every reign of terror, condemned to fall. As with every failure, gold left behind. So who's the brave, who'll claim the treasure? Pirates from all nations, will raid Ironclad! But most of them are fated to fail, due to the path being a treacherous trail! Through the Vile Reef you must battle, the Stranglethorn Vale you must survive! And only then the dreaded Deadmines you'll finally find! But be careful, because dead man tell no tales... about the treasures of VanCleef."
The adventure presents the Burst Mechanic, an ability that some minions have that let them make an special action whenever they want during your turn... but the catch is, that only once! So find the perfect moment to use a minion's Burst ability!
Wing Two: Stranglethorn Jungle
Greenskin finally managed to dock his ship into the Stranglethorn shores! But, don't think that your adventure is coming to an end! To arrive to the Deadmines, you'll need to cross the Stranglethorn Jungle, plagued with ferocious beasts and murlocs!
Boss Behaviour This boss starts with Panther of the Grove and Shirvallah's Protection on his side of the battlefield However, you start with four Resourceful Shots in your hand.
Adventurer! We need your help once again! Near Stormwind City, in mountains leading to Burning Steppes, unexpected earthquakes took place. Our scouts reported apperance of a giant hole, which is enlarging. They also said they heard whispers from it. We're not sure what that means, maybe that's true what they say, but maybe something made them crazy. But if so, we still need somebody to solve this problem. That person will of course get price. So, would you help us?
This works like Corruption. You play a card, but the effect triggers later. Also, there's a new race added in this adventure - Frogaen. They are people who look like frogs. If you want more information about the first wing, there will be link here: Step into Darkness First Wing: Dark Tunnels.
Wing Two: The Fungal Forest
Ah, finally, the Fungal Forest! - said Groag - Maybe that's not the safest way, but it's shortest one. Lonely, I would never go here, but I have you, don't I?
First Boss: Groag?
It was time to learn that hungry frogaen was able to do everything! You didn't look for a while, when Groag disappeared. You saw him among glowing mushrooms, not able to stop eating. And with each mushroom, he looked even weaker...
Boss Behaviour Groag has no deck, and don't draw any cards, so he does not fatigue. Instead, he starts with five copies of Glowing Mushroom on his side the battlefield. When he dies, you will lose.
Groag's Heroic battle has 15 Health.
Rewards (Class Challenge: Priest)
Second Boss: Necrofibrus
"Intruders! How do you dare to enter this place? As a payment, your flesh will feed this land!"
Non-fatal means any damage that would kill the minion.
Third Boss: King Bolethal
You were walking through area where mushrooms had overgrown so much that even the field was made of their roots. Suddenly, it started to rise. That were not just mushrooms and mycelium, that was part of a bigger thing. You and Groag managed to retreat from its back, but the fight was inevitable.
Boss Behaviour When this boss would take lethal damage, he will clear his own board and reset his deck. He takes a second form and Hero Power. Furthermore, the boss' second form will not take fatigue damage.
The Competition Process, as stated above, is slated to be one wing per two weeks with a voting period of 3 days, leaving a total of 11 days for card creation. Five wings will take a total of 10 weeks. This is a tentative estimate and the moderators will be continually monitoring the flow of the competition.
Phase One, Wing One: January 4th — January 16th Voting period: January 16th — January 18th
Phase Two, Wing Two: January 18th — January 30th Voting period: January 1st — February 3rd
Phase Three, Wing Three: February 3rd — February 15th Voting period: February 15th — February 17th
Phase Four, Wing Four: February 17th — February 29th Voting period: February 29th — March 2nd
Phase Five, Wing Five: March 2nd — March 14th Voting period: February 14th — March 16th
Sorry to hear that, i'll try to format the boss behaviours better(I've done boss behaviors before your entry so i didn't habe any reference). Also great work formatting everything, but Nibbler starts as a boss card on the battlefield. Here's the boss card I used in the Submission Topic:
Congrats to Klipce and Wailor who tied for highest votes in Phase Two!
I'm dead tired and need to sleep after work, so submission and discussions topics will go up tomorrow morning. But, I'll show the two challenges for the coming Phase Three so you guys can have a heads up:
At least one of your cards must interact with a tribe. (The "All" tribe does not count) However, none of your other cards may interact with any other tribe. For example, you have a spell that interacts with Mechs. Other cards in Phase Three can continue to interact with Mechs, but not any other tribe.
Galakrond's Awakening has set a precedent: Set-specific keywords have been revived in collectible cards. (Echo, Twinspell, Magnetic, Overkill were supposed to be exclusive to their respective sets but this Adventure brought them all back). As such, in light of this, one of your reward cards must use Inspire.
We will return to the 3-card Showcase format, unless the majority of you wish to stay at the current 4-card format. Let me know here or in the Phase Three discussion post.
I think 3 cards is better. I let's us really choose which cards are the most interesting.
I love Inspire, very happy to be working with it ! I'm not sure I understand the other challenge tho. Do minion with a tribe count or only those that have an effect liked to a tribe ?
I'm completely okay with challenge #2. Just wanted to say that Galakrond's Awakening is a completely different thing, since it's supposed to be a recap of the Year of the Dragon, and so, it only brings back mechanics from that year.
Having just one card use a keyword from several years ago is something that I don't think will happen, since it's quite unelegant.
Reusing an old keyword as a central part of an expansion is a different story. It has already happened with Quests, in fact.
As I said, I'm okay with the challenge, since we're doing this just for fun.
Yeah, sorry, poll was on private. It's open now. As for the whole adventure thing, Wailor, yeah, I know they brought back keywords as an homage to the story leading up to Galakrond's Awakening. However, you're wrong about Quest, as it was not the expac-exclusive keyword, Adapt was.
I know there are a lot of concepts like "Magnetize to Murlocs/Pirate etc.". To keep it simple, I'm going to say yes, Mif you use Magnetic, you are synergizing with Mechs.
We have seven amazing entries, all featured below!
For this contest, you can vote for as many as you like, and vote totals will be carried over to each subsequent wing.

whatTheHeck, your submission was particularly hard to format. Dunno why.The only issues I found are wrong classes in some class challenges.
@McF4rtson
Sorry to hear that, i'll try to format the boss behaviours better(I've done boss behaviors before your entry so i didn't habe any reference). Also great work formatting everything, but Nibbler starts as a boss card on the battlefield. Here's the boss card I used in the Submission Topic:

Just a few minor ones I have noticed in my post:
A Floating Necropolis - Class Chalenge is Hunter, not Druid
Ordin Frostbane - There is no class chalenge at all
Alliance Emissary - Has a note to hidden minions from the first wing, that this boss does not use.
Nothing too important, maybe just the hidden minions look out of place.
Fixed them all, hopefully that's all of the errors.
Congrats to Klipce and Wailor who tied for highest votes in Phase Two!

I think 3-card format will be better, considering it's still a half of all cards. We shouldn't need more for showcase if we're not showcasing bosses.
Good rest buddy, you're doing amazing work here !

I love Inspire, very happy to be working with it ! I'm not sure I understand the other challenge tho. Do minion with a tribe count or only those that have an effect liked to a tribe ?
Oh, one more thing. Am I the only who don't see poll results? Not sure if problem is on my side or site's side.
I'm completely okay with challenge #2. Just wanted to say that Galakrond's Awakening is a completely different thing, since it's supposed to be a recap of the Year of the Dragon, and so, it only brings back mechanics from that year.

I can't see it too, maybe it's on private.
Also, about the tribes rule, does Magnetic count as interaction with mechs? And, can we have a Mech interaction and pirate minions?
