This fancy telescope could find home in Combo decks like Freeze or Exodia, as those decks need heavy card draw, but also tend to have a lot of cards in hand. Just remember to have some spare mana to use a card, or you could burn a combo piece in your next turn!
On a normal curve your opponent will spend their 40th mana crystal during turn 9, letting you play this for 0 mana. Ramp druid will get there much faster, allowing you to play it free even sooner.
Flavor text: "Not everyone knows this little fella is how Blackhand REALLY got his name."
For clarification: The card would be discounted with "overkill" damage as well. For example:Casting
Flamestrike
on 3 1/1 minions will discount Bardolph by 12, not by 3. Damage dealt to friendly minions counts as well, as long as it's dealt by a spell.
I initially intended this card to be a spell called "Kleptomania", then I remembered
Dragon's Fury
is a thing. So I obviously had to make some changes. We don't want it to cost 0 on turn 5 if it's still in your deck, do we?
Clearly,
Dragon's Fury
is still pretty OP when combined with Bardolph. I didn't like any of the changes I came up with, as they made our gnome friend completely useless if not paired with
Dragon's Fury
. So I'm just gonna act like it doesn't exist because I liked the idea of actually having a win condition which isn't just killing your opponent. Bear with me.
Nowadays, almost every slow deck has some sort of explosive late game finisher. Control Mage doesn't really have that luxury. This is where Bardolph the Kleptomaniac comes in! Finish your opponents... with THEIR finishers! Or not. Maybe they
don't
have their key cards in hand. Maybe they don't even have a game-finishing combo in their game plan.
I didn't want the card to just instantly win you the game, rather have the potential to in most (but not all) cases.
"Watch your mana carefully. You may get...overcharged... get it?"
This is another form of Shaman AoE board clear. Perhaps it's something to think about when their staple
Volcano
get's removed. It comes at a price and work similarly to the "forbidden" cards from Whispers of the Old Gods. The card is costed at (11) mana. So let's say you have (7) to spare. All of your mana crystals will be spent and you will be Overloaded for (4). Heck, if you wanna play this on turn one, you can; just understand that you'll be Overloaded for (10) next turn! Another small design mechanic with this is that if it's cast with (0) mana at your disposal, you will be Overloaded for (10) mana the next turn and (1) the turn after that!
Smoked souls are better appreciated with some salt and lemon. Oh, I meant salmon.
So this card has its cost reduced when you've got friendly minions on board. E.g. With a carnivorous cube (5) on board, it costs only (6) and allow to kill the cube and have its content.
This card can only be used when you have 6 or more cards. However, it's incredibly flexibe and can be:
To make up for its flexibility, it costs 1 more than Arcane Intellect or Sprint .

The 11-cost is based on Logan’s General Order No. 11.

I hate bell pepper as much I hate OTK decks

Strictly good in evolve shaman, a more rewarding result for hitting an 11 mana minion while evolving instead of snowfury giant.
