Hey guys, this is your bog-standard Discussion Topic for our "Trials and Errors" Class Creation competition Phase IV; the place to let your ideas run free. Share what's on your mind for your class and help each other to make the best cards you can, as is tradition! In the post below, you will find the standard format for submissions.

PHASE IV: Journey to Un'Goro + Knights of the Frozen Throne
By having your class's Classic Set approved of, you've shown that you can make a completely functional class. But functional isn't good enough. Your class must also have room to grow beyond that. For this phase, you'll be proving that it can by giving your class Journey to Un'Goro and Knights of the Frozen Throne cards. Here are the requirements for your Class Creation Competition Phase IV Entry:
CLASS, HERO, AND HERO POWER There are just a few elements of your class that you will repeat from your Phase I entry, to remind us who and what we're dealing with. If you'd like to repeat anything from your class's introductory explanation, including its flavor or whatever you believe makes it interesting or unique mechanically, that's fine, but try to keep it brief.
EXAMPLE JUG & KFT CARDS We do not want to see your Class's entire JUG and KFT Sets out in the open.
You are allowed up to five (5) example cards out in the open. You may, below these cards, give brief explanations of them, why you decided to showcase them, how they exemplify what makes your class unique, and so on.
You should also have 3 Common cards, 3 Rare cards, 2 Epic cards, 1 Legendary minion, and 1 Legendary Quest with the Journey to Un'Goro watermark. These may not have Lifesteal , Death Knight cards, or other mechanics that did not exist until later expansions.
3 Common cards, 3 Rare cards, 2 Epic cards, 1 Legendary minion, 1 Legendary Hero Card and 1 1-Cost Lich King spell with the Knights of the Frozen Throne watermark. These may not have Recruit , Spellstone Upgrades, or other mechanics that did not exist until later expansions.
Make sure you use the Death Knight border on Hearthcards for the spell the Lich King uses against you, and try to find some appropriate Lich King art if you can.
If your example cards produce any unique token cards, those must be put behind a spoiler (Inserting a Spoiler can be done by clicking the ! symbol on the top bar of the text editor.).
REMAINING JUG & KFT CARDS The remaining fifteen (15) cards of your class's JUG and KFT Sets must be presented behind a Spoiler Block (Inserting a Spoiler can be done by clicking the ! symbol on the top bar of the text editor.). These cards must obey the same rules are your examples cards with regards to expansion watermarks, rarity gems, and what keywords you may not use.
BASIC AND CLASSIC SETS As before, include a link to each of the previous phases in at the end of your Submission.
FORMATTING The standard template which your submission must follow can be found here (or by navigating to the second post in the Discussion Topic, if that link doesn't work).
It's my comp, I'll have Tortollans a-plenty, Tortollans a-plenty, Tortollans a-plenty...
This is a purely indulgent challenge - despite being an entirely new race introduced in this expansion and later introduced into WoW itself, there weren't actually that many Tortollan cards in Journey to Un'goro. I should know, with the lengths I had to go to to make a Turtle deck. We'll be pretty lenient with what counts as a Tortollan - all Testudines are welcome here!
This seems like an incredibly simple challenge at first, but you can often find yourself designing cards which work fantastically in your class, but have little to nothing to do with the actual expansion. Shaman, the only class not to meet this criteria, at least focused a lot on Freeze in KFT - for better or worse.
Figuring out how best to incorporate these keywords into your class in order to show off your own unique take on them is the real challenge here.
An important aspect of creating a Hearthstone Year - one that is becoming even more prevalent in the upcoming Year of the Dragon, with its cross-expansion story - is linking the class together through the expansions. By giving players tools to help further archetypes introduced earlier in the Year, you can help players feel a sense of progression, and allow them to update their playstyle without having to shell out for a completely new set of cards.
Good examples of this are things like Brrloc, which adds a new tool for Quest Shaman to play with. A bad example would be the complete and utter lack of support for Freeze Shaman, leaving it dead in the water... or is that ice?
To make sure that everything runs smoothly, we need to reserve the Submission Topic for submissions only. Everything else goes here. What is everything else, you might ask?
Rules or Process. Do you have a question about the competition's process? Do you need clarification about one of the entry requirements? Are you not sure whether your entry adhered to the rules? Ask here!
Feedback or Ideas. Do you have some ideas you'd like to run by others before settling on one? Do you need help balancing or wording your idea? Do you need help finding art that will fit your cards? Or do you just want feedback from the community on your entry? You're in the right place! Remember, although you are allowed to make minor tweaks to your entry after you've submitted it, you're only allowed one submission per competition, so make sure that you've settled on your idea for sure beforehand.
Discussion! Do you have thoughts on other people's ideas? Are there directions you don't like that you're seeing too many people take? Or directions you'd like to see more people take? Would you like to help others and contribute to a greater community understanding of Hearthstone design and balance? This is where you want to be!

Posting TONS of Ideas. We understand that this competition is light on mechanical restrictions and that you probably have a ton of potential ideas you'd like to share. However, this thread is going to become an absolute mess if everybody is posting a dozen different ideas. Please post not more than 3 distinct ideas at a time. Any more than that and we'll have to delete your post.
Advertising Your Entry. Please don't pop in here just to advertise your entry only to never be heard from again. This includes only asking short, generic, or insincere questions like "Thoughts?" or "Do you think this is balanced?". Yes, getting feedback on your idea is one of the purposes of this topic, but we're not just here for other people to help you. We're here for you all to help each other. 12 hours after this competition begins, there should be plenty of other posts here for you to give specific feedback or for you to comment on a trend. If you post your ideas for feedback after this time and do not also offer some form of substantial commentary, critique, or praise of others' work, you may find your post deleted.
Plagiarism. Many people post their ideas here before finalizing them in the submission topic. Directly plagiarizing those ideas to post in the submission topic yourself is absolutely not acceptable.

Quest and reward unchanged (posted them as a refference).
As for the quest, both yours and your opponent's turns count. The counter does not reset after you lose health, it just doesn't proceed.
So e.g. if you have 4/7 on quest and lose health on a turn, nothing happens, and if you do not lose health next turn, it is 5/7 on quest (kinda complicated ik).

How many spells should be in an expansion set for a class?
5 minions to 5 "other", or 6-4 in favor of minions is the usual ratio, but it's ultimately up to you: what do you think your class needs? What are your plans? I added a cycle of Secrets to my Un'Goro set, so combined with the Quest that was a guaranteed four right there.

This is not a complete re-post, as I've made some changes according to feedback and my own review.
Journey to Un'Goro
Themes - Forced evolution and the perversion of natural selection, reviving the dead to improve them, Secrets.
Archetypes - Quest about reviving minions, hand-Adapt.
Changelist:
High Cultist Herenn costs 1 less, but cannot Adapt minions in the deck anymore.
Circle of Life's art no longer has the watermark in it :P
Life Finds A Way now only provides 3 fallen minions, instead of potentially filling your hand with them.
Undying Turtle is my card for Challenge #1.
The three Adapt cards fulfill Challenge #2.
The hand-Adapt archetype is what my 1-mana Common spell from Classic is connected to. Returning a minion to your hand via the Deathrattle allows that minion to then gain the Adaptations.
Knights of the Frozen Throne
Themes - Freezing one's own minions for various benefits, damaging minions until they have 1 Health, healing.
Archetypes - Freeze Fatigue.
Changelist:
The DK Hero Power now positively affects allied minions, instead of damaging enemies.
Lady Deathwhisper is larger and more expensive, now a 10/6/6. In exchange, she (and her effect) have Lifesteal.
Essence Leech costs 3, down from 4.
Corpse Explosion is gone, replace with "Your New Master".
There Can Only Be One makes The Lich King and his forces immune to Freeze, thereby crippling the Lich's ability to stall. His Hero Power and many cards lose their power; in a battle for control of the Scourge, Kel'Thuzad will have to find a different way to defend himself.
Hinterland Golem is my card for Challenge #3. Hinterland Golem costs 8, meaning he'll sit in your hand/deck for a while; this allows him to soak up enchantments from the Un'Goro Adapt cards. Because he can possibly copy himself, all of the enchantments you've put on him will also be on the copy.
Your New Master implies that the slain minion is then raised on your side of the board, but it is ultimately a 2/2 Zombie at its heart. The effects of the old minion are attached like buffs: if you revived the Zombie, it would just be a plain 2/2. Edit: It should probably say "enchantments". I can fix that later.

The Legendary it’s much more balanced than before. I Still think it can open the way to some OTK but that’s not a big deal, it’s a Legendary minion for a reason.
Moss Prophet - Why don’t you just keep the first option and you make your hero Immune?
Primal Rage - I understand that before you were choosing an adaptation for all of them, if they now get a different one randomly it’s much better to me.
Quest - I still think 7 turn it’s a lot but I don’t have in mind all your card for the basic and classic set but if I remember right you had a couple of armor cards which will def helps.
The Pure Void it’s HUGE. I think it’s balanced but that +3+3 it’s scary lol

Gold Elemental - I’m not sure if with the text like that will get the buff if shuffled into the deck from the hand. I think it’s not clear but I might be missing some existing example of that.
Magmatic Flow - Still thinking is too weak or too expensive.
Palechemist Nydia - It’s a cool card because in a way it breaks the “shuffling” gameplay.
Same for your KFT set, not much to say except what is aid in the last topic.

I'll scale back Life Finds a Way to give a specific amount. "All" is bound to fill your hand, which is strong for 5-mana.
Reconstruction could possibly be a Rare, but I don't have a need to open up the Epic slot at the moment. I wanted a Secret of each rarity, and Reconstruction's functionality fits in the space between Effigy and Splitting Image. Could go either-way *shrugs*
I do plan to create an Even Dragon archetype, but I'm waiting for The Witchwood to do so (assuming I can get that far). KFT is doing some prep work by adding another Dragon to the Lich's available pool.

So far I got something pretty much lock down, or at least something I'm happy with, for the Un'Goro set. KFT is still a work in progress *desperation mode on*. I'm trying to reduce the number of Herbs minion in each expansion and adding few minion with Evergrowth.
I made 2 version for the reqrd of the quest, i personally prefer the poisonous Hero instead of the board clear one. Also not sure about Resina, Sapmother...

Actually, I think that class is from a previous competition.
Yeah, it was my entry from the previous CCC, I've been working on it off and on in my spare time since then. That's why I've had the cards ready to go each phase, and why there are some questionable design decisions - such as basing my Quest around Adapt, which makes it much harder to support in the future despite the perfect flavour; the Keyword being the Tar Creeper effect, since I just needed a Keyword to meet the competition criteria; or the fact that there seem to have been no actual 0-Attack minions (not Tokens) in the class since Classic (as they got some in TOG, ONiK and MSoG, so they weren't given as many in the Year of the Mammoth).
I intended to post the full class sometime after that competition ended, but I never fully finished it, so it's just been lying around, and I figured I might as well use it for templating here.
I like the flavor of your cards. I would rename the quest into A New Element, to me, it sounds better. But that is just a personal matter, the quest and the rewards are very nice.
I would reduce the cost of Stitch to the Plan to 6, too expensive for a stat-only minion, but I could be wrong. Nice joke by the way.
Infused Abomination may be a bit too strong, you could try a cost increase or a +1/+1 buff only.
Wicked Crystalization is very powerful, if you build the deck around it you can draw a win condition. 2 mana could be better imo.

Quest seems too hard to complete, considering you have only 2 poisonous cards in the un'goro set, maybe lower it to 5 kills or maybe even 7, but i don't think so. I prefer the 2nd reward because it is more interesting.
Rest of the Un'Goro set seems fine.
Dreams Drain is a little strong, maybe 4 damage or 4 mana 6 damage.
Spring revival is very cheap for it's powerful effect. It can use an increase in cost or lower the effect to 1 health.
Silent Chanter is way to expensive. I would give it a way to trigger it's effect immediately, a battlecry or even a deathrattle to silence at least one minion.

I agree with IceKing16: the requirement for your Quest is too high. The amount of Poisonous options is low, especially since Adapt is an unreliable source. However, further increasing the availability of Poisonous would be a dangerous decision.
In Lesser Sap Elemental, "elemental" should be capitalized. Sap Scrying doesn't need to specify it's drawing a card from your deck; it could just say "Draw a card." Ghost Mushroom has the Neutral border.
Bristly Whelp seems really out of place, considering you're already trying to push Herbs and Elementals. The effect is fine, but maybe it should be attached to a different tribe...unless you're setting up for a future Dragon archetype? That being said, I like the "While this is alive" effect.
I'm sorry to say this, but I think your KFT set is fundamentally flawed from a flavor standpoint. How does Ysera connect to the Frozen Throne, Icecrown Citadel, the Lich King, and/or the Scourge? By turning into a Death Knight, your hero somehow becomes connected to the Mother of Dreams; that doesn't make a lot of sense :/
I think your KFT set would be better spent becoming an embodiment of pestilence and decay. It's somewhat similar to the Druid, but turning villain against nature would be more "on-brand" with the Death Knight expectations of a Botanist. *shrugs* Just a thought.

The Legendary it’s much more balanced than before. I Still think it can open the way to some OTK but that’s not a big deal, it’s a Legendary minion for a reason.
Moss Prophet - Why don’t you just keep the first option and you make your hero Immune?
Primal Rage - I understand that before you were choosing an adaptation for all of them, if they now get a different one randomly it’s much better to me.
Quest - I still think 7 turn it’s a lot but I don’t have in mind all your card for the basic and classic set but if I remember right you had a couple of armor cards which will def helps.
The Pure Void it’s HUGE. I think it’s balanced but that +3+3 it’s scary lol

Not much to say from my last review.
Gold Elemental - I’m not sure if with the text like that will get the buff if shuffled into the deck from the hand. I think it’s not clear but I might be missing some existing example of that.
Magmatic Flow - Still thinking is too weak or too expensive.
Palechemist Nydia - It’s a cool card because in a way it breaks the “shuffling” gameplay.
Same for your KFT set, not much to say except what is aid in the last topic.

I really think you sets looks pretty damn good. The only thing I want to say is:
Life Finds a Way could be a bit too much and maybe will find more play if it will works only with the minions that died last turn but that’s up to you.
Recostruction doesn’t deserve an Epic card to me.
Just out of curiosity, I thought you used a dragon as a legendary for the classic set because you wanted to use the synergies with them in these expansion…is is something you gonna do it later or you just trashed the idea?

Alright here we are, as always feedbacks more than welcome :)
So far I got something pretty much lock down, or at least something I'm happy with, for the Un'Goro set. KFT is still a work in progress *desperation mode on*. I'm trying to reduce the number of Herbs minion in each expansion and adding few minion with Evergrowth.
I made 2 version for the reqrd of the quest, i personally prefer the poisonous Hero instead of the board clear one. Also not sure about Resina, Sapmother...

The rarity of the cards is a bit random at the moment...i'm just afraid I'm focusing to much on the "sleep/dk theme" than the botanist one...
The Yseralide Seed stats will change based on the current Evergrowth that's why i wanted to have it pretty weak.
The Spring Revival connect to the previous expansion, gaining strength on the number of cards held.

Actually, I think that class is from a previous competition.
Yeah, it was my entry from the previous CCC, I've been working on it off and on in my spare time since then. That's why I've had the cards ready to go each phase, and why there are some questionable design decisions - such as basing my Quest around Adapt, which makes it much harder to support in the future despite the perfect flavour; the Keyword being the Tar Creeper effect, since I just needed a Keyword to meet the competition criteria; or the fact that there seem to have been no actual 0-Attack minions (not Tokens) in the class since Classic (as they got some in TOG, ONiK and MSoG, so they weren't given as many in the Year of the Mammoth).
I intended to post the full class sometime after that competition ended, but I never fully finished it, so it's just been lying around, and I figured I might as well use it for templating here.

Well, maybe that's just me, but it took me a day to finaly understand how Paven works. I think you should make it more clear.
I don't want to make too long post, but I'm on phone, and I cannot put spoilers. I'll be active later.
Question: For challenge 2, do we need a card in each expansion to use the keywords or just 1 in 20 to have them? Is a lifesteal KotFT card enough or do i need an additional adapt/poisonous JUG card?
Just a single card, in either expansion.
