In WC3 TFT, Crypt Fiends have an ability called
Burrow
, which allows them to hide underground, regenerate, and strike back. I wanted to put this flavor into the card.
Game play - A 1 mana Spell Damage minion would be a powerful card for many classes, so it has a significant detriment once it dies.
Lore - Two units in one! Sorceresses helped defend the Sunwell against the Scourge. When they failed, they were raised again as Banshees, powerful anti-magic casters.
Kinda boring, but I decided to go more flavorful than interesting. Raiders dealt siege damage in Warcraft III, so it made sense for it to deal extra damage to the opponent's "base."

Synergy with Rogue's various bounce effects ( Vanish , Waggle Pick , etc...).
